A Study on the Alkali Hydrolysis of Sea-island PET Ultra-microfiber (해도형(海島型) PET 초극세섬유의 알칼리 가수분해에 관한 연구)

  • Alkali hydrolysis of sea-island PET 0.02denier microfiber were compared to those on the fabrics of the 0.06denier microfiber. In the dissolution of the sea component out of sea island type ultra-microfiber, it is important to determine the optimum division and divided material. Weight reduction of sea island ultra-micro sea island fiber was faster than regular PET about 10 times. Also 0.2denier sea-island ultra-micro sea island fiber has better color fastness (washing, friction, and daylight) than 0.06denier level sea-island ultra-microfiber. In this study, 0.2denier ultra-micro sea island fiber shows the possibility of high value product.

  • In order to make a supermicrofiber fabric with PET/co-PET sea-island type filament fiber, the optimum conditions of dissolution of co-PET composite filament fiber was examined. The data set was made at various organic acid concentration and steam temperature with treated time as a main variable. At the same time, the microstructure changes by organic acid treatment of sea-island type PET supermicrofibers were monitored by thermal analysis morphology, DSC thermgrams and SEM images. Weight reduction behavior of supermicrofibers by caustic treatment was investigated in a comparative method. The termination of dissolution was also confirmed using DSC thermgrams and SEM images.

A Study on Extraction Condition of Co-PET from PET/Co-PET Sea-Island Type Microfiber Fabric (PET/Co-PET 해도사 직물의 Co-PET 추출 조건에 관한 연구)

  • In order to make a microfiber fabric with PET/Co-PET Sea-Island Type microfiber, the optimum condition of extraction and elimination of Co-PET from the microfiber was examined. At the same time, the physical property change of the fabric with respect to the change of the relative amount of the Co-PET in the microfiber was also examined to provide a directly applicable data set to the industry. The sample fabric used was warp 75/36(DTY) and weft 0.05d(PET/Co-PET, Sea Island Type Microfiber) twill fabric of 36 separated yarns+40/24(high shrinking yarn) with 130/48 ITY. The data set was made at various NaOH concentrations and steam temperatures with time as a main variable. The physical properties examined were the tensile properties. The results obtained were the tensile properties. The results obtained were 1. For a proper extraction of Co-PET (13.5%)from the microfiber with wet curing, it takes more than 5 min. in 8 and 12% of NaOH solutions but it takes only 3 min. in 18% of NaOH solution at 120℃. 2. For a proper extraction of Co-PET (13.5%) from the microfiber with wet curing, it takes 3∼5 min. in 12 and 14% of NaOH solution and it takes less than 3 min. in 18% of NaOH solution at 130℃. 3. The increasing ratio of WT increased with increasing NaOH concentrations and the equilibrium point reached was 3 min. at 120℃. 4. The WT increasing ratio was greater in 14 and 18% NaOH solutions than in 8 and 12% of NaOH solutions at 130℃. 5. The RT ratio changes at 120℃ in 8 and 12% of NaOH solutions were indifferent from that at 130℃ in 12% of NaOH solution. However, the RT was apparently decreased with increasing NaOH concentration.

A Study on the Weight Loss of Island-in-a Sea Fabrics by Ultrasonic (초음파를 이용한 해도직물의 감량 가공에 관한 연구)

  • Alkaline treatment gives Sea-Island type yam to produce microfiber and silk-like touch. But this treatment have some problems in dyeing and finishing process. To solve some problem occurred in dyeing and finishing of polyester fabric, the ultrasonic treatment technique was used recently. This study was carried out to confirm the effect of the ultrasonic treatment on alkaline weight loss finishing of polyester fiber under general alkaline treatment conditions; NaOH concentration 2, 3, 4, and 5%, treatment time 5, 10, 15, and 20 minutes, treatment temperature 70, 80, 90, and 99'E, respectively. On the other hand, the three way lay out method was used to test of significant obtained data from alkaline treatment. It was found that weight loss increased with increasing the NaOH concentration, temperature, and time. Also, in case of PET/Co-PET fabrics by ultrasonic, weight loss and dissolution of microfiber were superior to PET/Co-PET fabrics without ultrasonic. Tensile strength and modulus decreased with increasing NaOH concentrations and hydrolysis time. Therefore, the effect of alkali hydrolysis by ultrasonic application was better than that of the conventional method.

  • In this study, conjugate fibers were prepared from 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol-modified polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin using side by side conjugate spinning, sea-island type conjugate spinning, and split type conjugate spinning methods, and the properties of the conjugate fibers were investigated via several techniques. When viscosity increased, the tenacity of side by side conjugate fibers was increased, whereas elongation decreased. The sea-island conjugate fibers showed lower weight loss and surface color difference (K/S) values relative to that of regular PET fibers at the same conditions. The SEM results indicate that orange type spilt readily produced at a temperature range of 120 - 140$^{\circ}C$.

The Extraction of Co-PET from Non-Woven Fabrics of Nylon/Co-PET Sea-island Type Composite Microfiber

  • To find a suitable condition in this process examined, we investigated the main control factors, such as, the NaOH concentrations, such as, the NaOH concentrations, the heat treating times, and the heating temperatures. The resulting mechanical properties of the fabrics also studied. The samples used were Nylon/Co-PET sea-island type composite microfiber (Co-PET content: 35%) non-woven fabric. The conclusions obtained were as follows. 1. For the complete extraction of Co-PET from the sample non-woven fabric in the dry hot air process, $160^{\circ}C$ of air temperature, 15 min. of treatment time, and around 30% of NaOH concentration were required. On the other hand, in the wet hot air process, $140^{\circ}C$ of air temperature, 3.5 min. of treatment time, and around 30% of NaOH concentration were required. 2. The mechanical properties of the continuous processed samples showed that the WT, B, and WC increased with increasing the weight reduction ratio. However, the G, decreased with increasing the weight loss ratio. Note that, particularly in B, it increased drastically when the weight deduction ratios exceeded 30%. 3. As increasing the wet hot air temperature from 130 to $140^{\circ}C$, B appeared to increase, however, WT, G, and WC appeared to decrease. 4. The best condition found in this continuous process to extract Co-PET is the wet hot air temperature of 140, NaOH concentration of 28% or above, and the treatment time 2-4 min.

  • Dyeing and fastness properties of 800nm sea-Island type PET nanofilament fabrics have been investigated. The dye uptake of nanofilament commended at lower temperatures and showed faster rate of dye uptake. The build up and wet fastness propertied of disperse dye on nanofilament were relatively poor since the more dye was needed to achieve a given depth of shade due to the large surface area.

  • In this study, we conducted alkali hydrolysis on sea-island type PET ultramicrofiber tricot fabric and dyeing according to the various conditions with black disperse dye. Herein, we evaluated the weight loss rate and tensile strength according to the NaOH contents. The optimal alkali hydrolysis treatment conditions were set to 25 %omf NaOH with a treatment time of 60 min at 110 ℃, and average weight loss rate of the PET ultramicrofiber tricot fabric is about 23 %. The dyeing conditions were investigated with different dyeing temperatures(95-135 ℃), dyeing time(20-60 min), dye contents(2-10 %omf), dispersant contents(1-9 g/ℓ), pH buffer solution contents(1-9 g/ℓ), UV-absorbent contents(5-25 %omf) and reduction cleaning process conditions for black color. We obtained the optimum conditions of the dyeing with the dye contents of 8 %omf, the dispersant contents of 1 g/ℓ, the pH buffer solution contents of 1 g/ℓ, the UV-absorbent contents of 10 %omf, the dyeing temperature of 135 ℃ and the dyeing time of 40 min. The light colorfastness of dyed ultramicrofiber PET tricot fabric was good to excellent in the range of 4 to 5.

  • Composite membranes having different mixing ratio of Wool(SCMK) and poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) were prepared by dissolving wool/PET in hexafluoro-2-propanol(HFIP), casting the obtained solution on a glass plate and evaporation the solvent in the presence and absence of an electric field. The internal structure of the prepared membrane was investigated using polarise microscope dyeing and dye permeation method. In the composite membrane prepared under electric field, both components were micro mixing, while in the membranes prepared under nonelectric field, the two components formed a random sea/island structure according to different mixing ratio. Such characteristic membrane structure was influenced the permeation behavior of C.I. Acid Red 118 through the membranes from an aqueous solution.
