Design and Implementation of a Location-Aware Tour Guide System for a Palace (위치-인식 기반 덕수궁 관광 가이드 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • The goal of our research is to develop a smart location-based self guided lour assistant as a context-aware real world application. As a context-aware tourist guide application, we hove been developing a PDA-based location-aware tourist guide application for the old palace Deoksugung in the center of Seoul. It will guide visitors to the palace with information about: current location, attractions nearby, and details about specific buildings. Rich multimedia support has been incorporated into the system to provide extra features to enhance the self-guided tour.

The Excavation and Making Storytelling of Cultural Landforms around Shincheon (stream), Guemho River in Daegu (대구 신천과 금호강 일대의 문화지형 발굴과 스토리텔링 구성)

  • This paper aims to excavate and make storytelling of cultural landforms around Shincheon, Geumho river in Daegu and then to build the strategy for making its application. The main results are as follows. 1) There are main cultural landforms such as Yongdubawi(龍頭岩, river cliff), river cliff, rock shelter(岩蔭), sheeting joint landform, river cave, tor, etc. around Shincheon. 2) there are main cultural landforms such as riverine wetland, ferry, point bar, river cliff, Hwadam(畵潭, pool), Donghwacheon(stream), Mutae(無怠), Chimsan(hill), Yeonamsan(hill), Sanghwadae(river cliff), etc. around Geumho river. 3) It is necessary to excavate and restore cultural landforms around Shincheon and Geumho river for protection, Also the valuable cultural landforms should be designated as cultural assets in order to prevent damage. 4) Considering from application of cultural landforms around Shincheon, natural observation site need to be designed for experiencing culture, history and ecological environment. However, in viewpoint of application of cultural landforms around Geumho river, it is much better to plan a few of Geumho river cultural landform trails for self-guided tour.

  • A college campus tour is a great opportunity to promote the school environment, facilities and history to visitors or prospective students. Along with the population of smart phones and the advancement of information and communication technologies, many universities have recently provided mobile applications for campus tour, and some are starting to utilize augmented reality technology. However, most of the existing campus tour augmented reality systems tended to present a description-oriented campus tour guide. Their main focus is simply to provide information about the campus's main buildings or symbols. This study focuses on self-guided tours of the campus through games making new students and visitors to get familiar with the campus in a more natural and intuitive way. In this paper we present the design and development of a location-based mobile augmented reality treasure hunt game to enhance the user experience.

Visitors' Attitudes about Interpretive Media in Weolchulsan National Park (월출산국립공원 탐방객의 환경해설 매체에 대한 탐방객 태도)

  • The purposes of this study were to provide basic visitor information for effective park management and to understand visitors' perception about the interpretive media which is utilized as a self-guide environmental interpretation in Weolchusan National Park. To accomplish the purposes of study, a questionnaire survey was chosen and the 196 valid samples among them were analyzed. Among who used the interpretive media, the largest proportion used the information board of park use-resources, and the usage rate of interpretive label of woody plant, interpretive sign of cultural asset, and self-guide tour were shown to be relatively high. However, the park brochures(map), bulletin boards, park web sites, LED sign, and visitor center exhibits were evaluated that use efficiency was low. In the analysis of importance-performance, visitors were perceiving the importance of all form of interpretive media greatly. The performance of interpretive media was also evaluated as affirmative.

A Development of an Automatic Itinerary Planning Algorithm based on Expert Recommendation (전문가 추천 경로 패턴화 방법을 활용한 자동여정생성 알고리듬)

  • In this study, we developed an algorithm for automatic travel itinerary planning based on expert recommendation. The proposed algorithm generates an itinerary by patterning a number of travel routes based on the automatic itinerary generation method based on the routes recommended by travel experts. To evaluate the proposed algorithm, we generated 30 itinerary for Singapore, Bankok, and Da Nang using both algorithms and analyzed the mean difference of trip distances with t-test and interater reliability of those itineraries. The result shows that the itineraries based on the proposed algorithm is not different from that of VRP(Vehicle routing problem) algorithm and interater reliability is high enough to show that the proposed algorithm is effective enough for real-world usage.
