Seasonal variation in species composition and abundance of pelagic fish in Chonsu Bay were determined by analyzing monthly samples collected using a set net from March, 1992 to January, 1993. The data in this study were compared with those of 1981$\~$82. Of 63 species identified, Engraulis japonicus, Ammodytes penonatus, Enedrias fangi and Sardinella zunasi predominated in abundance. Especially E.japonicus occupied $87\%$ of total number of individuals. In spling, fish abundance increased by recruitment of lariat E. fanti as well as adults of E. japonicus, A. personatus and S. zunasi. These adults moved towards the open sea after spawning in early summer. A large number of juveniles was then collected from August until December. The seasonal change in species composition from the present study showed a similar trend to that occurred in 1981$\~$82. However, larger number of pelagic fish was caught in 1992$\~$93 than in 1981$\~$82. This result seems to be related to the higher water temperature (>$2^{\circ}C$) than the average mean temperature in spring and autumn, implying that higher temperature provides favorable conditions for spawning and growth of the fish.
Seasonal variation in species composition and abundance of fishes was determined using monthly samples collected by a fyke net in coastal waters off Namhae Island in 2006. The sampling gear, both-side fyke net, is a widely used commercial fishing gear in shallow waters of the region. A total of 89 fish species was collected, the dominant species were Konosirus punctatus, Mugil cephalus, Lateolabrax japonicus, Acanthopagrus schlegeli, Sebastes inermis, Nibea mitsukurii, Clupeapallasii, Pampus echinogaster, Sebastes schlegeli and Limanda yokohamae. They accounted for 61.1% of the total number of individuals and 80.3% of the biomass. The dominant species were primarily composed of small individuals or juveniles of large-sized fishes. Abundance in the number of individuals and biomass showed peaks in April, May and September, and was lowest in January. Temporal change in fish abundance was related to the temperature and related factors.

Seasonal variation of species composition in marine organisms around Oryukdo of Busan was investigated using a gill net between 2009 and 2011. A total of 82 species, 52 families, and 6 taxa were collected during the sampling periods. Species were included two species in Cnidaria, one in Urochordata, 12 in Mollusca, 12 in Crustacea, seven in Echinodermata, and 48 in Pisces. The dominant species were Crepidula onyx, Asterina pectinifera, Ceratostoma burnetti, Asterias amurensis, Anthocidaris crassispina, and Trachurus japonicus. These six species accounted for 48.4% in the total number. Diversity indices were highest in spring 2009 (2.77) and lowest in spring 2011 (1.66). Seasonal variation of species composition and abundance in marine organisms corresponded with the water temperature.
To document the basic ecological aspects of Chaoborus species, which has never been reported in Korea, we attempted to identify the species, to monitor seasonal and vertical dynamics, and to elucidate trophic relations of the species in Sang-Chun reservoir. Using morphological characteristics, we identified the collected samples as C. flavicans. Also, we compared the distribution of C. flavicans, Daphnia rosea and chlorophyll a to observed seasonal dynamics. The increase of C. flavicans was observed 1-2 weeks after the increase of D. rosea. Survey of diel vertica migration patterns in the summer season showed that C. flavicans were in hypolimnion at daytime, but moved to the epilimnion at night. Finally, to determine trophic relationships in Sang-Chun reservoir, additional studies on the food web were undertaken by stable isotope analysis. Chaoborus flavicans I-II instars appear to be filter feeders based on carbon isotope values. Trophic levels of C. flavicans III-IV instars were shown to be higher than other zooplankto based on nitrogen isotope values.

Species composition and abundance of larval fishes in the coastal waters off Gori in the southeastern Korea were investigated from January to December in 2006. During the study period, 32 larvae species belonging to 20 families were collected. The dominant species were Engraulis japonicius, Hexagrammos agrammus, Sillago japonicus, Acropoma japonicum, Apogon lineatus, and Konosirus punctatus. These six species accounted for 87.0% of the total number of individuals collected. The number of species, number of individuals, and species diversity indices fluctuated by season. The peak numbers of species and individuals occurred in July and May, respectively. Correlation analysis showed that monthly variations in water temperature and salinity could act as an indicators of seasonal variations in the larval fish community structure and abundance of the dominant species; in particular, the abundance of S. japonicus, A. japonicum, and A. lineatus were significantly corrected with the water temperature.

As part of study on the microbial food web in the southern Jeju Island of Korea, Planktonic tintinnids and aloricate oligotrichs were investigated from July 1998 to June 2000 to understand seasonal variation and water mass indication with environmental factors. 39 species of tintinnids were identified representing 1 order, 11 families, 20 genera. Tintinnid abundance ranged from 100 to 5,400 cells.1$^{-1}$ (mean 314 cells.1$^{-1}$ ), and oceanic species were mainly dominant in fall and winter season, while neritic species were a little pre- dominant in spring and summer season. 15 species of aloricate oligotrichs were identified representing 1 order, 5 families, 7 genera, and many belonged to genus Strombidium which was most abundant and most frequently occurred in many months. Abundance of aloricate oligotrichs ranged from 140 to 21,000 cells.1$^{-1}$ (mean 2,356 cells.1$^{-1}$ ). Species diversity and standing crops of tintinnids were quite different according to seasons, but few seasonal variations were detected in aloricate oligotrichs. In terms of water mass indication tintinnids represented obvious characteristics which were affected by marine environmental factors, but alor- icate oligotrichs had no such apparent indication as tintinnids. Ciliates were more abundant and more diverse in inshore than in offshore station. Total carbon biomass of ciliates ranged from 0.01 to 136.06 $\mu\textrm{g}$C.1$^{-1}$ (mean 5.01 $\mu\textrm{g}$C.1$^{-1}$ ). The carbon biomass, however, did not coincided with seasonal variations of abun- dance Vertical profiles of mean abundance of both tintinnids and aloricate oligotrichs were similar, and had same trend as those of mean chlorophyll o concentration. It suggests that phytoplankton and ciliates reflected the prey-predator relationship in the study area.
Seasonal variation in species composition of fish in the estuary of Saemangeum water in the western coast of Korea was determined using seasonal samples collected by an otter trawl from April 2001 to February 2002. Species compositions did not differ significantly among the 4 stations (p>0.05, Wilcoxon signed-rank test). The cumulative number of species and species diversity (H') approached asymptote after four 30-min trawl hauls. Therefore 30-min trawl samples from each of the four stations were pooled to represent each season. A total of 45 species 2758 individuals and 30,346.8 g of fish were collected during the study period. Of the fish collected Leiognathus nuchalis, Synechogobius hasta, Neosalanx jordani, Konosirus punctatus and Chaeturichthys stigmatias predominated in abundance accounting for $68\%$ of the total number of individuals. Seasonal variation of fish abundance showed a similar trend to those of the other western coastal waters of Korea. The resident species were collected only in spring and autumn. Number of species and biomass were highest in summer due to the catch of many migrating species. In winter catch amount was low, and only 7 species were collected.. Brackish water fishes were more abundant in the study area, and Johnius grypotus and Cynoglossus joyneri were not premominated compared to the other coastal waters. This difference in species compositions may be related to the lower salinity in this estuarine habitat than in the other western coastal waters of Korea.

The species composition and seasonal variation in abundance of fishes in the Nakdong River estuary were investigated monthly from February 1987 to January 1988. During the study period, 23,008 specimens belonging to 100 species were collected. The most abundant fish species were Repomucenus valenciennei, Pholis fangi, Leiognathus nuchalis, Trachurus japonicus, and Sardinella zunasi. These five species comprised 63.0% of total fishes and 47.8% of total biomass collected. The seasonal dominant fish species were P. fangi and R. valenciennei in spring, R. valenciennei and Cynoglossus joyneri in summer, Thryssa kammalensis and Apogon lineatus in fall, and R. valenciennei, L. nuchalis and S. zunasi in winter. The number of fish species, number of individuals collected, and species diversity indices fluctuated with the seasons. The number of species and number of individuals decreased significantly in the upper estuary. While temperature was an important factor which influenced on seasonal fluctuation of the fish community, salinity determined the spatial distribution of fishes.
The seasonal and interannual variation in the species composition and abundance of the fish assemblage were studied. Fish samples were collected seasonally over 4 year (2005 to 2008) using pots in the southern coast of East Sea. During the study period, a total of 32 fish species belonging to 24 families were collected. The dominant species were Conger myriaster, Paracentropogon rubripinnis, Liparis tanakae, Parapercis sexfasciata, Eptatretus burgeri and Clupea pallasii pallasii, which accounted for 91.9% of the total number of individuals collected. The number of species, number of individuals, biomass, and diversity fluctuated with season. The peak number of species and number of individuals occurred were in August 2008, whereas the biomass was the highest in August 2005 and diversity was in May 2008. The abundance of dominant species also showed some seasonal and interannual changes. A one-way analysis of similarity (ANOSIM) showed that the fish assemblage in 2008 was significantly different from those of 2005, 2006 and 2007, whereas there was no significant difference among seasons over 4 years.

The temporal dynamics of the meiofauna community in Marian Cove, King George Island were observed from January 22 to October 29 1996. Generally, 14 taxa of metazoan meiofauna were found. Nematodes were dominant comprising 90.12% of the community, harpacticoid 6.55%, and Kinorhynchs 1.54%. Meiofauna abundance increased monthly from January to May 1996, while varying in abundance after August 1996. Overall mean abundance of metazoan meiofauna was $2634ind./10cm^2$ during the study periods, which is about as high as that found in temperate regions. Nematodes were most abundant representing $2399ind./10cm^2$. Mean abundance of harpacticoids, including copepodite and nauplius was $131ind./10cm^2$ by kinorhynchs $(26ind./10cm^2)$. The overall abundance of other identified organisms was $31ind./10cm^2$ Other organisms consisted of a total of 11 taxa including Ostracoda $(6ind./10cm^2)$, Polycheata $(7ind./10cm^2)$, Oligochaeta $(8ind./10cm^2)$, and Bivalvia $(6ind./10cm^2)$. Additionally, protozoan Foraminifera occurred at the study area with a mean abundance of $263ind./10cm^2$. Foraminiferans were second in dominance to nematodes. The dominant taxa such as nematodes, harpacticoids, kinorhynchs and the other tua were trained and extensively scattered in the map through the Kohonen network. The temporal pattern of the community composition was most affected by the abundance dynamics of kinorhynchs and harpacticoids. The neural network model also allowed for simulation of data that was missing during two months of inclement weather. The lowest meiofauna abundance was found in August 1996 during winter. The seasonal changes were likely caused by temperature and salinity changes as a result of meltwater runoff, and the physical impact by passing icebergs.
