  • A high performance control and monitoring system for a high speed railway train requires a reliable the real-time communication network. TCN/WTB is designed for the data transmission over the train bus, and UIC556 defines that all the data be transmitted over TCN/WTB. This paper evaluates the performance of the link layer of WTB(Wired Train Bus). The evaluated results can be used for the selection of parameters for the sporadic message data.

  • This paper describes the characteristics and the criteria of electrical environmental effects produced from power system especially transmission line. Audible noise radio and TV interference, electric and magnetic inductions which are main items for optimal conductor selection as well as major contributors to the community complaint of electrical environmental problem, are surveyed and studied comparing with the criteria or the environmental protection regulation of domestic and foreign countries. As a result a domestic criteria of electrical environmental on power system was suggested.

  • The jumper devices of overhead power transmission lines are getting increased in size with the adoptation of higher voltage and bundled conductors. Increasement of jumper devices' size results in the cost increasement. Therefore, the adoptation of prefabricated jumper device is cost effective method in T/L. This papers are mentioned about selection of proper value of standard deviation for jumper devices by dynamic swing characteristics. And we are analyzed to effects for tower scheme and weight addition.

  • The code division multiple access (CDMA) system capacity is limited by the amount of interference of the system. To reduce the unnecessary interference, this paper proposes optimized cell identification (ID) codes for site selection diversity transmission (SSDT) power control in wideband code division multiple access system of third generation partnership project (3GPP). The proposed SSDT cell ID codes are designed to minimize the problem and to be easily decoded using simple fast Hadamard transformation (FHT) decoder.

  • In this paper, operation cost of the system is calculated by the probabilistic simulation method. And it is proved that only 20 iterative simulations are enough to get the result obtain by the Monte Carlo simulation method which requires more than 1000 iterative simulations. In the probabilistic simulation method we use the ranking of line contingency which is derived from the line countingency selection algorithm proposed in (2). In using this method the nature of the sparsity of the power system is used.

  • Though the digital transition of terrestrial TV has been completed, the transmission system for terrestrial radio has not been determined and terrestrial radio still keeps its analog transmission. This study, under coorientation model, aims to explore the cognitive difference in recognizing important factors to be considered in deciding the digital radio transmission system between the employees of terrestrial broadcasters and then crucial issues related to the factors are driven. It has been found that the most big cognitive difference among the employees of three major terrestrial broadcasters lies in selecting frequency band for digital radio transmission. But there was little difference of opinion on simultaneous production-transmission, efficiency of frequency usage, broadcast quality and standards of service. The most disputable point in transition to digital radio broadcasting is selecting the frequency band for digital radio between the frequency bands used for FM radio broadcast (88-108MHz), terrestrial DMB (VHF Ch7~13) and FM radio adjacent broadcast band (76~88MHz: VHF Ch5~6). So, the question concludes into the selection issue between DAB+, HD-Radio, and DRM+. To improve the quality of radio broadcasting service and enhance the satisfaction of listeners, it is desirable to allow to operate both production system and transmission station, to enhance high transmission efficiency with minimum transmission facility, and to permit new entrance of broadcasters.

CAN Data Compression Using DLC and Compression Area Selection (DLC와 전송 데이터 압축영역 설정을 이용한 CAN 데이터 압축)

  • Controller area network (CAN) was designed for multiplexing communication between electronic control units (ECUs) in vehicles and thus for decreasing the overall wire harness. The increasing number of ECUs causes the CAN bus overloaded and consequently the error probability of data transmission increases. Since the time duration for the data transmission is proportional to CAN frame length, it is desirable to reduce the frame length. In this paper, a CAN message compression method is proposed using Data Length Code (DLC) and compression area selection algorithm to reduce the CAN frame length and the error probability during the transmission of CAN messages. By the proposed method, it is not needed to predict the maximum value of the difference in successive CAN messages as opposed to other compression methods. Also, by the use of DLC, we can determine whether the received CAN message has been compressed or not without using two ID's as in conventional methods. By simulations using actual CAN data, it is shown that the CAN transmission data is reduced up to 52 % by the proposed method, compared with conventional methods. By using an embedded test board, it is shown that 64bit EMS CAN data compression can be performed within 0.16ms and consequently the proposed algorithm can be used in automobile applications without any problem.

A Design of Adaptive Impedance Tuning Circuit for UHF-Band Using λ/4 Transmission Line and π-Network (λ/4 전송 선로와 π-네트워크를 이용한 UHF-대역 적응형 임피던스 정합 회로 설계)

  • This paper describes a Adaptive Impedance Tuning Circuit which can be adaptively tuned between circuit's characteristic impedance and the arbitrary load impedance. The Adaptive Impedance Tuning Circuit is consisted of such parts as mismatch sensor, impedance tuner and tuning algorithm. Each parts's design methods proposed in other papers are compared with their advantages and disadvantages. And we propose simple design method for Adaptive Impedance Tuning Circuit using a ${\lambda}/4$ transmission line and ${\pi}$-network. Calculation formulas and selection algorithm from calculated values of a complex load impedance are proposed and simulation using induced calculation formulas and selection algorithm is performed. Simulation results show good agreement with theoretical predictions.

On the Performance of Zero-Forcing Beamforming with Semi-orthogonal User Selection in Clustered Cell Coordinated Transmission (제로 포싱 (zero-forcing) 빔 형성과 반직교 기반 사용자 선정을 이용한 클러스터 (cluster) 기반 셀 협력 전송 방식의 성능에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, a simple and efficient three cell based clustered-cell coordination is proposed with well hewn zero-forcing beamforming (ZF-BF) with a semi-orthogonal user selection (SUS) as transmission and scheduling scheme. For a modified Wyner's channel model with two classes of user groups for a hexagonal cellular system, the upper bound of asymptotic sum rate scaling of ZF-BF in a proposed coordination is shown to be proportional to the number of transmit antennas and double logarithms of the number of users. The numerical results verify the efficiency of the proposed cell coordination. It is also numerically shown that ZF-BF with the SUS in CCCT actually achieves the upper bound of asymptotic sum rate sum rate scaling.
