We introduce a novel high-level security metrics objective taxonomization model for software- intensive systems. The model systematizes and organizes security metrics development activities. It focuses on the security level and security performance of technical systems while taking into account the alignment of metrics objectives with different business and other management goals. The model emphasizes the roles of security-enforcing mechanisms, the overall security quality of the system under investigation, and secure system lifecycle, project and business management. Security correctness, effectiveness and efficiency are seen as the fundamental measurement objectives, determining the directions for more detailed security metrics development. Integration of the proposed model with riskdriven security metrics development approaches is also discussed.

It has been widely addressed that static analysis techniques can play important role in identifying potential security vulnerability reside in source code. This paper proposes the design and application of security metrics that use both vulnerability information extracted from the static analysis, and significant factors of information that software handles. The security metrics are useful for both developers and evaluators in that the metrics help them identity source code vulnerability in early stage of development. By effectively utilizing the security metrics, evaluators can check the level of source code security, and confirm the final code depending on the characteristics of the source code and the security level of information required.

While users of information security products require high-quality products that are secure and have high performance, there are neither examples for evaluating the quality of information security products nor studies on the quality model and metrics for the quality evaluation. In this paper, information security products are categorized into three different types and the security and performance of various information security products are analyzed. Through this process and after consideration of information security products' security and performance, a new quality model that possesses 7 characteristics and 24 sub-characteristics has been defined. In addition, metrics consisting of 62 common and 45 extended metrics that can be used to evaluate the quality of information security products are introduced, and a proposition for a method of generating the quality evaluation metrics for specific information security products is included. The method of generating metrics proposed in this paper can be extended in order to be applied to a variety of information security products, and by generating and verifying the quality evaluation metrics for firewall, intrusion detection systems and fingerprint systems it is shown that it applicable on a variety of information security products.

To fulfill user expectations, the rapid evolution of software techniques and approaches has necessitated reliable and flawless software operations. Aging prediction in the software under operation is becoming a basic and unavoidable requirement for ensuring the systems' availability, reliability, and operations. In this paper, an improved evolutionary computing-driven extreme learning scheme (ECD-ELM) has been suggested for object-oriented software aging prediction. To perform aging prediction, we employed a variety of metrics, including program size, McCube complexity metrics, Halstead metrics, runtime failure event metrics, and some unique aging-related metrics (ARM). In our suggested paradigm, extracting OOP software metrics is done after pre-processing, which includes outlier detection and normalization. This technique improved our proposed system's ability to deal with instances with unbalanced biases and metrics. Further, different dimensional reduction and feature selection algorithms such as principal component analysis (PCA), linear discriminant analysis (LDA), and T-Test analysis have been applied. We have suggested a single hidden layer multi-feed forward neural network (SL-MFNN) based ELM, where an adaptive genetic algorithm (AGA) has been applied to estimate the weight and bias parameters for ELM learning. Unlike the traditional neural networks model, the implementation of GA-based ELM with LDA feature selection has outperformed other aging prediction approaches in terms of prediction accuracy, precision, recall, and F-measure. The results affirm that the implementation of outlier detection, normalization of imbalanced metrics, LDA-based feature selection, and GA-based ELM can be the reliable solution for object-oriented software aging prediction.
Under the influence of software security-enhanced development guidelines announced in 2012, secure coding practices become widely applicable in developing information systems aiming to enhance security capabilities. Although continuous enhancement activities for code security is important, management issues for code security have been less addressed in the guidelines. This paper analyses limitation of secure coding practices from the viewpoint of quality management. In particular this paper suggests structures and the use of software metrics from coding to maintenance phases so that it can be of help in the future by extending the use of security metrics.

As the IT industry developed, the information held by the company soon became a corporate asset. As this information has value as an asset, the number and scale of various cyber attacks which targeting enterprises and institutions is increasing day by day. Therefore, research are being carried out to protect the assets from cyber attacks by using the attack graph to identify the possibility and risk of various attacks in advance and prepare countermeasures against the attacks. In the attack graph, security metric is used as a measure for determining the importance of each asset or the risk of an attack. This is a key element of the attack graph used as a criterion for determining which assets should be protected first or which attack path should be removed first. In this survey, we research trends of various security metrics used in attack graphs and classify the research according to application viewpoints, use of CVSS(Common Vulnerability Scoring System), and detail metrics. Furthermore, we discussed how to graft the latest security technologies, such as MTD(Moving Target Defense) or SDN(Software Defined Network), onto the attack graphs.

Large software systems are being produced with a noticeably higher level of quality with component-based software engineering (CBSE), which places a strong emphasis on breaking down engineered systems into logical or functional components with clearly defined interfaces for inter-component communication. The component-based software engineering is applicable for the commercial products of open-source software. Software metrics play a major role in application development which improves the quantitative measurement of analyzing, scheduling, and reiterating the software module. This methodology will provide an improved result in the process, of better quality and higher usage of software development. The major concern is about the software complexity which is focused on the development and deployment of software. Software metrics will provide an accurate result of software quality, risk, reliability, functionality, and reusability of the component. The proposed metrics are used to assess many aspects of the process, including efficiency, reusability, product interaction, and process complexity. The details description of the various software quality metrics that may be found in the literature on software engineering. In this study, it is explored the advantages and disadvantages of the various software metrics. The topic of component-based software engineering is discussed in this paper along with metrics for software quality, object-oriented metrics, and improved performance.
The emerging field of Science of Security (SoS) is a new paradigm that emerged in the field of security as a research field that applied the scientific approach to cyber security. It is a direction to study the formal model and automation field to secure the security of such a network environment in the present that dynamic change of complex, large scale network environment and a lot of protocol and mechanism environment exists. Therefore, this study analyzes the latest cyber security research trends such as SoS and examines the research trends of advanced countries to examine a new approach to cyber security development direction in Korea. We also analyze the current state of domestic scientific research on the scientific security research methods for various cyber security paradigms and present directions for revitalizing domestic cyber security.

School Networks environment is implemented in many schools to support educational activities for networking resources required in teaching-teaming activities with government initiative. On the other hand, the open system in school which are used in internet in internet do considerable damage committed by intruder and cracker to the preservation of computer data and system due to second schools security state. Therefore this study is to present assortment in information resources of schools, security items and problem. finally, we give the effective and systematic metrics of estimates for security of secondary schools in information resources parts.
