  • This paper presents a method and implementation of the parallel distributed sample scrambler(DSS) in the cell-based ATM transmission environment. In the serial processing, it requires very high speed clock because the processing clock of the serial DSS is equal with the data transmission speed. In this paper, we develop a conversion method of the serial SRG(shift register generator) to 8bit parallel realization. In this case, it has a sample data processing problem which is a character of DSS. So, a theory of correction time movement is presented to solve this problem. We has developed a ASIC using this algorithm and verified the recommendation of ITU-T, I.432.

  • In this paper, the concept of sampling vectors is introduced, and used for a simple realization of DSSs(distributed sample scramblers). In DSSs, if the sampling times of the scrambler state samples are not identical to their transmission times, samples are delayedtransmitted to the descrambler. and in this case the DSSs need additional memory elements storing the samples and additional clocks for informing their transmission times. The concept of sampling vectors helps move the sampling times of delayed samples to their transmission times, thus eliminating the additional memory elements and clocks in the DSSs. In the paper, the conditions on the synchronization of the scrambler and descrambler are derived for the DSS employing sampling vectors, and demonstrations are given on their applicaitons to cell-based ATM DSSs.

  • A WAVE(Wireless Access for Vehicular Environment) system is a vehicle communication technology. The system provides the services to prevent vehicle accidents that might occur during driving. Also, it is used to provide various services such as monitoring vehicle management and system failure. However, the scrambler bit operation of WAVE system becomes less efficient in the organizations of software and hardware design because the parallel processing is impossible. Although scrambler algorithm proposed in this paper has different processing speed depending on input data 8 bit, 16 bit, 32 bit, and 64 bit. it improves the processing speed of the operation because it can make parallel processing possible depending on the input unit.

  • WAVE(Wireless Access for Vehicular Environment) is new concepts and Vehicles communications technology using for ITS(Intelligent Transportation Systems) service by IEEE standard 802.11p. Also it increases the efficiency and safety of the traffic on the road. However, the efficiency of Scrambler bit computational algorithms of OFDM modulation in WAVE systems will fall as it is not able to process in parallel in terms of hardware and software. This paper proposes an algorithm to configure 64-bits matrix table in scambler bit computation as well as an algorithm to compute 64-bits matrix table and input data in parallel. The proposed algorithm on this thesis is executed using 64-bits matrix table. In the result, the processing speed for 1 and 1000 times is improved about 40.08% ~ 40.27% and processing rate per sec is performed more than 468.35 compared to bit operation scramble. And processing speed for 1 and 1000 times is improved about 7.53% ~ 7.84% and processing rate per sec is performed more than 91.44 compared to 32-bits operation scramble. Therefore, if the 64 bit-CPU is used for 64-bits executable scramble algorithm, it is improved more than 40% compare to 32-bits scrambler.

  • A multi-bit sigma-delta modulator architecture is described for low-distortion performance and a high-speed operation. The proposed architecture uses both a delayed code and a delayed differential code of analog-to-digital converter in the feedback path, thereby suppressing signal components in the integrators and relaxing the timing requirement of the analog-to-digital converter and the scrambler logic. Implemented by a 0.13 ${\mu}m$ CMOS process, the sigma-delta modulator achieves high linearity. The measured spurious-free dynamic range is 89.1 dB for -6 dBFS input signal.

  • With increasing the volume of digital multimedia market, the security and multimedia content protection issues are arising. Interest in H.264/AVC is emerging and special features in H.264/AVC element stream must be considered. We developed a new algorithm which scrambles and descrambles H.264/AVC element stream in compressed domain using manipulating CABAC initialization table and DCT coefficients. Extensive experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm is effective and promising.

  • Multi-mode coding method is a reliable DC-suppression method. There are two ways to improve the DC-suppression performance. One is improving scrambler's performance, and the other is improving selection criteria. The latter uses the MRDS(minimum running digital sum) criterion. It is easy to calculate, but its performance goes down when the length of codeword is getting longer. The MSW(mean squared weight) criterion that is known as the best so far regardless of the length of codeword has the high complexity. In this paper, we present the new selection criteria, MPRDS(minimum peak RDS) and A BSRDS(absolute RDS). Their performance are close to the MSW, implementation is simple. And also we present the SC(sign change) that has a subsidiary role with the original selection criteria and improve the capacity.

  • In a broadband erbium-doped fiber source for fiber optic gyroscope, a pump-polarization scrambling scheme is used to suppress the polarization dependence of the source mean wavelength. The degree of polarization of the pump is reduced to 1.4% by applying proper modulation depth to the polarization modulator where 10 m-long single-mode fiber is wound on a cylindrical PZT. In the case of using the pump-polarization scrambler as well as the output depolarizer, the mean-wavelength variations due to the random change of polarization are measured to be less than our measurement limit of 5 ppm.

  • This paper presents a scheme which scrambles and descrambles images from multiple video channels. A combined image frame is formed by concatenating the incoming frames from channels in a two dimensional array. This algorithm employs an encryption scheme on row and column numbers of the combined image frame and thereby yields an encrypted combined image. The proposed algorithm is to encrypt multiple images at a time since it recomposes images from multiple video channels yielding one by composite image, and encrypts the composite image resulting In higher security.
