  • Background: Workplace violence was recognized to be social problems that might impact the health status and the job satisfaction of employee in hospitals. This study investigated the current status of violence and job stress among hospital employees working at administration and discharging department. Methods: The study subjects were 213 administrative employees working at 20 general hospitals. Data were collected by self-administered questionnaire that included information such as demographics, job-related characteristics, experience of violence, and job stress. The violence was classified as verbal violence, physical threat, and physical violence occurred by patients and caregivers. Analysis of variance, t-tests, correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis were performed to examine the associated factors with job stress. Results: The levels of verbal violence, physical threat, and physical violence were $1.64{\pm}1.08$, $0.54{\pm}0.67$, and $0.04{\pm}0.17$, respectively. The score of job stress was $2.74{\pm}0.50$ and it was associated with age, existence of spouse, drinking frequency, subjective health status, disease history, night-time treatment, and public health administration career in simple analysis. In multiple linear regression analysis, the level of verbal violence experience was significantly associated with job stress (B=0.09, p=0.001). Also physical threats (B=0.18, p<0.001) and physical violence (B=0.48, p=0.008) showed positive association with job stress. Conclusion: This study attempted to examine the association between experience of violence and job stress in administrative employees at medical institutions. Levels of violence showed positive correlation with the job stress. Environment improvement to protect employee from violence and management of employees who experienced workplace violence are needed to reduce the job stress.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine knowledge, attitude, and altruism on blood donation and influential factors in regard to its experience. Data were collected through questionnaires with a convenience sample of 311 healthcare providers. Subjects with blood donation experience accounted for 63.3%. In both nurses and laboratory technologist, the rate of blood donation in male group has higher than that of female group. There were differences in the knowledge of blood donation dependent upon the type of occupation of healthcare providers and the higher age and the longer period of career experience proved to be the significant factor for the level of altruism. The study suggests that more practical, concrete strategies should be identified to participate in blood donation. The further relevant variables need to be investigated since the most determinant motivator for blood donation among healthcare providers was the responsibility to help others.

The level of morale according to the general variables were significantly different in such variables ; home care nursing antecedent(p = .000), motivation for job selection(p= .030), intention to quit the job(P= .000). Variables of intention to quit the job(15.7%) and home care nursing antecedent; 6.7%(p=.001) showed 22.4% of explanatory persuasion effect on level of morale. Conclusion : To improve a morale of home care nurses, the arrangement of nursing department should be consider nurse's aptitude and interest and allow them to have longer period of work in that part. Also wages, promotion system and welfare should be reformed as relevant as their career.

  • The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is now placing emphasis on the importance of a new and renewable energy resource map service as an essential means of promoting the dissemination and adoption of renewable energy and other related industrial activities. To raise satisfaction with the new and renewable energy resource map service and promote its utilization, a survey was conducted on a sample group with an academic research background, i.e. employees of the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) who have a thorough understanding of the technological concepts behind the new and renewable energy resource map. Statistical analysis of the survey results showed a high level of overall satisfaction with the web service for the new and renewable energy resource map. Therefore, it was concluded that the development of practical contents rather than the enhancement of web service convenience is required. A statistically significant trend was also observed whereby, the longer the professional career of the survey respondents, the greater their perception and utilization of, and satisfaction with, the enhanced service, which indicates that their level of understanding and utilization of technological concepts corresponds to their research experience record. In addition, the results obtained from the questionnaires regarding the evaluation of the utilization value of the resource map service indicated that use of the service was equally high in terms of political, business and academic applications. The results confirmed the need to develop multidimensional resource map contents that can be applied to as many fields as possible, rather than focusing on a specific terrain.

  • This study was conducted to provide basic data on the dental hygienists Happiness Index and identify factors influencing dental hygienists A self-administered questionnaire survey was conducted dental hygienists in Jeollabuk-do(Jeonju, Iksan, Gunsan) from October to November 2017. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression. As the result of study, Happiness Index of socioeconomic level has increased when the more work career, and more monthly wage, and better interpersonal relationship. Happiness Index of psychological well-being has increased when younger group and more monthly wage, and better interpersonal relationship. Therefore, in order to increase the happiness index of dental hygienists, economic compensation such as incentives and if the education of the communication method of the cases where the most difficulty case of the communication situation in the human relationship is confirmed is preceded, the quality of the medical service provided to the patient due to the happy working life will be improved.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to establish age- and sex-specific reference standards for pterygoid hamulus(PH) dimensions using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: CBCT scans of 1,000 patients(493 males and 507 females) were retrospectively assessed in coronal sections for length and width measurements of the PH by 3 investigators. The study data were divided into 3 age groups(group 1: <20 years, group 2: 20-50 years, group 3: >50 years). Length and width were compared using one-way analysis of variance and the t-test for age and sex, respectively. Results: The length of the PH on the right side significantly increased from group 1 (6.11±1.47mm), through group 2 (6.65±1.67 mm) to group 3 (6.99±1.79 mm) and on the left side from group 2 (6.58±1.63) to group 3 (6.98±1.70). The width of the PH significantly decreased from group 1 (1.81±0.39 mm) to group 2 (1.61±0.39 mm) on the right side, and similarly from 1.87±0.36mm to 1.67±0.37mm on the left side. PH length (7.18±1.81mm on the right side and 7.10±1.72 mm on the left side) and width (1.68±0.38 mm on the right side and 1.74±0.36 mm on the left side) were significantly greater in males than in females. Conclusion: The length of the PH increased with age, whereas width first decreased and then increased. Length and width measurements were significantly higher in males than in females. These findings will aid in the diagnosis of untraceable pain in the oropharyngeal region related to altered PH morphology.

  • Learning at the elbow of scientist is a well-known educational approach to improve students' understanding of science and scientific practice. This study, in the perspective of legitimate peripheral participation in a community of practice, explores how students' scientific practice and perception could be shifted through R&E program with the development of participation. Data from participant observation for 18 months and in-depth interviews were analyzed based on constant comparative method to extract common characteristics of students' participation and major shifts in their scientific practices and perceptions. Students' development of participation was categorized into three stages: legitimate, peripheral, and full participation. In the stage of peripheral participation, students perceived themselves as mere students and showed passive engagement. They just followed the directions of researchers and didn't know what they should be doing. But through continuous participation, students showed enhanced engagement like voluntary article reading, role assignments, and establishing norms in a community of practice with the reference of scientists'. In this stage of transitional participation, students also showed a deepened perception on everyday life of scientist and the community of scientist. And finally in the stage of full participation, students showed responsibility and ownership on research and continuous efforts to refine their research. They recognized themselves as beginning scientists. With these findings, this paper highlighted the dynamic processes of students' development of scientific practices and identity through R&E participation. It also suggests implications for research programs for education, especially for students who have already articulated a science-related career but still have only foggy notions about science.
