Objective: This descriptive, cross sectional study was conducted to examine the effect of levels of self-efficacy on children's perceptions of pros and cons of smoking. Methodology: The sample was 233 fifth-grade students. Data were collected in September 2010 using the Socio-Demographic Data Collection Form, Self Efficacy Scale Child Form and Child Decision Balance Scale and analyzed via percentage calculations and t test with the SPSS 11.00 statistical package program. Results: Average age of the students participating in the research was $11.1{\pm}0.41$, 49.8 % (n: 116) being female and 50.2 % (n:117) male. The difference between the score averages of the pros of smoking perceptions of children with a high self-efficacy level and of those with a low self efficacy level (t=2.117, p=.042) and the difference between the score averages of the cons of smoking perceptions of children with a high self-efficacy level and of those with a low self-efficacy level (t=2.206, p=.035) were found to be statistically significant. Conclusions: Children's positive perceptions of smoking were low and negative perceptions high when their self efficacy levels were high. Conversely, children's positive perceptions of smoking were high when their self efficacy levels were low.
Purpose: This study was done to provide fundamental data for the development of competency reinforcement programs to prevent addictive behavior in adolescents through the construction and examination of an addiction prevention core competency model. Methods: In this study core competencies for preventing addictive behavior in adolescents through competency modeling were identified, and the addiction prevention core competency model was developed. It was validated methodologically. Results: Competencies for preventing addictive behavior in adolescents as defined by the addiction prevention core competency model are as follows: positive self-worth, self-control skill, time management skill, reality perception skill, risk coping skill, and positive communication with parents and with peers or social group. After construction, concurrent cross validation of the addiction prevention core competency model showed that this model was appropriate. Conclusion: The study results indicate that the addiction prevention core competency model for the prevention of addictive behavior in adolescents through competency modeling can be used as a foundation for an integral approach to enhance adolescent is used as an adjective and prevent addictive behavior. This approach can be a school-centered, cost-efficient strategy which not only reduces addictive behavior in adolescents, but also improves the quality of their resources.
Many kinds of falling prevention systems with a safety block have been supplied in order to prevent falling accidents and acquire the long life and cost down for the maintenance. However, there are not the reliable and domestic the falling prevention system until now. Almost systems were imported from U.S.A, Japan, U.K and Germany. The structural safety of the imported safety block is satisfied sufficiently, but it has heavy weight due to the cover with the aluminum and thickness. Especially, the falling prevention system as the safety block is very expensive. It brings about flow the enormous money out of country. Furthermore it has a heavy weight when workers climbed the ladder with a falling prevention system and moved, many workers are not feeling themselves. Thus, the aim of this work is to develop a commercial self-escape SRL(Self Retracting Lifeline) with the safety block function that has a light weight and an advanced strength. The cost efficiency and convenience of the system and safety for workers also will be improved remarkably even though this system has a light weight. The results show that the maximum stress is obtained in each part by the lower more than yield strength and has sufficient safety in the developed new safety block.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to construct and test a structural equation model on resilience of breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. Methods: Participants were 204 patients with breast cancer who received chemotherapy treatment. They participated in a structured interview, which included social support, depression, symptom experience, self-efficacy, hope, resilience, and infection prevention behaviors. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 20.0 and AMOS 18.0. Results: Lower depression (${\gamma}=-.33$, p=.020) and symptom experience (${\gamma}=-.31$, p=.012) and higher self-efficacy (${\gamma}=.32$, p=.005) and hope (${\gamma}=.48$, p=.016) were influenced by higher social support. Greater resilience was influenced by lower symptom experience (${\beta}=-.18$, p=.016), higher self-efficacy (${\beta}=.49$, p=.023), and higher hope (${\beta}=.46$, p=.012), and these predictors explained 66.7% of variance in resilience. Greater resilience (${\beta}=.54$, p =.009) made an impact on greater infection prevention behaviors. Resilience mediated the relations of symptom experience (${\beta}=-.10$ p=.013), self-efficacy (${\beta}=.27$, p=.006) and hope (${\beta}=.25$, p=.009) with infection prevention behaviors. These predictors explained 24.9% of variance in infection prevention behaviors. Conclusion: The findings of the study suggest that breast cancer patients with greater resilience who are receiving chemotherapy participate in increased infection prevention behaviors. Further research should be conducted to seek intervention strategies that improve breast cancer patients' resilience.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the preliminary effects of applying a developed web-based video education program in patients with cancer receiving chemotherapy. Methods: A one-group pre-post test design was used. The web-based video education program to prevent infection consisted of 5 subjects. The program was confirmed to be valid by an expert group of doctors and nurses. Convenience sampling of 23 subjects was performed to evaluate the effectiveness of the web-based video education program. Data were analyzed based on nonparametric statistics using SPSS 25.0 software. Results: Per the results of the study, knowledge and self-management behavior of infection prevention significantly improved after application of the program; however, there was no significant difference in self-efficacy. Conclusion: It was confirmed that the web-based video education program is effective to improve the knowledge and self-management behavior of infection prevention. However, as a preliminary study, this study did not have external validity. Therefore, it is necessary to verify the effectiveness of the program through randomized controlled trials and confirm the true infection prevention effect that was not considered in this research design.
Purpose: This study was done to identify effects of a fall prevention program on physical fitness and psychological functions in community dwelling elders. Methods: A quasi-experimental study was carried out with a nonequivalent control group pre & post-test design. The program, which included exercises and education, consisted of a 12-week group program and an 8-week self-management program using a health calendar. An experimental group (32) and a control group (21) participated. Results: There were significant differences in SPPB (t=-3.92, p<.001), TUG test (t=4.94, p<.001), standing with right leg (t= -3.60, p=.001), standing with left leg (t=-3.74, p<.001), front and rear maximum step length test (t=-4.34, p<.001), right-left maximum step length test (t=-2.65, p=.011), and fall efficacy (t=-2.42, p=.019). Fall efficacy, fear of falling and depression showed significant differences following the 12-week exercise program and 8-week self-management program in the experimental group. Conclusion: Study findings indicate that the fall prevention program is an effective nursing intervention to enhance physical fitness and psychological functions for elders. Using a health calendar, the self-management program was more effective for psychological functions compared to only the group program. Therefore, health providers should develop diversified fall prevention programs which include motivation plans to encourage clients in participating.
Purpose - This paper aims at exploring the effects of failure types such as failure in promotion orientation and failure in prevention orientation on consumers' consumption behavior, and the moderation role of lay theories in the effects. Research design, data, and methodology - This study employed 2 between-subject designs(failure in promotion orientation vs. failure in prevention orientation) and also 2 (failure in promotion orientation vs. failure in prevention orientation) with implicit self as the within-subject. Chinese consumers participated in the empirical study, and to verify the hypotheses ANOVA, T-test and regression analysis were used. Results - Consumers were more likely to choose adaptive consumption behavior rather than compensatory consumption behavior when they were encountered with failure in promotion orientation versus failure in prevention orientation. Lay theories did play the moderation role in the effect of failure types on consumption behavior. The incremental theorists who think that effort is an important way to accomplish their learning goals showed more willingness to conduct compensatory consumption behavior rather than adaptive consumption behavior. Conclusions - Marketers should put more attention on the ways by which their products can help consumers self-improve when consumers encounter with failure. They should also be aware of the importance of consumers' mindsets when designing and developing advertising messages.

Purpose: This study was done to determine the effect of drinking prevention program on the levels of drinking related knowledge, attitude, drinking refusal self-efficacy and behavior in high school girls. Method: This was nonequivalent control group pre-post test design. The subjects were 133 high school girls who were conveniently assigned to experimental and control group. The data were collected from May to September, 2005 and analyzed using Chi-square test, t-test and ANCOVA. Results: 1. The 1st hypothesis, "The drinking-related knowledge score of experimental group will be significantly higher than that of control group in posttest" was supported (F=256.30, p= .001). 2. The 2nd hypothesis, "The drinking-related attitude score of experimental group will be significantly higher than that of control group in posttest" was supported (F=43.35, p= .001). The 3rd hypothesis, "The drinking refusal self-efficacy of experimental group will be significantly higher than that of control group in posttest" was supported (F=43.86, p= .001). 4. The 4th hypothesis, "The number of drinking of experimental group will be significantly lower than that of control group in posttest" was supported (F=6.12, p= .015). 5. The 5th hypothesis, "The drinking amount of experimental group will be significantly lower than that of control group in posttest" was supported (F=8.52, p= .004). 5. Conclusion: This drinking prevention program was effective in increasing the drinking-related knowledge and attitude, and the drinking refusal self-efficacy, and in reducing the drinking behavior of high school girls.
Objective: Improvements in diet can decrease the cancer rates. The aim of the present study was to determine the relationships between self-perception of diet quality and personality, impulsiveness, stress, coping strategy, sense of coherence, self-efficacy, and social support. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted using a multiple-stratified random sampling method based on the Korea Census of 2007. In October 2009, investigators conducted 15-minute face-to-face interviews with 1,530 South Korean volunteers who ranged from 30 to 69 years of age without a history of cancer. Results: Respondents were more likely to perceive that they consumed a healthy diet if they were older than 50 years, lived with a partner, had a monthly family income greater than $4,000 USD, had a low perceived risk of cancer, consumed less alcohol, exercised regularly, had a less agreeable or conscientious personality, had low stress levels, had a high sense of coherence or self-efficacy, and had ample social support. Conclusion: Psychosocial factors, such as personality, stress, sense of coherence, self-efficacy, and social support, are associated with the self-perception of diet quality. Analysis of the factors that contribute to a perceived healthy diet could assist with the design of educational campaigns.
Purpose: This study was to develop a smoking prevention educational program and to verify the effects of the program as an intervention to prevent smoking among high school students. Method: This study was designed by using a nonequivalent Quasi-experimental control group pretest-posttest. The instruments used in this study were scale on smoking prevention knowledge and attitude. The experimental group received 8 smoking prevention educational classes, each lasting 50-minutes every week. The collected data was analyzed by real number and percentage, Chi-Square test, t-test, ANCOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, Cronbach's α, using the SPSS WIN 11.0 program. Result: 1) After the completion of the smoking prevention education program, the experimental group's smoking knowledge scores(16.05±3.40) were higher than the control group's scores(14.39±3.81). Mean scores of smoking knowledge were statistically significantly different between the experimental group and the control group(F=38.700, p=.000). 2) After the completion of the smoking prevention education program, the experimental group's smoking prevention attitude scores were 47.52±5.30 and the control group's scores were 47.l0±5.54. Mean scores of attitude toward smoking prevention were statistically significantly different between the experimental group and the control group. 3) The relationship between smoking knowledge and attitude toward smoking prevention indicated positive correlation though the degree of positive correlation was low. Conclusion: Smoking prevention educational program which included self-search, smoking influence, adolescent smoking, family smoking, secondary smoking, self assertion using refusal skill was proved to be effective as an intervention for smoking prevention in high school students.
