  • The present article endeavours to develop partial optional randomized - response technique (PORT) to deal with sensitive issues in presence of non-response in successive sampling. Calibration techniques have been embedded with PORT to estimate sensitive population mean at current move in two move successive sampling in presence of non-response. Optimum calibration weights are computed at each move with the aid of constraints based on auxiliary information. Detailed properties of the proposed estimators have been discussed. Possible cases in which non-response may creep at two moves has been explored. The proposed technique has been compared with the modified existing technique. Simulation results indicate that the proposed technique is more efficient than existing, modified one. Suitable recommendations are forwarded.

  • The simplicity and wide application of Greenberg et al. (1971) prompts to propose a set of alternative estimators of population total for multi-character surveys that elicit simultaneous information on many. sensitive study variables. The proposed estimators take into account the already known rough value of the correlation coefficient between Y(the characteristic under study) and p(the measure of size). These estimators are biased, but it is expected that the extent of bias will be smaller, since the proposed estimators are suitable for situations in between those optimum for the usual estimators and the estimators based on multi-characters for no correlation. The relative efficiency of the proposed estimators has been studied under a super population model through empirical study. It has been found through simulation study that a choice of an unrelated variable in the Greenberg et al. (1971) model could be made based on its correlation with the auxiliary variable used at estimation stage in multi-character surveys.

  • The maximum relative growth rate of algae treated with Zinc was shown as follows: 15, 8, 6, 3 and -5% per day for the rather sensitive Chlorella sp. populations, or 14, 7, 5 and 4% per day for the Pleurococcus sp. populations, and 22, 20, 13, 9 and 7% per day for the more resistant Scenedesmus spinosus populations, respectively for the culture medium with 0, 1, 5, 10 and 20 ppm of Zinc treatment. With mixed cultures of Chlorella sp. and Scenedesmus spinosus populations, the growth of the Chlorella sp. population overcame that of the S. spinomsus population from the cultures treated with relatively low concentration of Zinc. On the contrary, the population growth of the latter resistant species overcame that of the former sensitive species when the concentration of Zinc was above 5 ppm Zn of the medium. This paper describes the results of further investigations of the effects evaluated by direct cell counts method, optical density comparisons, oxygen production and consumption determinations and the measurements of the fate of Zinc treated in the solutions.

  • In this paper, a simple and obvious procedure is presented that allows to estimate $\pi$, the population proportion of a sensitive group. Suggested procedure is combined procedure of direct question and randomized response technique. It is found that the proposed procedure is more efficient than Warner's(1965).

  • Randomized response technique is a survey technique for eliminating evasive answer bias. This technique is popular in social survey for sensitive issues. In this paper we present a simple and obvious procedure for estimating the population proportion of a sensitive group. Here, we shows the weak point in the method of Kim and Warde (2005). Also, it is found that the proposed procedure is more efficient than the ones of Warner (1965) and Kim and Warde (2005). Lastly we discuss the conditions that the suggested method will be more efficienct.

  • In comparing two population means, the test statistic depends on the sample means and the variances, which are very sensitive to the extremely large or small values. This paper aims at examining the behavior of such observations using proper criterion which can measure the influence of them. We derive a computationally feasible statistic which can detect influential observations on the two-sample t-statistic.

  • The particle swarm optimization(PSO) has been shown to converge rapidly during the initial stages of a global search, but around global optimum, the search process becomes very slow. On the other hand, the genetic algorithm is very sensitive to the initial population. In fact, the random nature of the GA operators makes the algorithm sensitive to initial population. This dependence to the initial population is in such a manner that the algorithm may not converge if the initial population is not well selected. In this paper, we have proposed a new algorithm which combines PSO and GA in such a way that the new algorithm is more effective and efficient and can find the optimal solution more accurately and with less computational time. Optimal location of SVC using this hybrid PSO-GA algorithm is found. We have also found the optimal place of SVC using GA and PSO separately and have compared the results. It has been shown that the new algorithm is more effective and efficient. An IEEE 68 bus test system is used for simulation.

  • A two-stage procedure is proposed to estimate the population proportion of a sensitive group. The proposed procedure is obtained by combining the direct question method and a modified randomized response technique. It is verified that the proposed procedure is more efficient than existing methods under some mild conditions.

  • This review paper is to provide theoretical background and empirical evidence for gender sensitive health policy in Korea. We explore how sex and gender are implicated in health disparities. After reviewing major concepts regarding sex, gender, and health, the study moves on to describe the ways in which gender interacts with other social determinants (socioeconomic position, workplace, stress, social support, and violation) to show disparate health outcomes. Next, suggested health models considering gender and social process are introduced. The article concludes by suggesting the necessity of gender sensitive policy consorted with social programs in tackling health equity.

  • The problem of the estimation of quantitative sensitive variable using the item sum technique (IST) on successive occasions has been discussed. IST difference, IST regression, and IST general class of estimators have been proposed to estimate quantitative sensitive variable at the current occasion in two occasion successive sampling. The proposed new estimators have been elaborated under Trappmann et al. (Journal of Survey Statistics and Methodology, 2, 58-77, 2014) as well as Perri et al. (Biometrical Journal, 60, 155-173, 2018) allocation designs to allocate long list and short list samples of IST. The properties of all proposed estimators have been derived including optimum replacement policy. The proposed estimators have been mutually compared under the above mentioned allocation designs. The comparison has also been conducted with a direct method. Numerical applications through empirical as well as simplistic simulation has been used to show how the illustrated IST on successive occasions may venture in practical situations.
