Quality of flours of 166 different wheat varieties and breeding lines from the 1980-1982 year crop was evaluated with Mixograph. Protein content had a correlation coefficient of 0.68 with sedimentation value and of 0.67 with bread volume. Sedimentation value showed highly significant correlation (r = 0.74) with bread volume. Positive significant correlations were found between protein content and sedimentation value vs. Mixography water-absorption, however the protein content and sedimentation value were not consistently related with mixing time or height to peak. Mixograph curve of the flour in a cultivar showed the specific pattern regardless the environmental conditions.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the sedimentation area and runout distance in the downstream when debris flow occurred on a mountain slope through an experimental performance. Super typhoons and torrential rains caused by climate change cause large-scale debris flow disasters in the downstream areas of mountainous areas, mainly where sediments are deposited and flowed downstream. To analyze the characteristics of the sediment deposited downstream, the disposition area and runout distance were investigated through experiments in the case of a straight channel and channel with berm, respectively. As experimental conditions, changes in sediment volume concentration and channel slope, and channel with or without berm, reduction rates in sedimentation area and runout distance were investigated. In the straight channel, the steeper the channel slope and the lower the sedimentation concentration, the sedimentation area and runout distnace were increased. In a channel with berm, the runout distance and sediment area increased as the slope became steeper and the sediment area decreased.
The study was undertaken to obtain indirect values of volume of packed red cell (VPRC) without centrifugation, using the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) of diluted blood in dogs. ESRs of diluted blood using the diluent of autologous plasma in which formed numerous RBC-rouleau clumps, autologous serum in which formed a few RBC-rouleau clumps, and 5% dextrose or 6% sucrose solutions in which formed numerous RBC-aggregation clumps, were accelerated. But, ESR of diluted blood using the 0.9% saline, D-S, ACD-B, CDP or D-PBS solutions were sluggish, because erythrocytes were dispersed in these diluents. Reliable values of VPRC on the basis of the correlating regressive equation to the ESR could be derived from values of$60^{\circ}$-angled-micro-ESR/40 min in the mixture, four parts of 5% dextrose solution and one part of whole blood. In the ESR values of diluted blood with low ratio, 1:1~3:1, $60^{\circ}$-micro-ESR was higher than $60^{\circ}$-Wintrobe-ESR. But, in the diluted blood with high ratio, 4:1~5:1, there was no different ESR values. For an aid of practical use, authers suggested a list of the $60^{\circ}$-micro-ESR/40 min in the diluted blood with equivalent VPRC of whole blood.
The purpose of this study is to derive indirect values of volume of packed red cell(VPRC), without centrifugation, from erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) of blood diluted with isotonic dextrose solution in cattle. Each of ten blood samples taken from apprently healthy Korean cows and Holstein cows was used to produce eight different mixture of autologous plasma and blood corpuscles such that their values of VPRC lay between 15 to 50ml/100ml, and then each of the blood mixture was again diluted with 5% dextrose solution. The measurements of ESR using 45 degree-angled capillary hematocrit tube, 1.1~1.2mm bore, ($45^{\circ}$-micro-ESR) were practised for the diluted blood of various levels of VPRC under the ambient temperature of $10^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$ and $30^{\circ}C$. Reliable values of VPRC on the basis of the correlating linear regressive equation to the ESR could be derived from the values of $45^{\circ}$-micro-ESR/hr in the mixture of one part of whole blood and one part of 5% dextrose solution(1:1). For an aid of practical use, authors suggested a list of the $45^{\circ}$-micro-ESR/hr values of the diluted blood equivalent to VPRC of whole blood.

The development of healthy beverages are increasing by big concerns for well-being. The aim of this study is to develop cultivated wild ginseng-Kyungohkgo (CKOG) beverage using cultivated wild ginseng instead of natural wild ginseng for Kyungohkgo. To examine physiochemical properties of CKOG beverage, pH, degree Brix, acidity, Huntor color, particle size and sedimentation volume were measured. When compared with commercial KOG beverage, CKOG beverage was lower in pH, acidity, particle size and higher in sedimentation volume. In the sensory evaluation of CKOG beverage, the best recipe of healthy CKOG beverage was 20% CKOG, 5.7% honey, 0.2% citric acid and 74.1% of water. In stability testing, pH, degree Brix, acidity, Huntor color of CKOG beverage was not changed, microbes in CKOG beverage was not detected for 60 days. These results suggest that CKOG may have a possibility of development as healthy beverage.

In this study, the changes in morphology of Dokdo's gravel beach and its responses due to a storm event were analyzed using the aerial photos and 3D LiDAR data obtained during an ecosystem survey of the Dokdo in 2020. Dongdo Island's gravel beach, shown by aerial photo analysis, increased in area due to sedimentation after the construction of a dock, but there was no more significant changes in area after having grown to Sutdolbawi inside the dock. The changes in volume of the gravel beach were indicated based on 3D data acquired in May and November 2020. A strong typhoon that passed in September, 2002, caused erosion on the backshore and sedimentation on the foreshore and formed the berm by about 1.5 to 2 m high. The analysis showed that the sedimentation was 94.76 m3 in volume and 329 m2 in area and the erosion was 250.75 m3 in volume and 603m2 in area, which suggested that the overall change of the gravel beach was erosion. The changes in the morphology of the gravel beach on Seodo Island occurred with the seasons along with the changes in area. In addition, berms of different altitudes appeared on the southern and northern sides of the spit, which was also estimated to have formed by the seasonal current direction and wave energy.
Generally, the sediments contain significant water, clay, colloidal fraction and contaminants, and can result in soft strata with high initial void, and its potential hazards in subsurface environments exist. Electrokinetic technique has been used in sedimentation for volume reduction of slurry tailing wastes and in remediation for extraction of contaminants from contaminated soils. In this research, the coupled effects of sedimentation and remediation of contaminated sediments are focused using electrokinetic sedimentation and remediation techniques from experimental aspects. A series of laboratory experiments including variable conditions such as initial solid content of the specimen, concentration level of the contaminant, and magnitude of applied voltage are performed with the contaminated sediment specimens mixed with ethylene glycol. Commercially available high specification Kaolin was used to simulate slurried sediment. From the test results, the settlement of specimen increases with increasing of applied voltage and decreasing of solid content and contamination level. The density of specimen increases due to settlement of specimen in the process of electrokinetic sedimentation and decreases due to extraction of organic contaminant in the process of electrokinetic remediation.

In this paper, analyzes the characteristics of self-weight consolidation on the dredged clay according to the fines content and falling height. Research was performed with the dredged clay sampled by Sae-mangeum field site. Classification of fines content was performed by sieve analysis test. After adjusting the fine content, self-weight consolidation tests were carried out focussing on the variation of fines content and falling heights. From the test results of the self-weight consolidation test, samples with high fines content had reached sedimentation completion more later than ones with less fine content samples. In other words, the start of self-weight consolidation was slowing down with increasing of fines content. Also, from the test results of calculating the coefficient of sedimentation consolidation, the coefficient value were increased with the fines content increases. In addition, the change of sedimentation ratio and volume ratio showed more higher changed value as the fine content increases. Thus, it is important to consider the fines content when estimate the settlement time of dredged soil in field dredge work.

Performance of a laboratory scale closed seawater recirculating aquaculture system was evaluated. Twenty-kg Korean rockfish (130 fish) with an average body weight of 153.8 g was stocked. Over 107-day culture period, fish reached final density of 51.7 kg/m$^3$ (initial density, 33.3 kg/m$^3$) on the culture tank volume basis. On a daily basis, water addition was 3.4% of the total water volume in the system. Total ammonia nitrogen (TAN)concentrations were below 1 mg/L and nitrite nitrogen (NO$_2$-N) concentrations were within the range of 1-3 mg/L on most sampling days. TAN was removedin bead and sand filters and it was removed or produced in the sedimentation basin. Basically, NO$_2$-N was removed in the bead and sand filters while it was either removed or produced in the sedimentation basin. Nitrate nitrogen (NO$_3$-N) was produced in the bead filters and removed in the sand filter and sedimentation basin. Foam fractionator performed well in the recirculating system. The maximal daily removal values for total suspended solids (TSS) and protein were 10,9 g and 1.4 g, respectively. Whole water quality parameters were within the levels commonly recommendedfor fish culture on most of the sampling days. However, further studies are needed to evaluate the commercial feasibility of this system because of the small-scale system used in present experiment. At least, present study still provides some basic information for further studies of this kind of system.
