히트 펌프용 비대칭 스크롤 압축기의 가스 인젝션 포트 설계 (Design of Gas-Injection Port of an Asymmetric Scroll Compressor for Heat Pump Systems)

  • For an asymmetric scroll compressor for heat pump application, a numerical simulation was carried out to investigate the effects of injection port design on the compressor's performance under gas injection. To validate the simulation, the numerical results were compared with experimental results obtained from a scroll compressor with a base injection port design. There was good agreement between simulation and experimental results, with around a 1% difference in the injection mass flow rate when the injection pressure was below $12kgf/cm^2A$ for the heating mode. Various injection port angular positions were numerically tested to yield better injection performance. The largest improvement in heating capacity was obtained at angles of $240^{\circ}$ and $200^{\circ}$ inward from the scroll wrap end angle for low-temperature and standard heating conditions, respectively, while the maximum COP improvement was at $365^{\circ}$ and $280^{\circ}$, respectively. A considerable improvement in cooling capacity was also found at the injection port angle of $240^{\circ}$.

  • The flow analysis was made by applying the turbulent models in the scroll volume of centrifugal compressor. The $k-{\varepsilon}.\;k-{\omega}$, Spalart-Allmaras and reynolds stress models are used in which the hybrid grid is applied for the simulation. The velocity vector the Pressure contour. the change of residual along the iteration number. and the dynamic head are simulated by solving the Navier-Stokes equations for the comparison of four example cases.

고압식 스크롤 압축기 스러스트 오일 그루브 최적 설계 (Optimal Design of Thrust Surface Oil Groove of a High Side Scroll Compressor)

  • Performance analysis has been carried out on a high side scroll compressor that had a fixed scroll equipped with a circular oil groove on its thrust surface. Oil was supplied to the oil groove through an intermittent opening from a high pressure oil reservoir formed inside the orbiting scroll hub. Oil in the groove was then delivered to both suction and back pressure chambers by pressure differentials and viscous pumping action of the orbiting scroll base plate. Mathematical modeling of this oil groove system was incorporated into a main compressor performance simulation program for an optimum oil groove design. The study findings were as follows. Pressure in the oil groove can be controlled by changing its configuration and the oil passage area. With an enlarged oil passage, the pressure in the oil groove heightens due to an increased flow rate, but the pressure elevation in the back pressure chamber is small, resulting in reduced friction loss at the thrust surface between the two scrolls. On the other hand, by increasing the oil passage area, the oil content in the refrigerant flow increases. Considering all these factors, the energy efficiency ratio could be improved by about 3.6% under the ARI condition by an optimal oil groove design.

  • This paper presents the measurement process of the rotational accuracy and the comparison with the theoretical results in the main bearing of scroll compressor. The main bearing is cylindrical oil proceeding bearing, but there are straightly cut used for oil supply. Therefore the roundness error is not a negligible quantity compared with the rotational accuracy. For this reason, three-point method is used in the experiment. The result of three-point method coincides with the theoretical value. So if the theory in this paper is used to the bearing design of scroll compressor, the efforts for testing and designing can be reduced.

  • In order to investigate the cooling and heating characteristics of a variable-capacity system A/C using a digital scroll compressor, the cooling and heating capacities and EER are measured by the psychrometric calorimeter. The capacity of the system is controlled by the digital scroll compressor, which is operated by controling PWM valve and the loading vs. unloading time. When the system A/C is operated under the cooling and heating standard conditions, EER is nearly uniform but cooling capacity and heating capacity increase at minimum, rated and maximum modes. When the auxiliary heater is on, at the cold region, the system A/C produces the excellent heating capacity.

  • The life of oilless bearing affects the durability of scroll compressor. The main shaft of the scroll compressor is supported by oiiless bearing. Some of the major parameters which influence the life of oilless bearing are rotational speed, normal load, environment of refrigerant and oil film thickness. The reliability evaluation of oiiless bearing is performed through the acceleration life test for reduction of experimental time and costs. In this study, the experimental and computational investigations were performed to verify the effects of various parameters on the life of oilless bearing. The acceleration factor was achieved with the lubrication analysis between the scroll compressor and the developed reliability tester. the expected life of oilless bearing was guaranteed by reliability evaluation accompanied with the acceleration life test.

  • The present study investigated the effects of geometric parameters considered on the performance of an automotive scroll compressor by assuming ideal, semi-real and real gases for R-134a. The geometric parameters were center thickness of scroll, height of scroll and the size of discharge port. Fourth-order Runge-Kutta method was applied to solve the thermodynamic equations, leaking rate equation and the equation of motion of discharge valve for ideal, semi-real, and real gases. The volumetric and adiabatic efficiencies for semi-real and real gases differed little, but those for ideal gas differed by 18% and 25% compared with those for real gas at 2,000rpm. The volumetric efficiency changed little as the design angle of scroll (${\gamma}$) changed, but the adiabatic efficiency at ${\gamma}$ of $34^{\circ}$ was higher by 2.4% than that of $147^{\circ}$ for 2,000rpm. The volumetric and adiabatic efficiencies at scroll height of 29.8mm were higher by 1.7% and 2.8% than those of 65.8mm. The volumetric efficiency changed little as the size of discharge port changed, but the adiabatic efficiency increased a little as the size of discharge port decreased.

  • Analytical and experimental investigations have been carried out on the gas pulsations in the discharge paths of a high-side horizontal scroll compressor, where the gas discharged from compression chamber is made to pass through several chambers inside the compressor shell. Model of Helmholtz resonators in series has been applied to this configuration to predict gas pulsation phenomena along the passages, and the calculation results have been compared with measured pressure time traces. Good agreements between the analytical and experimental results have been obtained. It has also been found that the compressor performance is somewhat affected by the size of individual chambers inside the compressor shell.

  • The natural refrigerant $CO_2$has attracted as an alternative refrigerant currently used in air conditioning system, which has high global warming potential. In this study, the tribological characteristics of the sliding surfaces between a fixed scroll and an orbiting scroll of the scroll compressor were investigated in $CO_2$/ POE mixed environment. The pin-on-disk type sliding tests were carried out under the various sliding speeds, normal loads. surface roughness, and pressures. During the test, friction forces, wear amount and surface temperature were monitored.
