In this paper, we propose a new turbo-coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission scheme that can improve greatly the performance by making all the turbo-coded symbols have the same reliability for OFDM transmission over a frequency selective fading channel. The same reliability, that is, the same fading can be accomplished through multiplexing of turbo-coded symbols using distinct orthogonal codes and spreading over the whole effective subcarriers (hereafter, called as the orthogonal code multiplexing (OCM)). As for the orthogonal code selection, we choose the set of the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) basis sequences, since the code set holds the orthogonality irrespective of the length and also has the equal energy property. We perform computer simulations using the Log-maximum-a-posteriori (Log-MAP) algorithm for iterative decoding in order to assess the performance of the proposed transmission scheme.
Multicarrier direct sequence code division multiple access (MC DS-CDMA) is an attractive technique for achieving high data rate transmission. This is valid regardless of whether or not the potentially large peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) is an important factor for its application. On the other hand, code select CDMA (CS-CDMA) is an attractive technique with constant amplitude transmission of multicode signal regardless of subchannels. This is achieved by introducing a code select method. In this paper, we propose a new multiple access scheme based on the combination of MC DS-CDMA and CS-CDMA. The proposed scheme, which we call MC CS-CDMA, includes as special cases the subclasses of MC DS-CDMA and CS-CDMA. This paper investigates the performance of these systems over a multipath frequency selective fading channel using a RAKE receiver with maximal ratio combiner. In addition, the PAPR of the proposed system is compared with that of both MC DS-CDMA and CS-CDMA. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed system provides better PAPR reduction than MC DS-CDMA, at the expense of the complexity of the receiver and the number of available users. The numerical result demonstrates that the proposed system has better performance than MC DS-CDMA due to the increased processing gain and time diversity gain.

In this paper, we propose a new interference cancellation(IC) receiver for multirate Multicarrier DS/CDMA(MC DS/CDMA) system based on orthogonal variable spreading factor(OVSF) code. The users are assigned different lengths of OVSF codes as a spreading code according to their data rates and the active users having same representative code split into a group for effective cancellation. The code grouping interference cancellation(IC) receiver performs cancellation between the groups first and cancellation within group. This proposed IC receiver can cancel the interferences using desired user's code information and then desired signals are detected. The results show that the large improvement in performance can be attained by group-wise IC scheme and we can make the effective systems compare to conventional ones. The bit error rate of the system is analytically derived in frequency selective Rayleigh fading channel and we also compare the system performance with that of multirate DS/CDMA system. We also analyze the performance of the proposed system with same bandwidth and processing gain. The results show the large improvement in performance that can be attained by cancellation scheme.
In this paper, we propose a new excitation enhancement technique to improve the speech quality of low bit-rate code-excited linear prediction (CELP) coders. The proposed technique is based on a harmonic model and it is employed only in the decoding process of speech coders without any additional bits. We develop the procedure of harmonic model parameter estimation and harmonic generation, and apply this technique to a current state-of-the-art low bit rate speech coder, ITU-T G.729 Annex D. Also, its performance is measured by using the ITU-T P.862 PESQ score and compared to those of the phase dispersion filter and the long-term postfilter applied to the decoded excitation. It is shown that the proposed excitation enhancement technique can improve the quality of decoded speech and provide better quality for male speech than other techniques.

This paper proposes a new multicarrier code division multiple access (CDMA) system. The proposed multicarrier CDMA system provides the advantages that the transmission bandwidth is more efficiently utilized by using divided spreading sequence, time and frequency diversity is achieved in frequency selective nultipath (acting channel, and inter-carrier interference (ICI) can be minimized by using specific data and code pattern. In this system, transmitted data bits are serial-to-parallel converted to some parallel branches. On each branch each bit is direct-sequence spread-spectrum modulated by divided spreading sequences and transmitted using orthogonal carriers. The receiver providers a Rake for each carrier, and the outputs of Rakes are combined to get time and frequency diversity. This multicarrier CDMA system allows additional flexibility in the choice of system parameters. Upon varying system parameters, bit error rate (BER) performance is examined for the proposed multicarrier CDMA system. Simulation results show that the proposed multicarrier CDMA scheme can achieve better performance than the other types of conventional multicarrier CDMA systems.
In this paper, we propose an adaptive turbo system for a varying channel between being frequency-flat and frequency-selective. The proposed system unites a turbo code and a turbo equalization and selects one of two algorithms adaptively to the channel variation with the feedback information from the receiver. The performance of the proposed system in varying channel is evaluated by computer simulation when the feedback delay exists. It is shown that when the feedback delay is moderate, the proposed system outperforms both the conventional turbo code system and turbo equalization system without increasing the complexity.

Addressed in this paper is performance analysis of the maximum-likelihood code acquisition technique for slotted-mode preamble search in the CDMA reverse link. The probabilities of detection, miss, and false alarm are derived analytically for a multiple $H_{1}$ cell case in a frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channel, based on the statics of the CDMA noncoherent demodulator output. the probability density function of the decision variable consisting of successive demodulator outputs is also derived by considering the fading characteristics of the received signal for both single and dual antenna cases. The performance of the code acquisition technique is evaluated numerically with an emphasis on investigating the effects of post-detection integration, fading rate, and antenna diversity on the detection performance.
The transmission capacity of wireless communication systems may become dramatically high by employ multiple transmit and receive antennas with space-time coding techniques appropriate to multiple transmit antennas. For large number of transmit antennas and at high bandwidth efficiencies, the receiver may become too complex whenever correlation across transmit antennas is introduced. Reducing decoding complexity at receiver by combining array processing and space-time codes (STC) helps a communication system using STC to overcome the big obstacle that prevents it from achieving a desired high transmission rate. Multi-carrier CDMA (MC-CDMA) allows providing good performance in a channel with high inter-symbol interference. Antenna array, STC and MC-CDMA system have a similar characteristic that transmit-receive data streams are divided into sub-streams. Thus, there may be a noticeable reduction of receiver complexity when we combine them together. In this paper, the combination of array processing and STC in MC-CDMA system over slow selective-fading channel is investigated and compared with corresponding existing MC-CDMA system using STC. A refinement of this basic structure leads to a system design principle in which we have to make a trade off between transmission rate, decoding complexity, and length of spreading code to reach a given desired design goal.

An irradiation hardening of Inconel 718 produced by selective laser melting (SLM) was studied based on the microstructural observation and mechanical behavior. Ion irradiation for emulating neutron irradiation has been proposed owing to advantages such as low radiation emission and short experimental periods. To prevent softening caused by the dissolution of γ' and γ" precipitates due to irradiation, only solution annealing (SA) was performed. SLM SA Inconel 718 specimen was ion irradiated to demonstrate the difference in microstructure and mechanical properties between the irradiated and non-irradiated specimens. After exposing specimens to Fe3+ ions irradiation up to 100 dpa (displacement per atom) at an ambient temperature, the hardness of irradiated specimens was measured by nano-indentation as a function of depth. The depth distribution profile of Fe3+ and dpa were calculated by the Monte Carlo SRIM (Stopping and Range of Ions in Matter)-2013 code under the assumption of the displacement threshold energy of 40 eV. A transmission electron microscope was utilized to observe the formation of irradiation defects such as dislocation loops. This study reveals that the Frank partial dislocation loops induce irradiation hardening of SLM SA Inconel 718 specimens.

The DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) database size increases tremendously transmuting from millions to billions in a year. Ergo for storing, probing the DNA database requires efficient lossless compression and encryption algorithm for secure communication. The DNA short pattern repetitions are of paramount characteristics in biological sequences. This algorithm is predicated on probing exact reiterate, substring substitute by corresponding ASCII code and engender a Library file, as a result get cumulating of the data stream. In this technique the data is secured utilizing ASCII value and engendering Library file which acts as a signature. The security of information is the most challenging question with veneration to the communication perspective. The selective encryption method is used for security purpose, this technique is applied on compressed data or in the library file or in both files. The fractional part of a message is encrypted in the selective encryption method keeping the remaining part unchanged, this is very paramount with reference to selective encryption system. The Huffman's algorithm is applied in the output of the first phase reiterate technique, including transmuting the Huffman's tree level position and node position for encryption. The mass demand is the minimum storage requirement and computation cost. Time and space complexity of Repeat algorithm are O(N2) and O(N). Time and space complexity of Huffman algorithm are O(n log n) and O(n log n). The artificial data of equipollent length is additionally tested by this algorithm. This modified Huffman technique reduces the compression rate & ratio. The experimental result shows that only 58% to 100% encryption on actual file is done when above 99% modification is in actual file can be observed and compression rate is 1.97bits/base.
