A Study on the Contact Seam Tracking Sensor by Using Strain Gauges (스트레인 게이지를 이용한 접촉식 용접선 추적 센서에 관한 연구)

  • There are many kinds of seam trackers in the industrial welding field. We are proposed the contact seam tracking sensor applying strain gauges kind of contact sensor that mostly used in welding part now. For this seam tracking experiment, we made the strain gauges sensor by ourselves and tested how well the sensor tracks the seam. The experiment device consist of strain gauges sensor, amplifier circuit of strain gauges signal, saw wave generator, MOSFET power diving circuit and X-Y slide by moved DC motor. The tracking areas are X-Y planes(left, right, up and down) and the change of strain gauge resistance causes to move DC motor that connected to X-Y slide. As a result of experiment, we confirmed that the strain gauges sensor tracks a seam well, and X-Y slide DC motor was controlled by PWM control.

  • In order to ensure the signal could be transported cocrrectly, the microwave devices made of Aluminmn alloys must be assembled and brazed flaw-freely. In this paper, a new approach of using contact reactive brazing (CRB) process to realize the compact brazing of Aluminum alloys was put forward. The reason for this is that CRB, which realizes bonding depending on the liquid alloy produced by metallurgy reaction between the materials to be joined, overcomes the limitation of traditional brazing that the macroscopically disorganized filling flow of liquid filler metal would result in defects in brazed seam. Joint ofLF21 (AA3003) with the compactness of over 95% was brazed by the method of CRB using Si powder as an interlayer. At last, the influence of the physical parameter related to the Si powder interlayer on the compactness of the joints was investigated in detail.

  • Optimal processing and system to produce the laser welded tube for one body formed bumper beam are studied. The calculated size of tube is a thickness of 1.4mm, diameter of 105.4mm and length of 2000mm. The tube is shaped from cool rolled high strength steel sheet(tensile strength: 60kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$ grade). Two roll bending method is the optimal tube shaping process compared to UO-bending, bending on press brake, multi-step continuous roll forming and 3 roll bending methods. Weld quality monitoring and seam tracking along the butt-joint lengthwise to the tube axis are also studied. The longitudinal butt-joint is welded by the $CO_2$ laser welding system equipped with a seam tracker and plasma sensor. The constructed $CO_2$ laser tube welding system can be used for the precision seam tracking and the real-time monitoring of weld quality. Finally, the obtained laser welded tube can be used for one-body formed automobile bumper beam.

  • Recent developments in sensor hardware and in advanced software have made it feasible to consider automating some of the most difficult welding operations. This paper describes some techniques used to automate successfully multipass submerged arc welding operations typically used in pressure vessel manufacture, shipbuilding, production of offshore structures and in pipe mills.
