In natural language, it is common that repetitive constituents in an expression are to be left out and it is necessary to figure out the constituents omitted at analyzing the meaning of the sentence. This paper is on recognition of boundaries of parallel noun phrases by figuring out constituents omitted. Recognition of parallel noun phrases can greatly reduce complexity at the phase of sentence parsing. Moreover, in natural language information retrieval, recognition of noun with modifiers can play an important role in making indexes. We propose an unsupervised probabilistic model that identifies parallel cores as well as boundaries of parallel noun phrases conjoined by a conjunctive particle. It is based on the idea of swapping constituents, utilizing symmetry (two or more identical constituents are repeated) and reversibility (the order of constituents is changeable) in parallel structure. Semantic features of the modifiers around parallel noun phrase, are also used the probabilistic swapping model. The model is language-independent and in this paper presented on parallel noun phrases in Korean language. Experiment shows that our probabilistic model outperforms symmetry-based model and supervised machine learning based approaches.

It has long been speculated that the visual system should use a coding strategy that takes advantage of statistical redundancies in images. But how such a coding strategy should manifest in neural responses has been less clear. Low-level image structure related to the power spectrum of natural images appears to be captured by a hard-wired efficient code in the retina of the fly and precortical structures like the LGN of cats that maximizes information content through the limited capacity channel of the optic nerve. But visual images are typically filled with higher-order structure beyond that captured by the power spectrum and visual cortex is not constrained by the same capacity limits as the optic nerve. Whether and how visual cortex can flexibly code for higher order redundancies is unknown. Here we show using psychophysical techniques that the neural response in early human visual cortex may be modulated by orientation redundancies in images such that a visual feature that is contained within a predictive pattern results in slower reaction times than a feature that deviates from a pattern, suggesting lower neural responses to predictable stimuli in the visual cortex. Our results point to a neural response in early visual cortex that is sensitive to global patterns and redundancies in visual images and is in marked contrast to standard models of cortical visual processing.

본 논문은 문학 연구와 인공지능의 접점을 감성 영역에서 찾고, 그 연계성을 기반으로 상호 보완과 발전을 지향하는 문학과 기술의 융합에 관한 연구이다. 본 논문은 문학과 공학에서 각각 상대를 보는 관점을 사용하고 공통의 기반인 감성의 주제를 두고 비교 점검하는 연구 방법을 사용한다. 현재 인공 지능과 문학 연구의 융합 연구 결과물이 많이 발표되고 있지 않은데, 본 연구에서는 미래 인공지능의 지향점을 두고 인문학 분야에서의 학제적 연구를 모색해 보고자 하였다. 이에 문학적 감성을 통해 문학도 인공지능의 발전에 공헌할 방안으로서 주관적인 문학의 감성을 추출하여 인공지능의 객관적 입력을 위한 정형화 작업에 참여할 때에 이르렀다. 본 연구에서 시도하고 있는 감성의 용어 중심 추출 작업을 거쳐서 인간 감정에 접근하는 주관적인 상상력과 객관적인 기술력이 조합된다면, 광범위한 인간의 자료를 분석하는 속도감 있는 문학 연구의 확장은 물론, 복합적인 인간을 이해하고 상대하는 깊이 있는 인공지능의 개발에 다가갈 수 있을 것이라 본다. 그러한 마주보기 통과 의례를 거쳐서 학제적 연구의 장점을 살린 논의는 두 학문 분야를 별개로 볼 때의 한계 또한 인정하고 부족한 측면을 상호 보완하는 융합 연구의 긍정적 측면을 갖게 될 것이다.

최근 제품에 있어서 가치는 기능성을 제공하는 측면에서 점차 사용성과 감성을 중요시하는 방향으로 변화하고 있다. 최근의 혁신적인 제품을 보면 사용성과 감성적인 가치가 기술개발의 방향성까지 결정하는 등 제품개발에 있어서 감성과 사용성 가치의 중요성은 더 더욱 커지고 있다. 또한 감성과, 사용성에 대한 정확한 예측은 제품의 개발 방향뿐만 아니라, R&D의 방향성을 결정짓기 때문에 이와 같은 Value를 표현할 수 있는 정확하고 신뢰성 있는 모델의 중요성 갈수록 높아지고 있다. 하지만 제품개발에 있어서 감성과 사용성으로 대변되는 User Experience 가치 제공은 기능성, 신뢰성 등의 기존가치와는 달리 소비자, 사용자로 대변되는 Human에 대한 더 높은 이해가 필수적이나, 관련 지식의 부족 및 통계적 정량화, 객관화 어려움 등으로 제품의 가치로 연결시키기에는 많은 어려움이 있는게 사실이다. 본 논문에서는 감성과 사용성 등을 고려한 제품 가치 체계(Product Value Structure)에 대해서 살펴보고, 아울러 이러한 가치를 고려한 제품개발 패러다임의 변화에 대해서 살펴보고자 한다. 또한 기존의 감성 사용성에 대한 방법론에 널리 활용되는 통계적 귀납적 방법론 외에 인지과학(Coginition Technology)을 활용하여 연역적 방법론에 대해서도 고민해보고자 한다. 특히 Iphone의 UI 특성을 통해 Innovation Company가 인지과학적인 Approach를 어떻게 제품개발에 적용하고 있는지에 대해서 알아보고자 한다.

Form-ratio means the ratio of height/Width/Depth in 3-dimensions. The golden ratio or golden section is included as one of the form-ratio. We conducted two kinds of kansei experiments of cubic model and refrigerator varied from 1:1:1 to 1:1:3.66 on the scale of x:y:z. The subjects evaluate the form-ratios of 3-dimensional cubes and virtual products with SD-scale Kansei words(feelings and images). We applied the factor analysis to identify semantic space in cube model and virtual products. Finally, we compared with kansei structure of cube model and virtual product.

A railway station forecourt is the first place in a city that may make an impression on first time visitors. Their first impression is influenced by the view of the city from the station. This study had two objectives: one was to clarify the evaluation structure of a station forecourt landscape and the other was to clarify the effect of landscape elements on public preference using multivariate analysis, and to discuss the problems of designing a station forecourt. In order to accomplish these objectives, psychological experiments based on photos of station forecourts were carried out, and the relationship between public preference and landscape elements was analyzed. A significant relationship between public preference and elements of a station forecourt landscape was quantitatively observed and several problems inherent to station forecourt design were identified.

A database was constructed for customers to find and choose and apparel product. The product information was collected from words on several kinds of advertisement, which purchasers meet in their ordinary life. The information was sorted and categorized in 8 basic mother categories (Target group, Color, Apparel type, Fabric, Size, Price, Manufacturer) to build a suitable database structure. Each mother category was arranged into subcategories. Also this study showed a demonstration version of the retrieval system. the research resulted can be used for more intensive retrieval system.

Testing device was newly designed and built to measure the dynamic contact angle. The measurement was made using microscope interfaced with computerized image analysis system while the dynamic condition being controled using Instron. As specimens for the experiment, two different types of fibers, i.e., hydrophilic and hydrophobic, were prepared. In case of hydrophilic fiber, the increase of twist level gave the increase of contact angle. However, in hydrophobic yarn the increase of twist level gave the decrease of contact angle. When saline was used as a telling liquid, the increase of the concentration gave the increase of contact angle. The results rationalized clearly on the basis of known concepts could be used in designing fabric structure for the improvement of comport performance.

본 연구는 감성정보에 대한 모델을 구축하기 위하여 감성 정의를 "알고 있는 지식" 으로 규정하고 진행하였고, 감성디자인의 프로세스를 구축하기 위하여 암묵지식 이론과 이분법을 응용하여 감성요소를 추출하였다. 실험 방법에 있어서는 대상 주제에 대한 피험자가 표현하는 내용을 정리하고 이것에 대해 연구자가 이분법을 반복하여 실시하였으며, 압축된 분할 기준을 만들고 결과를 수량화 3류에 의한 해석과 샘플스코어를 직관적으로 이해하기 쉬운 트리 구조로 정리하였다. 이러한 감성 정보과정의 반복을 통하여 감성 디자인 프로세스를 구축하였다.

현대의 디자인에서 가장 주목할 특징은 Convergence, 즉 융합적 사고 전개이며 그 외적형식이 감성디자인이다. 즉 감성의 지표인 니즈를 통하여 디지인 기획단계에서부터 최종 소비까지 사용자의 감성을 고려한 총체적 메카니즘을 말한다. 따라서 감성디자인은 감성에 대한 연구가 필수적이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 감성에 대한 기존의 연구에서, 감성은 직관적이지만 모호한 것이었다. 그러나 학제간의 연구성과에 힘입어 감성은 이성의 상반적 개념으로 지각, 쾌감과 감정을 외연으로 갖으면서 인간지성을 매개하는 심의의 능력인 것이다. 이때 감성은 니즈의 통계학적 분석에 의한 평균값이 아니라 기호해석의 구조적 강제성에 의하여 보편성을 획득하게 되어 실천적 행위로써 디자인 프로세스를 거쳐 다시 감성의 출발지인 소비자에로 이행하는 순환적 고리를 형성하게 된다. 이것인 감성디자인의 의미전달의 구조이다.
