  • In this study, an automated sensor to measure forest fire surface fuel moistures was developed to predict changes in the moisture content and risk of forest fire surface fuel, which was indicators of forest fire occurrence and spread risk. This measurement sensor was a method of automatically calculating the moisture content of forest fire surface fuel by electric resistance. The proxy of forest fire surface fuel used in this sensor is pine (50 cm long, 1.5 cm in diameter), and the relationship between moisture content and electrical resistance, R(R:Electrical resistance)=2E(E:Exponent of 10)+13X(X:Moisture content)-9.705(R2=0.947) was developed. In addition, using this, the software and case of the automated measurement sensor for forest fire surface fuel moisture were designed to produce a prototype, and the suitability (R2=0.824) was confirmed by performing field monitoring verification in the forest. The results of this study would contribute to develop technologies that can predict the occurrence, spread and intensity of forest fires, and are expected to be used as basic data for advanced forest fire risk forecasting technologies.

  • To measure underwater acoustics using a fiber-optic Sagnac interferometric sensor, the sensitivities of ring-type probes are investigated by theoretical and experimental studies. A ring-type probe was fabricated by packaging a single-mode fiber wound around an acrylate cylinder of diameter 5 cm with epoxy bond. The probes were prepared as A-type, which was packaged with 46.84 m of sensing optical fiber, and B-type, which was packaged with 112.22 m of sensing fiber. The underwater acoustic test was performed at frequencies of 50, 70, and 90 kHz, and over a range of acoustic pressure of 20-100 Pa, to study the sensitivity. A commercial acoustic generator was located 1 m from the acoustic sensor, such as the ring-type probe or a commercial acoustic sensor. From the experimental test, the acoustic sensitivity of the ring-type probe had different values due to acoustic frequencies, unlike the theoretical prediction. Therefore, the experimental sensitivities were averaged for comparison to the theoretical values. These averaged sensitivities are 25.48 × 10-5 rad/Pa for the A-type probe and 60.79 × 10-5 rad/Pa for the B-type probe. The correction coefficient of Young's modulus c was determined to be 0.35.

  • The plasma process, which has many advantages in terms of efficiency and environment compared to conventional process methods, is widely used in semiconductor manufacturing. Plasma Sheath is a dark region observed between the plasma bulk and the chamber wall surrounding it or the electrode. The Plasma Sheath Monitoring Sensor (PSMS) measures the difference in voltage between the plasma and the electrode and the RF power applied to the electrode in real time. The PSMS data, therefore, are expected to have a high correlation with the state of plasma in the plasma chamber. In this study, a model for predicting the state of nitrogen ions in the plasma chamber is training by a deep learning machine learning techniques using PSMS data. For the data used in the study, PSMS data measured in an experiment with different power and pressure settings were used as training data, and the ratio, flux, and density of nitrogen ions measured in plasma bulk and Si substrate were used as labels. The results of this study are expected to be the basis of artificial intelligence technology for the optimization of plasma processes and real-time precise control in the future.

  • Due to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, innovation in various technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data (Big Data), and cloud (Cloud) is accelerating, and data is considered an important asset. With the innovation of these technologies, various efforts are being made to lead technological innovation in the field of defense science and technology. In Korea, the government also announced the "Defense Innovation 4.0 Plan," which consists of five key points and 16 tasks to foster advanced science and technology forces in March 2023. The plan also includes the establishment of a Condition-Based Maintenance system (CBM+) to improve the operability and availability of weapons systems and reduce defense costs. Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) aims to secure the reliability and availability of the weapon system and analyze changes in equipment's state information to identify them as signs of failure and defects, and CBM+ is a concept that adds Remaining Useful Life prediction technology to the existing CBM concept [1]. In order to establish a CBM+ system for the weapon system, sensors are installed and sensor data are required to obtain condition information of the weapon system. In this paper, we propose a sensor data metadata schema to efficiently and effectively manage sensor data collected from sensors installed in various weapons systems.

  • An electro-optic system using linear photosensitive Charge Coupled Devices(CCDs) having dummy pixels has been proposed for realzation of linear prodictor in the differential pulse code modulation(DPCM). The system consists of three components as conventional system:input light source, spatial filter(mask) and CCD line scanning sensor. For the delay time due to the dummy pixels in CCD, modifying conventional mask, a new dispersive mask is proposed, of which every prediction coefficient is dispersed on the more than one element, the characteristics of the system using the proposed dispersive mask are analyzed theoretically and verified with experiment.

  • As the technology developed, the system is being developed as the structure that is adapted to the intelligent environment. Therefore, the existing situation information system couldn't provide satisfactory service to the user as it provides service only by the information which it received from the sensor. This paper analyzed the problems of the existing user intention awareness system and suggested user intention awareness system to provide a stable and efficient service that fits to the intention of the user compensating this. This paper has collected the behavior data based on the scenario of the sequential behavior course of the user that occurs at breakfast time in the kitchen which is the home domain environment thai is closely related to our lives. This scenario course also showed the flow that the goal intentional user intention awareness system acted that it suggested, and showed the sequential course processing the user behavior data by tables and charts.

  • The importance of railway safety has become increasingly significant domestically as well as internationally, as a series of high speed railway accidents and other major accidents have occurred recently. Especially for the domestic railway, the Korean Railway Safety Law has been revised recently, mandates all the domestic railway operation authorities to render the performance of RAMS and RCM. This study inspects and analyzes the current status of the sensing technology of the electric detection system to tell the status of railway facilities in the highway railway in a real time through a sensor. It also performs the reliability analysis of the electric detection system that is being progressed as a study assignment and suggests the system construction for the higher reliability.

  • This paper describes the prediction of location of PD signals in GIS using the difference in the measured time between first and second wave arrival by the external-type PD sensors. It is well accepted that the electromagnetic wave in GIS propagates at the velocity of $3{\times}10^8$m/s. Consequently, we could identify the location of PD with high accuracy. The experience at the fields and the problems for the judgment are also discussed in detail.

  • Achievements in the real-time soil spectro-photometer are: an improved soil penetrator to ensure a uniform soil surface under high speed conditions, real-time collecting of underground soil reflectance, getting underground soil color images, use of a RTK-GPS, and all units are arranged for compactness. With the soil spectrophotometer, field experiments were conducted in a 0.5 ha paddy field. With the original reflectance, averaging and multiple scatter correction, Kubelka-Munk (KM) transformation as soil absorption, its 1st and 2nd derivatives were calculated. When the spectra was highly correlated with the soil parameters, stepwise regression analysis was conducted. Results include the best prediction models for moisture, soil organic matter (SOM), nitrate nitrogen ($NO_3-N$), pH and electric conductivity (EC), and soil maps obtained by block kriging analysis.

  • In a ship block logistics application, acquisition of locations is required in order to identify location of the ship blocks. A Smart device equipped with a GPS sensor can be used as a mobile client for a ship block logistics application. However the precision of GPS components on a commercial smart device is not high enough. Therefore, using the GPS for localization may produce significant positioning errors in a ship block logistics system. This paper proposes a method to reduce errors in measuring locations using a smart device. Based on the knowledge of how the location information is used in a ship block logistics application, and the predictability of the client's moving line based on geographical layout of a shipyard area, our proposed technique enables a better prediction of the ship blocks location. Performance evaluation shows that the proposed technique can significantly reduce the positional error.
