In this paper, we propose an active water level and distance measurement algorithm using a light beam pattern. On behalf of conventional water level gauge types of pressure, float-well, ultrasonic, radar, and others, recently, extensive research for video analysis based water level measurement methods is gradually increasing as an importance of accurate measurement, monitoring convenience, and much more has been emphasized. By turning a reference light beam pattern on bridge or embankment actively, we suggest a new approach that analyzes and processes the projected light beam pattern image obtained from camera device, measures automatically water level and distance between a camera and a bridge or a levee. As contrasted with conventional methods that passively have to analyze captured video information for recognition of a watermark attached on a bridge or specific marker, we actively use the reference light beam pattern suited to the installed bridge environment. So, our method offers a robust water level measurement. The reasons are as follows. At first, our algorithm is effective against unfavorable visual field, pollution or damage of watermark, and so on, and in the next, this is possible to monitor in real-time the portable-based local situation by day and night. Furthermore, our method is not need additional floodlight. Tests are simulated under indoor environment conditions from distance measurement over 0.4-1.4m and height measurement over 13.5-32.5cm.
The precision and reliability of the Computer Image Analysis technique using a desk top computer for extracting information from carcass cross section scans was evaluated by the repeatability (R) and coefficient of variation (CV) for error variance. The 6th and 7th ribs cross section of carcasses from 55 fattened Japanese Black steers were used. The image analysis was conducted using a desk top computer (Macintosh-Apple Vision 1710 Display) connected to a scanner and an image capture camera. Two software applications, Adobe Photoshop and Mac Scope were used interchangeably. The information extracted and measured were individual muscle area, circumference length, long and short axes lengths, muscle direction; distance between any two muscle centers of gravity; cross section total area, lean, fat, and bone. The information was extracted after the processes of scanning, digitization, masking, muscle separation, and binarization. When using the Computer Image Analysis technique by desk top computer, proper digitization and selection of scanning resolution are very important in order to obtain accurate information. The R-values for muscle area, circumference, long and axes lengths, and direction ranged from 0.95 to 0.99, whereas those of the distance between any two muscle centers of gravity ranged from 0.96 to 0.99, respectively. For the cross section total area, lean, fat, and bone it ranged from 0.83 to 0.99. Excellent repeatability measurements were observed for muscle direction and distance between any two muscle centers of gravity. The results indicate that the Computer Image Analysis technique using a desk top computer for extracting information from carcass cross section is reliable and has high precision.
The purpose of this visualization study is to investigate the effect of reduced frequency qualitatively by examining wake patterns for dragonfly flight motion. Dragonflies have two pairs of wing (a forewing and hindwing) and flight is achieved by a pitching and plunging, so it makes a separation over the wings. The separation affects the wake pattern and changed wake pattern has an influence on lift, drag, and propulsion. This experiment was conducted by using a smoke wire technique and a camera fixed above the test section used to take a photograph of the wake. An electronic device is mounted below the test section to find the exact mean positional angle of the wing. The reduced frequency in the experiment is 0.15, 0.3 and 0.45. Results show that reduced frequency is closely related to the wake pattern that determines flight efficiency.
In this paper, experimental data on flow pattern transition of inclination angles from 0-90 are presented. A test section is constructed 2 mm long and I.D 1inch using transparent material. The test section is supported by aluminum frame that can be placed with any arbitrary inclined angles. The air-water two-phase flow is observed at room temperature and atmospheric condition using both high speed camera and void impedance meter. The signal is sampled with sampling rate 1kHz and is analyzed under fully-developed condition. Based on experimental data, flow pattern maps are made for various inclination angles. As increasing the inclination angels from 0 to 90, the flow pattern transitions on the plane jg-jf are changed, such as stratified flow to plug flow or slug flow or plug flow to bubbly flow. The transition lines between pattern regimes are moved or sometimes disappeared due to its inclined angle.

This study proposes a remote monitoring of patients and emergency notification system with a camera and pulse wave sensor for U-Healthcare. The proposed system is a server client model based U-Healthcare system which consists of wireless clients that have micro-controller, embedded-board for patient status monitoring and a remote management server. The remote management server observes the change of pulse wave data individually in real-time sent from the clients that is to be remote-monitored based on the pulse wave data stored by users and divides them into caution section and emergency section. When the pulse wave data of a user enters an emergency situation, the administrator can make a decision based on the real-time image information and pulse rate variability. When the status of the monitored patient enters the emergency section, the proposed U-healthcare system notifies the administrator and relevant institutions. An experiment was conducted to demonstrate the pulse wave recognition of the proposed system.

This work present a new method of sealing inspection system for vehicle in which foam rubber materials are used for sealing the vehicle parts. This system is composed from a devices comprising non-contact and real-time scanning on visual inspection in machine parts. We have been investigated qualitative factors that influenced on sealing system of vehicle structure which flexibly attenuated vibration and plenty of foam rubber materials having elastic property. However, there are different factors which still depended on outdated technique (personnel subjective judgment) in the performance inspection of rubber parts, specially for cross section inspection. Through a newly developed inspection system which recently applied for the production line, we successfully achieved more effective results of matching rate by about 80 % in the sealing performance inspection with 0.7% to 1.4% in the repeated errors. These are resulted from non-contacted response by CCD camera and vision program using geometry matching method. We expect that this system may be widely applied in the strict inspection parts of more diverse cross-section in future.
In this paper spectral characteristics and spectral patterns of pine wilt disease at different development stage were analyzed in Geoje-do where the disease has already spread. Ground-based hyperspectral imaging containing hundreds of wavelength band is feasible with continuous screening and monitoring of disease symptoms during pathogenesis. The research is based on an hyperspectral imaging of trees from infection phase to witherer phase using a ground based hyperspectral camera within the area of pine wilt disease outbreaks in Geojedo for the analysis of pine wilt disease. Hyperspectral imaging through hundreds of wavelength band is feasible with a ground based hyperspectral camera. In this research, we carried out wavelength band change analysis on trees from infection phase to witherer phase using ground based hyperspectral camera and comparative analysis with major vegetation indices such as Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Red Edge Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (reNDVI), Photochemical Reflectance Index (PRI) and Anthocyanin Reflectance Index 2 (ARI2). As a result, NDVI and reNDVI were analyzed to be effective for infection tree detection. The 688 nm section, in which withered trees and healthy trees reflected the most distinctions, was applied to reNDVI to judge the applicability of the section. According to the analysis result, the vegetation index applied including 688 nm showed the biggest change range by infection progress.
In this paper, we propose the development of high resolution $360^{\circ}$ omnidirectional IP camera with 12 million pixels. The proposed 12-megapixel high-resolution $360^{\circ}$ omnidirectional IP camera consists of a lens unit with $360^{\circ}$ omnidirectional viewing angle and a 12-megapixel high-resolution IP camera unit. The lens section of $360^{\circ}$ omnidirectional viewing angle adopts the isochronous lens design method and the catadioptric facet production method to obtain the image without peripheral distortion which is inevitably generated in the fisheye lens. The 12 megapixel high-resolution IP camera unit consists of a CMOS sensor & ISP unit, a DSP unit, and an I / O unit, and converts the image input to the camera into a digital image to perform image distortion correction, image correction and image compression And then transmits it to the NVR (Network Video Recorder). In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed 12-megapixel high-resolution $360^{\circ}$ omnidirectional IP camera, 12.3 million pixel image efficiency, $360^{\circ}$ omnidirectional lens angle of view, and electromagnetic certification standard were measured.
Purpose: Oral hygiene, maintained through plaque control, helps prevent periodontal disease and dental caries. This study was conducted to examine the accuracy of plaque detection with an intraoral scanner(IOS) compared to images captured with an optical camera. Materials and Methods: To examine the effect of color tone, artificial tooth resin samples were stained red, blue, and green, after which images were acquired with a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera and an IOS device. Stained surface ratios were then determined and compared. Additionally, the deviation rate of the IOS relative to the DSLR camera was computed for each color. In the clinical study, following plaque staining with red disclosing solution, the staining was captured by the DSLR and IOS devices, and the stained area on each image was measured. Results: The stained surface ratios did not differ significantly between DSLR and IOS images for any color group. Additionally, the deviation rate did not vary significantly across colors. In the clinical test, the stained plaque appeared slightly lighter in color, and the delineation of the stained areas less distinct, on the IOS compared to the DSLR images. However, the stained surface ratio was significantly higher in the IOS than in the DSLR group. Conclusion: When employing IOS with dental plaque staining, the impact of color was minimal, suggesting that the traditional red stain remains suitable for plaque detection. IOS images appeared relatively blurred and enlarged relative to the true state of the teeth, due to inferior sharpness compared to camera images.
In this study, an FPGA-based sealer inspection system was developed to inspect the sealer applied to install vehicle glass on a car body. The sealer is a liquid or paste-like material that promotes adhesion such as sealing and waterproofing for mounting and assembling vehicle parts to a car body. The system installed in the existing vehicle design parts line does not detect the sealer in the glass rotation section and takes a long time to process. This study developed a line laser camera sensor and an FPGA vision signal processing module to solve this problem. The line laser camera sensor was developed such that the resolution and speed of the camera for data acquisition could be modified according to the irradiation angle of the laser. Furthermore, it was developed considering the mountability of the entire system to prevent interference with the sealer ejection machine. In addition, a vision signal processing module was developed using the Zynq-7020 FPGA chip to improve the processing speed of the algorithm that converted the profile to the sealer shape image acquired from a 2D camera and calculated the width and height of the sealer using the converted profile. The performance of the developed sealer application inspection system was verified by establishing an experimental environment identical to that of an actual automobile production line. The experimental results confirmed the performance of the sealer application inspection at a level that satisfied the requirements of automotive field standards.
