The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of mirror therapy on motor function recovery following a stroke through a systemic review and meta-analysis. In total, nine of the 48 studies were identified from search engines between 1997 and 2011, as well as from a review of the reference lists of each identified study. The quality of each study was assessed using Jadad scale, and the effect size was calculated as a Cohen's effect size using MetaAnalyst (Beta 3.13). The overall effect size of the mirror therapy was 2.005 (95% confidence interval=1.041~2.970) in a random-effects model. This finding suggests that mirror therapy is beneficial for improving motor function following a stroke. The results from the subgroup analysis according to categorical variables were as follows: First, the effect size was larger for an onset time of less than 1 year (1.166) than for a duration of 1 year or more (.668). Second, the effect size of unpublished dissertations (1.610) was larger than published articles (1.221). Third, motor recovery of upper extremities (1.609) had a greater effect than motor recovery of lower extremities (.903). The major limitation of this study is the relatively small study population. Therefore, further individual studies of mirror therapy should be conducted in order to generalize the effects. In addition, mirror therapy supervised by a physical therapist should be recognized as a potential approach to manage motor function following a stroke and recommended to patients to improve their motor function.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between marriage migration females' acculturative stress and marital adjustment, especially the mediating and moderating effects of ego-resilience. The structural equation models were tested by setting marriage migration females' acculturative stress as a prediction variable, their marital adjustment as an outcome variable and their ego-resilience as mediator and moderator variables. The sample consisted of 172 marriage migration females from Busan. I analyzed the data using correlation analysis in order to discover the correlation coefficient of those variables among acculturative stress, ego-resilience and marital adjustment. I used the structural equation model (SEM) for investigating the relationship among acculturative stress, ego-resilience and marital adjustment and for investigating the mediating effects of ego-resilience. I also used multiple group analysis and two way ANOVA to investigate the moderating effects of ego-resilience. The results of structural equation modeling were as follows: first, it was proved that ego-resilience was exerted as a mediating variable, because acculturative stress appeared to affect marital adjustment in relation to ego-resilience. Therefore, marital adjustment was evident when ego-resilience was low. Second, it was proved that ego-resilience was exerted as a moderating variable, because those with low ego-resilience experienced high acculturative stress and low marital adjustment, and those with high ego-resilience experienced low acculturative stress and high marital adjustment. Such findings point out the importance of considering personal characteristics, like ego-resilience, in the relationship between acculturative stress and marital adjustment.

The study analyzed effects of the problem-based learning utilizing cognitive algorithms in elementary mathematics education in terms of academic achievement and math attitude changes. In order to solve the research questions, a cognitive algorithm-based PBL model was derived based on N. Landa's algorithm-based instructional design theory. And the model was applied to a part of second semester math curriculum for 4th grade of an elementary school located in Seoul. The results showed that the PBL utilizing algorithms can be said to have effects on academic achievement. The PBL model is also considered to have positive effects in enhancing mathematical attitudes of the learners.
Objective: Since Ulmus davidiana Planch (Ulmaceae) has been known to have anti-inflammatory and protective effects on damaged tissue, inflammation and bone among other functions, this study was undertaken to address whether the water extract of the bark of Ulmus davidiana Planch (Ulmaceae) (UD) could modulate the expression of inducible inflammatory cytokines in mice. The present study was also done in order to assess the therapeutic effects of UD in collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) in mice. Methods : DBA/1 mice were immunized with bovine type II collagen. After a second collagen immunization, mice were treated with UD orally at 100 mg/kg once a day for 3 weeks. Paws were evaluated macroscopically for redness, swelling and deformities. The levels of $TNF-{\alpha}\;and\;IL-1{\beta}$ in the ankle were examined. The severity of arthritis within the knee joints was evaluated by histological assessment of cartilage destruction and pannus formation. Results : Administration of UD significantly suppressed the progression of CIA and inhibited the production of $TNF-{\alpha}\;and\;IL-1{\beta}$ in the paws. The erosion of cartilage was dramatically reduced in mouse knees after treatment with UD. In the serum of UD-treated mice, the levels of IL-4 and IL-10, anti-inflammatory cytokines, were increased. Conclusion : From the results, it was concluded that administration of UD has therapeutic effects on CIA including protection of cartilage and RA for a potential therapy.

The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of social support perceived by multicultural youth on learning adaptation and to identify the indirect effects of self-esteem and achievement motivation in this relationship. In order to analyze these relationships through structural equation model analysis, panel data were used for the seventh year of multicultural youth (2017). As a result of the analysis, first, the social support, self-esteem and achievement motivation perceived by multicultural youth had a significant influence on learning adaptation. Second, self-esteem of multicultural youths had a significant effect on social support. Third, the influence of social support perceived by multicultural youth on learning adaptation was found to have indirect effects through self-esteem and achievement motivation as well as direct effects. Based on these findings, this study suggested practical intervention plans to improve social support and learning adaptation of multicultural youths.
The purpose of the study is to examine the effects of peer relationships and parental relationships on suicidal ideation in elementary school students and the mediating effects of anxiety in the process. For this purpose, 273 students in grades 4-6 of elementary school are examined for path analysis of peer relationship, convergent parent relationship, anxiety and suicidal ideation. The main results are as follows. First, anxiety of elementary school students is found to be fully mediating between peer relationship and suicidal ideation. Second, the anxiety of elementary school is found to be partly mediating between parental relationship and suicidal ideation. Therefore, in order to lower the suicidal ideation of the upper grades students of elementary school, developing various programs to reduce anxiety factors and apply them to the practice field is desired.
Purpose: Social Network Sites(SNS) have been grown up as a public communication channel consumer frequently participate in. Most of food service brands are utilizing social media for advertising recently. As a result of SNS marketing, food service brands anticipate positive outputs from SNS engagement and consumer brand engagement so that we need to verify structural relationship among SNS characteristics, SNS engagement and consumer brand engagement. Research design, data, and methodology: This study identifies that SNS characteristics have effects on SNS engagement and examines relationship between SNS engagement and behavioral engagement. We conceptualize SNS characteristics as information quality, hedonic level and interaction. Furthermore, SNS engagement is composed of SNS participation, positive word of mouth(WOM). In order to verify the purposes of this research, research model and hypotheses were developed. All constructs were measured with multiple items developed and tested in the previous studies. Sample data were collected from 433 online survey panels and analyzed by using SmartPLS 3.2.9. Result: The findings of this research are as follows. First, information quality is positively related with SNS participation. Hedonic level and interaction have impacts on SNS participation and positive WOM respectively. Second, SNS participation has positive effects on positive WOM. Third, both SNS participation and WOM influence behavioral engagement respectively. Conclusions: The implications demonstrate that SNS characteristics such as information quality and hedonic level and interaction exert effects for consumer to participate in SNS brand page. Meanwhile, hedonic level and interaction influence on positive WOM but information quality doesn't. SNS participation and positive WOM affect consumer to engage in specific brand behaviorally as well. Therefore, food service brand marketer is required to manage SNS information quality and hedonic level and interaction among members to encourage SNS participation and positive WOM. As SNS participation and positive WOM increases behavioral engagement of consumer, marketer needs to incentivize SNS participation and look after situation of positive WOM and respond swiftly.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Recent studies have reported chocolate consumption has beneficial effects on blood pressure, obesity, and dyslipidemia, which are components of metabolic syndrome (MetS). However, evidence regarding these relationships in Asia is limited. The aim of this study was to investigate relations between chocolate consumption and MetS in Korea. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Study subjects were 6,982 adults aged 19-64 years free of major chronic diseases that participated in the 2014-2016 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Information on chocolate consumption was obtained using food frequency questionnaires. For primary analysis, subjects were divided into two groups: non-consumer (n = 3,741, 53.6%); consumer (n = 3,241, 46.4%). In order to investigate dose-response effects on MetS, chocolate consumers were divided into quartiles based on amounts consumed: Q1 (n = 789, 24.3%); Q2 (n = 837, 25.8%); Q3 (n = 863, 26.6%); Q4 (n = 752, 23.2%) in second analysis. RESULTS: Chocolate consumers; 1) were more physically active(P < 0.0001); 2) less likely to smoke(P < 0.0001); 3) paid more attention to food nutrition labels (P < 0.0001), and 4) had healthier dietary patterns, that is, they consumed vegetables, fruits, and dairy products more frequently(P < 0.0001) than non-consumers. Furthermore, chocolate consumers had a 30% lower risk of MetS (odds ratio, 0.70; 95% confidence interval, 0.58-0.86; P = 0.0005). However, dose-response effects between chocolate intake and MetS was not found by secondary analysis after excluding non-consumers. CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, chocolate consumers had healthier lifestyles and dietary patterns and a lower prevalence of MetS than non-consumers, as determined by our primary analysis. Although dose-response effects were not found to be significant among chocolate consumers during secondary analysis, the patterns were partially similar. This cross-sectional finding shows chocolate consumption does not increase the risk of MetS. The prospective studies and intervention trials in Korea are needed to confirm this cross-sectional finding.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of internet shopping motivations on information searching intention, customer satisfaction and purchase intention. To achieve this goal, literature review and empirical studies were conducted in parallel. The results of this study are as follows: First, the motives of internet shopping of Chinese consumers were found to be in four dimensions, "seeking convenience," "seeking low-cost," "seeking variety" and "seeking pleasures", in order of large proportions, respectively. Second, Among these four internet shopping motivations "seeking convenience,""seeking variety" and "seeking pleasures" were found to have direct, significant and positive effects on information searching intention. But "seeking low-cost" has no positive effects on information searching intention. Third, information searching intention was found to have direct impact on customer satisfaction and purchase intention. Fourth, Customer satisfaction has an direct and positive effects on purchase intention.
Objective: This study aimed to examine the effects of adult children's marriage-delay on their parents' mental health. Furthermore, this study investigated how the influence of adult children's marriage-delay on parents' mental health could vary depending on the coresidence and employment status of the marriage-delayed adult children. Method: Two waves of Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLoSA) were used for the analyses. Multiple regression models were conducted with 2,938 Korean parents who had at least one child, regardless of gender (aged 33~44). Results: First, adult children's marriage-delay was related to lower levels of parents' life satisfaction. Second, the levels of parents' life satisfaction were low regardless of residing with their marriage-delayed adult children, and the parents who were not living with their marriage-delayed adult children showed lower levels of life satisfaction than parents living with marriage-delayed adult children. Third, only the parents with unemployed marriage-delayed adult children showed significantly higher levels of depression. However, the levels of parents' life satisfaction were low regardless of the employment of marriage-delayed adult children, and the parents of unemployed marriage-delayed adult children showed lower levels of life satisfaction than the parents of employed marriage-delayed adult children. Conclusions: It is necessary to consider the effects of marriage, employment and coresidence of adult children on their parents in order to enhance the mental health of the parents. Also, the effects of marriage-delay on intimate relationships, such as family dynamics, need to be explored more in further research.
