The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among the consumer's sensation seeking tendency needs of clothing purchase and clothing purchase behavior. The date were obtained from 461 female university students career women and housewives using questionnaire. Consumers were classified into low and high sensation seeking tendency groups. These two groups showed partially significant difference in the needs of clothing purchase. Consumers with higher sensation seeking tendency had higher tendency of impulse buying. And they were likely to show the pleasure dimension of needs of clothing purchase and the pleasure seeking and the time seeking factors of shopping behavior Also they had higher purchase frequency of clothing than those who had lower sensation seeking tendency. Consumers with lower sensation seeking tendency placed more importance on the utilitarian dimension of the needs of clothing purchase and the price and quality of products in shopping.
Ion channels of the transient receptor potential (TRP) superfamily are non-selective cationic channels with six transmembrane domains. The TRP channel made its first debut as a light-gated $Ca^{2+}$ channel in Drosophila. Recently, research on animal sensation in Drosophila disclosed other members of the TRP family that are required for touch sensation and hearing as well as the sensation of painful stimuli.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to find an effective medical device to detect cold sensation of hands. Methods: Patients with cold sensation of hands (N=42) were recruited in July 2013. We surveyed patients’ general characteristics, severity of cold sensation, body temperature in Nogung (PC8) and Hyeopbaek (LU4) measured with a digital thermometer, digital infrared thermal imaging, and pulse wave velocity. Results: The relation between severity of cold sensation and temperature in Nogung (PC8) and Hyeopbaek (LU4) was statistically significant. The results showed a higher correlation of severity of cold sensation with Nogung (PC9) than with Hyeopback (LU4) temperature. No other indices were statistical significant. Conclusions: Measuring the Nogung (PC9) temperature is most reasonable for assessing the severity of cold sensation of hands. To generalize this result, however, a large-scale study is warranted.
This study aims at investigating the benefit of actively controlling humidity to improve thermal comfort and energy efficiency in climate zones other than hot-dry. For this research purpose, three thermal control strategies, which adopted different initiative degrees in humidity control, were developed - i) temperature controls, ii) temperature and humidity controls, and iii) thermal sensation controls. Performance of the developed strategies were experimentally tested in a full scale mock up of an office environment. The study revealed that air temperature was better controlled in the occupied zone under the first two strategies than the thermal sensation based strategy. On the other hand, the thermal sensation-based strategy maintained thermal sensation levels more comfortably. In addition, energy consumption was significantly reduced when humidity was actively controlled for thermal comfort. The thermal sensation-based control strategy consumed significantly less electricity than the first two strategies. From these findings, this study indicated that adoption of an active humidity control system based on thermal sensation can provide increased thermal comfort as well as energy savings for summer seasons in climatic zones other than hot-dry.
In order to investigate the relationship between subjective sensation for fabric sound and touch and the objective measurements, eight different apparel fabrics were selected as specimens. Sound parameters of fabrics including level pressure of total sound (LPT), level range (ΔL), and frequency differences (Δf) and mechanical properties by Kawabata Evaluation System (KES) were obtained. For subjective evaluation, seven aspects of the sound (softness, loudness, pleasantness, sharpness, clearness, roughness, and highness) and eight of the tough (hardness, smoothness, fineness, coolness, pliability, crispness, heaviness, and thickness) were rated using semantic differential scale. Polyester ultrasuede was evaluated to sound softer and more pleasant while polyester taffeta to sound louder and rougher than any other fabrics. Wool fabric such as worsted and woolen showed similar sensation for sound but differed in some touch sensation in that woolen was coarseast, heaviest, and thickest in touch. In the prediction model for sound sensation, LPT affected positively subjective roughness and highness as well as loudness, while ΔL was found as a parameter related positively with softness and pleasantness. Touch sensation was explained by some of mechanical properties such as surface, compressional, shear, and bending properties implying that a touch sensation could be expressed by a variety of properties.
This study aims to investigate the relationships among sensation seeking tendency and shopping orientation and the preferences of fashion styles of female college students. The sensation seeking was found related with shopping orientation, and style preference. 'Seeking change' tendency and 'seeking unusual sensation' are related to 'hedonic shopping orientation', while 'seeking adventure/satisfying curiosity' is related to 'impulsive shopping orientation'. As 'seeking adventure/satisfying curiosity' increased, the preference of 'vivid character style' increased. The cross-effect of seeking sensation and shopping orientation affected style preference. Allowance and residential location affected the seeking sensation, shopping orientation and preference styles, while monthly spending on clothing and residential type affected shopping orientation only. The students with large allowance showed high 'seeking adventure/satisfying curiosity', high 'brand loyalty and impulsive' shopping orientation, and high preference in 'accessory and conspicuous style'. The students residing in Inchon showed high 'seeking unusual sensation', and 'practical shopping orientation', and low 'accessory and conspicuous style' than Seoul students.
To pursue youth and agelessness can be regarded as a global trend today. The younger a woman recognizes herself to be, the more sensation seeking tendency and the more active fashion exploratory behavior of younger generation she would show. This study attempted to empirically examine the relationship between sensation seeking behavior and fashion exploratory behavior according to the difference age in women in their 30's to 50s'. After the survey, a total of 480 questionnaires was used for data analysis. The results of this study are as follows, 1. It was found that there was a very high correlation among cognitive ages, and the lower cognitive age a woman had, the higher difference age she showed. 2. Sensation seeking tendency of adult women was shown in two factors of change seeking and artistic sensation seeking, and these factors accounted for 73.99% of the total variances. Fashion exploratory behavior had 4 factors such as fashion leadership, behavior of hedonic shopping, behavior of clothing communication and behavior of clothing purchase with taking a risk, and these four factors accounted for 75.87% of the total variances. 3. The higher difference age and the higher tendency of sensation seeking an adult woman had, the higher fashion exploratory behavior was shown, and the higher the difference age, the higher tendency of change seeking and artistic sensation seeking.
The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of the sensation seeking and body image on female adolescents' clothing behavior and hair style attitude. The data was collected from 390 high school girls living in Seoul, via a self·administered questionnaires, and were analyzed by frequency, factor analysis, reliability test, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression. The results of this study was as follows : 1) Three factors of body images were self appearance evaluation, appearance orientation and fitness orientation. Five factors of clothing attitudes were fashion/clothing interest, clothing exhibition, social approval, psychological dependence on clothing and fashion leadership. And three factors of hair style attitudes were interest in hair style, individuality in hair style and dependency on hair designer. 2) As the result of analyzing the effects of sensation seeking and body image on clothing behavior, fashion/clothing interest was explained by appearance orientation and fitness orientation, and clothing exhibition by sensation seeking and appearance orientation, and social approval by appearance orientation, self appearance evaluation and body cathexis, and fashion leadership by appearance orientation, fitness orientation and self appearance evaluation, and clothing conformity to the self-entertainer by appearance orientation, sensation seeking and fitness orientation, and appearance related delinquency by sensation seeking, appearance orientation, fitness orientation, self appearance evaluation. 3) As the result of analyzing the effects of sensation seeking and body image on hair style attitudes, interest in hair style was explained by the factors such as appearance orientation, sensation seeking, fitness orientation, and body cathexis, and individuality in hair style by appearance orientation, sensation seeking and self appearance evaluation, and dependency on hair designer by body cathexis.
Objectives : In this study, we intended to make the foundation of the development of acupuncture tissue model as comparing the needle sensation of six kinds of tissue models and Zusanli ($ST_{36}$) with the needle force measurement system. Methods : When practitioners did twisting-rotating acupuncture needle manipulation after inserting the needle into six kinds of tissue models, they quantified the similarity sense to the sensation of Zusanli ($ST_{36}$) with the NRS (Numeric Rating scale). As needle force measurement system did twisting-rotating Acupuncture needle manipulation after inserting needle into Zusanli ($ST_{36}$) of human and six kinds of tissue models, it can calculate the coefficient of viscosity by measuring the torsion friction. We compare the NRS of practitioners' needle sensation to the coefficient of viscosity of needle force measurement systems. Result : As practitioners' NRS assessment to quantify needle sensation, apple and cucumber showed 70% similarity to Zusanli ($ST_{36}$). As needle force measurement system's coefficient of viscosity, apple and cucumber's coefficient of viscosity were similar to Zusanli ($ST_{36}$)'s. Conclusions : In this study, We compared the practitioners' needle sensation of Zusanli ($ST_{36}$) and six kinds of tissue models with needle force measurement system that can quantify the needle sensation. As the result, we concluded that practitioners' needle sensation is similar to measured needle sensation. It seems that the acupuncture practice model implementing the needle sensation to specific acupuncture points can be built based on the system in this study.
Objectives : The elicit of DeQi, a composite of sensation including numbness and fullness that develops at the site of acupuncture stimulation, is considered to be clinically essential to establish treatment efficacy. However, there was little studies investigating the relationship between the subjective feeling of acupuncture sensation and acupuncture analgesia, The current study was therefore performed to determine the correlation between the acupuncture sensation scale (ASS) and the degree of acupuncture analgesia. Methods : Ninety-two female subjects were stimulated at LI4 acupoint on non-dominant hand with real (RA) or sham acupuncture (SA). Finger withdrawal latency (FWL) of each group was also measured to evaluate analgesic effect of acupuncture on the noxious heat stimuli on the dominant hand. All subjects were asked to complete seven point-Likert scale ASS developed by Vincent et al. Results : The increase rate of FWL of the RA group was significantly higher than that of the SA group(36.03 ${\pm}$ 4.45% vs 24.50 ${\pm}$ 3.73%). RA stimulation produced significantly higher rating of all the ASS except for dull sensation, compared to SA stimulation. Significant correlations between analgesic effect of RA, but not of SA, and the degree of the ASS, including burning sensation(r=0.349), Intense sensation(r=0.299), pulsating sensation (r=0.335), and stinging sensation (r=0.306) were found. Conclusions : The results of our study indicate that the DeQi sensation are associated with acupuncture analgesia. Our findings suggest that the evocation of DeQi might be useful clinical indicator of acupuncture treatment.
