  • Recently, as the current and future emission regulations go stringent, the research of NOx reduction has become a subject of increasing interest and attention in diesel engine. Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is one of the effective technology to reduce NOx emission from diesel engine. Especially, Urea-SCR that uses urea as a reductant is becoming increasingly popular as a cost effective way of reducing NOx emissions from heavy duty vehicles. In this research, we designed urea injector and DCU (Dosing Control Unit) specially developed for controlling the Urea-SCR process onboard vehicles. As passenger and commercial diesel engine experiment, we grasped characteristics of NOx emission and SCR catalyst temperature level in advance. As a result, highest NOx emission level was shown in condition of low engine speed and high load. On the other hand, SCR catalyst temperature was highest at high engine speed and load. On the basis of these result, we conducted the NOx reduction test at steady engine operating conditions using the urea injector and DCU. It was shown that 74% NOx conversion efficiency on the average and 97% NOx conversion efficiency was obtained at high SCR catalyst temperature.

  • With the issue of a Green IT Technology, studies on a environment-friendly luminous source that can reduce Carbon discharge and increase energy efficiency are actively progressed all over the world. Especially, with the problems of high oil price and environmental pollution, LED has made a great attention as a new luminous source that can replace the existing incandescent bulbs and fluorescent lights. In this paper, the proposed streetlight system becomes more intellectual by combining the low power consuming, high efficient, and high luminous LED module with a complex sensor module with temperature, humidity, illumination and motion sensors. Then, we design and implement the Ad-Hoc based LED-IT-Sensor integrated streetlight system that can maximize the energy savings efficiently with central monitoring system and selective remote dimming control by connecting them to the wireless ubiquitous sensor network(USN) using a Zigbee module.

  • As the national demand for solving the fine dust problem has increased, the government has announced intensive measures to deal with fine dust. So recently, selective catalytic reduction(SCR) has attracted attention as a technology for removing nitrogen oxides from precursors of fine dust. In this study, the government's policies related to fine dust and the current status of market and R&D were investigated, and economic analysis by scenarios was conducted by dividing cases where SCR technology was applied to industries. The results of economic analysis for each scenario were calculated using NPV, and companies with no denitrification facilities(Case 1) introduced general SCR technologies(Scenario 1-1) and low-temperature SCR technologies(Scenario 1-2). In addition, companies that have already installed denitrification facilities(Case 2) analyzed the two categories, using the general SCR technology as it is(Scenario 2-1) and replacing it with low-temperature SCR technology(Scenario 2-2). Comparative analysis was performed based on the results of each NPV.

  • $NO_X$ reducing technique such as LNT, LNC, and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) have been developed and applied, especially on heavy-duty vehicles. However, it is expected that $NO_X$ reduction techniques will also be applied to diesel passenger vehicles. The urea-SCR system is receiving attention as the most effective $NO_X$ reduction technology without a fuel penalty. Thus, many advanced countries are developing this technology. The urea-SCR system sprays an aqueous urea solution that separates $NO_X$ into $N_2$ and $H_2O$, which are harmless and emitted into the atmosphere. The urea injected in front of the SCR catalyst should be changed to 100% $NH_3$, which is required for $NO_X$ reduction in the SCR system to maximize the reduction efficiency. The purpose of this study was to determine the basic data for the urea-SCR system to maximize the $NO_X$ reduction efficiency by understanding the $NO_X$ reduction characteristics in a real passenger vehicle to comply with the post EURO-6 emission regulation.

  • Continued miniaturization and increasingly exact requirements for thin film deposition in the semiconductor industry is driving the search for new effective, efficient, selective precursors and processes. The requirements of defect-free, conformal films, and precise thickness control have focused attention on atomic layer deposition (ALD). ALD precursors so far have been developed through a trial-and-error experimental approach, leveraging the expertise and tribal knowledge of individual research groups. Precursors can show significant variation in performance, depending on specific choice of co-reactant, deposition stage, and processing conditions. The chemical design space for reactive thin film precursors is enormous and there is urgent need for the development of computational approaches to help identify new ligand-metal architectures and functional co-reactants that deliver the required surface activity for next-generation thin-film deposition processes. In this paper we discuss quantum mechanical simulation (e.g. density functional theory, DFT) applied to ALD precursor reactivity and state-of-the-art automated screening approaches to assist experimental efforts leading toward optimized precursors for next-generation ALD processes.

  • Grapehen, a single atomic layer of graphite, has been in the spotlight and researched in vaious fields, because its fine mechanical, electrical properties, flexibility and transparence. Synthesis methods for large-area graphene such as chemical vaper deposition (CVD) and mechanical, chemical exfoliation have been reported. In particular, chemical exfoliation method receive attention due to low cost process. Chemical exfoliation method require reduction of graphene oxide in the process of exfoliation such as chemical reduction by strong reductant, thermal reduction on high temperature, and optical reduction via ultraviolet light exposure. Among these reduction methods, optical reduction is free from damage by strong reductant and high temperature. However, optical reduction is economically infeasible because the high cost of short-wavelength ultraviolet light sorce. In this paper, we make graphene-oxide and lanthanoid ion mixture aqueous solution which has highly optical absorbency in selective wevelength region. Sequentially, we synthesize reduced graphene oxide (RGO) using the solution and visible laser beam. Concretely, graphene oxide is made by modified hummer's method and mix with 1 ml each ultraviolet ray absorbent Gd3+ ion, Green laser absorbent Tb3+ ion, Red laser absorbent Eu3+ ion. After that, we revivify graphene oxide by laser exposure of 300 ~ 800 nm layser 1mW/cm2 +. We demonstrate reproducibility and repeatability of RGO through FT-IR, UV-VIS, Low temperature PL, SEM, XPS and electrical measurement.

  • Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders, affecting approximately 5% of children. However, the neural mechanisms underlying its development and treatment are yet to be elucidated. In this study, we report that an ADHD mouse model, which harbors a deletion in the Git1 locus, exhibits severe astrocytosis in the globus pallidus (GP) and thalamic reticular nucleus (TRN), which send modulatory GABAergic inputs to the thalamus. A moderate level of astrocytosis was displayed in other regions of the basal ganglia pathway, including the ventrobasal thalamus and cortex, but not in other brain regions, such as the caudate putamen, basolateral amygdala, and hippocampal CA1. This basal ganglia circuit-selective astrocytosis was detected in both in adult (2-3 months old) and juvenile (4 weeks old) $Git1^{\check{s}/\check{s}}$ mice, suggesting a developmental origin. Astrocytes play an active role in the developing synaptic circuit; therefore, we performed an immunohistochemical analysis of synaptic markers. We detected increased and decreased levels of GABA and parvalbumin (PV), respectively, in the GP. This suggests that astrocytosis may alter synaptic transmission in the basal ganglia. Intriguingly, increased GABA expression colocalized with the astrocyte marker, GFAP, indicative of an astrocytic origin. Collectively, these results suggest that defects in basal ganglia circuitry, leading to impaired inhibitory modulation of the thalamus, are neural correlates for the ADHD-associated behavioral manifestations in $Git1^{\check{s}/\check{s}}$ mice.

  • In recent printed electronics technology, Photo-Sintering, a technique for sintering materials using a light source, has attracted attention as an alternative to time-consuming high-temperature thermal processes. The key principle of this technique is the selective heating of a strongly absorbent thin film, while preventing the heating of the transparent substrate by the light source. Many recent studies have used a flash lamp as the light source, and investigated the material-dependent effect of the width or intensity of the pulsed light. However, the flash lamp for sintering is not suitable for industry yet, because of needing too high power to sinter for a large scale. In energy-saving and large-scale sintering, LED technologies would be very useful in the near future. In this work, we investigated a sintering process for silver nanoparticles using UV-LED array. Silver nanoparticles in ink were inkjet-printed on a $1{\times}1cm$ area of a PET film and photo-sintered by 365 nm UV-LED module. A sheet resistance value as low as $72.6m{\Omega}/sq$ (2.3 - 4.5 times that of bulk silver) was obtained from the UV-LED sintering at 300 mW/cm2 for 50 min.
