A STRUCTURE ON COEFFICIENTS OF NILPOTENT POLYNOMIALS

  • We observe a structure on the products of coefficients of nilpotent polynomials, introducing the concept of n-semi-Armendariz that is a generalization of Armendariz rings. We first obtain a classification of reduced rings, proving that a ring R is reduced if and only if the n by n upper triangular matrix ring over R is n-semi-Armendariz. It is shown that n-semi-Armendariz rings need not be (n+1)-semi-Armendariz and vice versa. We prove that a ring R is n-semi-Armendariz if and only if so is the polynomial ring over R. We next study interesting properties and useful examples of n-semi-Armendariz rings, constructing various kinds of counterexamples in the process.

  • Given a positive integer n, a ring R is said to be n-semi-Armendariz if whenever $f^n=0$ for a polynomial f in one indeterminate over R, then the product (possibly with repetitions) of any n coefficients of f is equal to zero. A ring R is said to be semi-Armendariz if R is n-semi-Armendariz for every positive integer n. Semi-Armendariz rings are a generalization of Armendariz rings. We characterize when certain important matrix rings are n-semi-Armendariz, generalizing some results of Jeon, Lee and Ryu from their paper (J. Korean Math. Soc. 47 (2010), 719-733), and we answer a problem left open in that paper.

  • We observe the basic structure of the products of coefficients of nilpotent (left) polynomials in skew polynomial rings. This study consists of a process to extend a well-known result for semi-Armendariz rings. We introduce the concept of ${\alpha}$-skew n-semi-Armendariz ring, where ${\alpha}$ is a ring endomorphism. We prove that a ring R is ${\alpha}$-rigid if and only if the n by n upper triangular matrix ring over R is $\bar{\alpha}$-skew n-semi-Armendariz. This result are applicable to several known results.

ON WEAK ARMENDARIZ RINGS

  • In the present note we study the properties of weak Armendariz rings, and the connections among weak Armendariz rings, Armendariz rings, reduced rings and IFP rings. We prove that a right Ore ring R is weak Armendariz if and only if so is Q, where Q is the classical right quotient ring of R. With the help of this result we can show that a semiprime right Goldie ring R is weak Armendariz if and only if R is Armendariz if and only if R is reduced if and only if R is IFP if and only if Q is a finite direct product of division rings, obtaining a simpler proof of Lee and Wong's result. In the process we construct a semiprime ring extension that is infinite dimensional, from given any semi prime ring. We next find more examples of weak Armendariz rings.

ON (α, δ)-SKEW ARMENDARIZ RINGS

  • For a ring endomorphism $\alpha$ and an $\alpha$-derivation $\delta$, we introduce ($\alpha$, $\delta$)-skew Armendariz rings which are a generalization of $\alpha$-rigid rings and Armendariz rings, and investigate their properties. A semi prime left Goldie ring is $\alpha$-weak Armendariz if and only if it is $\alpha$-rigid. Moreover, we study on the relationship between the Baerness and p.p. property of a ring R and these of the skew polynomial ring R[x; $\alpha$, $\delta$] in case R is ($\alpha$, $\delta$)-skew Armendariz. As a consequence we obtain a generalization of [11], [14] and [16].

GENERALIZED SEMI COMMUTATIVE RINGS AND THEIR EXTENSIONS

  • For an endomorphism ${\alpha}$ of a ring R, the endomorphism ${\alpha}$ is called semicommutative if ab=0 implies $aR{\alpha}(b)$=0 for a ${\in}$ R. A ring R is called ${\alpha}$-semicommutative if there exists a semicommutative endomorphism ${\alpha}$ of R. In this paper, various results of semicommutative rings are extended to ${\alpha}$-semicommutative rings. In addition, we introduce the notion of an ${\alpha}$-skew power series Armendariz ring which is an extension of Armendariz property in a ring R by considering the polynomials in the skew power series ring $R[[x;\;{\alpha}]]$. We show that a number of interesting properties of a ring R transfer to its the skew power series ring $R[[x;\;{\alpha}]]$ and vice-versa such as the Baer property and the p.p.-property, when R is ${\alpha}$-skew power series Armendariz. Several known results relating to ${\alpha}$-rigid rings can be obtained as corollaries of our results.
