물관리를 위한 자연기반해법과 유사개념들의 유형분류 및 체계 (Typological System of Nature-based Solutions and Its Similar Concepts on Water Management)

  • 본 연구는 사회환경적 문제의 해결방안으로서 새롭게 등장한 자연기반해법 (NbS) 개념을 물관리에 초점을 맞추어 생태계에 기반을 둔 기존 유사개념들과 비교, 평가한 것이다. NbS는 (자연)생태계 기능이 사회환경문제 해결에 활용하기 위한 기존의 다양한 접근방법들을 포괄적으로 대표할 수 있다는 점에서 그 의미가 있으며, 특히 교육적, 설득적인 면에서 유익한 개념이다. 그러나 물관리 측면에서 접근방법론은 특히 Eco-DRR을 포함하는 광의의 그린인프라와 실제 크게 다르지 않다. 다만 협의의 그린인프라는 현재 우수관리에 초점을 맞추고 있기 때문에 NbS 개념은 여전히 유용하다. 물관련 제 방법론은 개념적, 공간적 포괄성 관점에서 NbS-(EE)-BGI-(CRT)-GI-LID 순으로 표시할 수 있다. 마지막으로, LID 용어는 토지개발사업과 같이 특정한 경우를 제외하고 혼돈스럽지 않도록 그린인프라 용어로 대체할 수 있을 것이다.

Lessons from Developing an Annotated Corpus of Patient Histories

  • We have developed a tool for annotation of electronic health record (EHR) data. Currently we are in the process of manually annotating a corpus of Norwegian general practitioners' EHRs with mainly linguistic information. The purpose of this project is to attain a linguistically annotated corpus of patient histories from general practice. This corpus will be put to future use in medical language processing and information extraction applications. The paper outlines some of our practical experiences from developing such a corpus and, in particular, the effects of semi-automated annotation. We have also done some preliminary experiments with part-of-speech tagging based on our corpus. The results indicated that relevant training data from the clinical domain gives better results for the tagging task in this domain than training the tagger on a corpus form a more general domain. We are planning to expand the corpus annotations with medical information at a later stage.

도플러효과를 이용한 오케스트라 지휘 연습 툴 연구 (Study on Orchestra Conducting Practice Tool using Doppler Effect)

  • 본 연구는 지휘전공자와 지휘자가 언제, 어디서나 지휘 연습을 할 수 있는 지휘 연습 프로그램을 만든 것을 목표로 한다. 그동안 다양한 종류의 관련 연구들이 있었지만, 대부분 지휘 전공자를 위해 최적화 되어 있지 않았다. 게다가 장소와 공간에 제약을 받지 않는 지휘 연습을 위해서는 악기 연주자들처럼 휴대가 가능한 수준의 도구가 되어야 한다. 특히 오케스트라 지휘자가 지휘 박자 젓기만을 하는 메트로놈과 같은 사람이 아니라 연주자와 소통하면서 큐잉(Cueing)을 통해 악단을 진두지휘해 나간다는 대중에겐 잘 알려져 있지는 않지만 연습이 필요한 부분에 대해 좀 더 보강을 하고자 노력하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 연습 툴은 기존에 시행된 관련 연구들의 한계를 극복하기 위해 도플러 효과를 사용한다. 호환성이 좋고, 간편하며, 정확도가 높은 도플러 방식은 기존에 존재하는 센서들을 활용한 동작감지 방법보다 우수하다는 결론을 얻었다. 향후 추가 연구를 통해 좀 더 발전하게 되면 지휘 뿐 아니라 다양한 매체의 인터랙션 도구로 쓰일 것으로 예상된다.

GOMME: A Generic Ontology Modelling Methodology for Epics

  • Ontological knowledge modelling of epic texts, though being an established research arena backed by concrete multilingual and multicultural works, still suffers from two key shortcomings. Firstly, all epic ontological models developed till date have been designed following ad-hoc methodologies, most often combining existing general purpose ontology development methodologies. Secondly, none of the ad-hoc methodologies consider the potential reuse of existing epic ontological models for enrichment, if available. This paper presents, as a unified solution to the above shortcomings, the design and development of GOMME - the first dedicated methodology for iterative ontological modelling of epics, potentially extensible to works in different research arenas of digital humanities in general. GOMME is grounded in transdisciplinary foundations of canonical norms for epics, knowledge modelling best practices, application satisfiability norms, and cognitive generative questions. It is also the first methodology (in epic modelling but also in general) to be flexible enough to integrate, in practice, the options of knowledge modelling via reuse or from scratch. The feasibility of GOMME is validated via a first brief implementation of ontological modelling of the Indian epic Mahabharata by reusing an existing ontology. The preliminary results are promising, with the GOMME-produced model being both ontologically thorough and competent performance-wise.

  • This paper reviews Operations Research (OR)/Management Science (MS) in Korea. After a brief survey of global OR/MS, this paper analyzes the research trend in Korea over the past forty years with respect to approach, methods, types of data, and so on. The OR/MS application and practice in Korea are also surveyed and the change of them with time is shown. To do this, we refer to four main OR/MS journals published in Korea. The future of OR/MS is discussed in practice, methods to problem-solving, and education.

Dynamic Model for Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion Plant with Working Fluid of Binary Mixtures

  • Ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) is an effective method of power generation, which has a small impact on the environment and can be utilized semi-permanently. This paper describes a dynamic model for a pilot OTEC plant built by the Institute of Ocean Energy, Saga University, Japan. This plant is based on Uehara cycle, in which binary mixtures of ammonia and water is used as the working fluid. Some simulation results attained by this model and the analysis of the results are presented. The developed computer simulation can be used to actual practice effectively, such as stable control in a steady operation, optimal determination of the plant specifications for a higher thermal efficiency and evaluation of the economic prospects and off-line training for the operators of OTEC plant.

진단전문가시스템을 이용한 한의 실습의 설문 조사를 통한 AI에 대한 인식 및 활용방안 고찰 (Study on the Perception and Application of AI in Korean Medicine through Practice and Questionnaire of Korean Medicine Using a Diagnostic Expert System)

  • This study conducted a questionnaire for students of Pusan National University Graduate School of Korean Medicine who practiced using the Oriental Medicine Diagnosis System (ODS). From the questionnaire, this study investigated current state of application and perception of AI in Korean Medicine and explored the direction of ODS improvement and utilization. The survey questions consisted of six questions examining the satisfaction of the diagnostic expert system, five questions evaluating the availability of the diagnostic expert system, and six questions to predict the impact of AI on the Korean medicine community. The survey analysis showed high satisfaction with practice using ODS. On the other hand, the possibility of using ODS, especially in clinical use, was evaluated as relatively low compared to the satisfaction of the practice. Therefore, the overall impact of AI on the Korean medical community is not expected to be large. Although there are difficulties in standardization of clinical data due to the academic characteristics of Korean medicine, it is necessary to continue attempts to apply AI. By actively introducing educational tools using the latest AI techniques to the diagnosis experience and doctor-patient role in a practice, students will be able to increase their satisfaction with their practice and respond appropriately to the state-of-the-art medical environment.

  • As DAS becomes a common practice, various operational tools are needed. This paper proposes the new restoration strategy considering the coordination of the protective devices and the generalized method for determining the switching sequence. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been tested on the various real systems.

  • It is noted that the disaster such as fire, explosion, collapse has been rapidly increased caused by strength deterioration of steel structures at petrochemical plant during fire. In this regard, it is stressed out that the legal requirement for fire proofing for steel structures at petrochemical plant should be carefully reviewed since the current legal requirement such as Industrial Safety & Health Law, Architectural Law has a conflict and different way of approach. In addition, it is our point of view that the present law should be revised to consolidate into single law including engineering design criteria to reflect unreasonable legal requirement. It is further our point of view that the performance certificate for fire proofing like UL-1709, basis of maintenance should be appropriately and reasonably provided in line with global practice.

Strain-smoothed polygonal finite elements

  • Herein, we present effective polygonal finite elements to which the strain-smoothed element (SSE) method is applied. Recently, the SSE method has been developed for conventional triangular and quadrilateral finite elements; furthermore, it has been shown to improve the performance of finite elements. Polygonal elements enable various applications through flexible mesh handling; however, further development is still required to use them more effectively in engineering practice. In this study, piecewise linear shape functions are adopted, the SSE method is applied through the triangulation of polygonal elements, and a smoothed strain field is constructed within the element. The strain-smoothed polygonal elements pass basic tests and show improved convergence behaviors in various numerical problems.
