Numerical Investigation of 2DCD Nozzle Flow Having a Secondary Jet Injection for Thrust Vector Control (추력벡터제어를 위한 이차 분사유동이 있는 2DCD 노즐 내부의 수치적 연구)

  • A numerical solution procedure has been developed to analyze the flow field resulted from the injection of a transverse jet through the divergent flap of a 2DCD nozzle for thrust vector control. The formulation employs the compressible Navier-Stokes equations in conservation law form and a two equation $\kappa-\omega$ turbulence model. Detailed numerical results are presented in this paper for the 2DCD nozzle over a range of secondary to primary injection mass flow ratios and nozzle pressure ratios.

  • In general, lateral ride comfort of railway vehicle is mainly influenced by a secondary suspension placed between the bogie and carbody. Higher operating speeds of train results in increased vibration of carbody, which has a negative impact related to the ride comfort. To solve this problem, researches to replace the conventional passive suspension with (semi)active technology in the secondary suspension of a railway vehicle have been carried out. The semi-active suspension using the magneto-rheological damper is relatively simpler system and has advantage in maintenance compared to the hydraulic type semi-active damper. This study was performed to reduce lateral vibration acceleration of carbody related to ride comfort of railway vehicles with a semi-active suspension system. The numerical analysis was conducted by replacing passive lateral damper with semi-active MR damper, and robust control with the MR damper was applied to the 1/5 scaled railway vehicle model.

Effects of Control Attribution, Demand-Control-Support Model, and Control Strategy on Elderly Workers' Subjective Well-Being (노인 일자리 사업 참여자의 통제 귀인과 활동의 요구-조절-지지 정도 및 통제 전략이 자신의 주관적 안녕감에 미치는 영향)

  • This study tested the path model with regard to how certain variables (control attribution, demand-control-support of activity, and control strategy) affected the elderly workers' subjective well-being(swb). In the path model, the exogenous variables were internal and external control attribution. We used demand-control-support of activity, and primary and secondary control strategies as mediating variables. The endogenous variable was each elderly worker's swb. Study participants were 205 elders participating in an "education activity". We used descriptive statistical analysis, Pearson's correlation and hierarchical multiple regression to examine data collected from structured interviews with the participants. Path analysis revealed the followings: First, secondary control strategy was the strongest predictor of participants' swb but internal control attribution, demand of activity, and support of activity also positively affected participants' swb. Second, internal control attribution indirectly affected the participants' swb. Finally primary control strategy negatively affected on the participants' swb.

Elimination of respiratory pathogens in endemically infected swine herds by nursery depopulation (Nursery depopulation 기법에 의한 돼지 호흡기질병 상재돈군의 호흡기 병인체 전파방지에 관한 연구)

  • Recently new technologies for the establishment of high health herds are becoming efficient tools in the control of PRRS virus and secondary infections. Medicated early weaning(MEW) and nursery depopulation(ND) have shown to be one of the most successful procedures in the eradication and control of pathogens. Indirect evidence of the role of PRRSV in precipitating secondary infection comes from successful improvement in growth and in decreasing mortality on farms that have eliminated PRRSV through ND. Hence the present experiments were conducted in an effort to compare ND with MEW procedures as a means of eliminating PRRSV controlling secondary pathogens and improving performance of pigs in endemically infected swine herds. Following MEW and ND procedures practiced in the farms, some benefits obtained were as follows: 1. A decrease in PRRSV circulation in the nursery, but no entire elimination. 2. Decrease in the frequency of secondary bacteria and in the use of antibiotics. 3. Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae infection was prevented during the nursery stage. 4. ND protocol had a lower cost and management changes than MEW techniques. 5. Nursery performance was improved after the depopulation, cleaning and disinfection procedures, even though PRRSV still being cycled in the old nursery rooms. These studies revealed that the MEW and ND protocols are not always successful for PRRS virus elimination but it's great effect on control of secondary pathogens and improvement of performance make MEW and ND an efficient tools for the establishment of healthier and more efficient herds.

An Effect of the Secondary Stroke Prevention Education Program on Self-care of Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients (뇌졸중 이차예방 교육프로그램이 급성기 허혈성 뇌졸중환자의 자가간호수행에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the effects of the secondary stroke prevention education program to inhibit the recurrence of the acute ischemic stroke patients, and to maintain and promote knowledge about stroke, self-efficacy and self-care. Method: This study was designed to take a quasi-experimental pre- and post-test with the nonequivalent control group. The experimental group consists of 20 patients and control group consists of 20 patients. The experimental group was applied the secondary stroke prevention education program. In order to verify the effects of the secondary stroke prevention education program, knowledge about stroke, self-efficacy and self-care scale were measured before the intervention and 4 weeks, 12 weeks after discharge. The tools for measuring knowledge about stroke, self-efficacy and self-care are developed by the researcher. The data was analyzed by SPSS win 10.0 program using $x^2-test$, Fisher's Exact Test, t-test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov Z, and Repeated Measures ANOVA. Result: There was a statistically significant difference in knowledge about stroke (F=4.021, p=.026), self-efficacy(F=6.096, p=.018), and self-care(F=8.026, p=.007) between the experimental and the control group after intervention. Conclusion: It is considered that the program can be used as an effective nursing intervention in clinical practice.

  • In this paper, design procedures of a linear induction motor(LIM) with squirrel cage secondary are presented. The electrical and magnetic loadings are determined by the conventional criteria of the linear induction motors with sheet secondary. Electromagnetic fields of the designed motor are analyzed using finite element method, and characteristics of thrust and currents are presented.

  • This paper investigates active noise control(ANC) of a rectangular cavity using single channel filtered-x least mean square(FXLMS) algorithms to reduce interior noise globally. To obtain global reduction of the interior noise, multichannel active control should be incorporated in general. We, however, examined firstly the optimal location of the secondary speaker that produces a global reduction of the interior noise field. We then investigated the frequency characteristics of the reduction to yield the effective frequency band of the active control system. It follows that the secondary speaker should be located as close to the primary source as possible in order to obtain global reduction.

  • This paper presents a position control system for a linear induction motor(LIM) with cage-type secondary using direct thrust control(DTC). Also it presents a virtual instrumentation(VI) system for LIMs performance monitoring. The VI is designed using the graphical programming language LabVIEW and is capable of performing measurement functions, including data acquisition, display, and analyses at the same time. This paper reports the LIM's responses of the thrust, current, speed, and flux measured by the proposed monitoring system.

  • In this study, a novel hydraulic energy-regenerative system was presented from its proposal through its modeling to its control. The system was based on a closed-loop hydrostatic transmission and used a hydraulic accumulator as the energy storage system in a novel configuration to recover the kinetic energy without any reversion of the fluid flow. The displacement variation in the secondary unit was reduced, which widened the uses of several types of hydraulic pump/motors for the secondary unit. The proposed system was modeled based on its physical attributes. Simulation and experiments were performed to evaluate the validity of the employed mathematical model and the energy recovery potential of the system. The experimental results indicated that the round trip recovery efficiency varied from 22% to 59% for the test bench.

  • This paper presents a new PWM DC/DC converter with multi-output using single secondary winding, which has two output characteristics of the isolation and non-isolation simultaneously. The proposed converter topology is consisted of the only one switch and single secondary winding. The proposed converter, therefore, has advantages not only low cost but also high power density. Operating principal of the proposed converter topology with conventional ZVT (Zero-Voltage-Transition) is illustrated in detail and the validity of the converter is verified with several interesting simulation results.
