In this paper, we intend to examine the mediating effects of self-esteem and school life adaptation in the path between cultural adaptation stress and life satisfaction of multicultural adolescents, and propose ways to improve the life satisfaction level of multicultural adolescents. As analysis data for this purpose, the 4th, 5th, and 6th panel data of multicultural youth of the Korea Youth Policy Research Institute were used, and multivariate potential growth model analysis was performed using the statistical programs SPSS 23.0 and Amos 23.0 version. In addition, the individual mediating effects of self-esteem and school life adaptation were verified using phantom variables. As a result of the analysis, it was possible to confirm the longitudinal mediating effects of self-esteem and school life adaptation, which suggests that multi-dimensional efforts are needed to improve self-esteem and school life adaptation level to improve the life satisfaction level of multicultural adolescents. Therefore, based on the results of this study, practical measures to improve the life satisfaction of multicultural adolescents were presented in detail.
The purpose of this study was to verify whether there were significant differences in the levels and relationships of emotional intelligence, school adaptation, self-resilience, positive human relationships, and depression between elementary school students who participated in after-school music activities and those who did not. The participants of this study were 379 fourth, fifth, and sixth grade elementary school students in the Capital Area and Gyeongnam Province participated in after-school music activities and 368 students who did not, totaling 747 students. For research analysis, t-test and multi-group analysis were performed, and the analyzed results are as follows. First, the level of emotional intelligence, self-resilience, positive human relationships, and school adaptation were higher in the participating group and the level of depression was lower than the group that did not participate. Second, as a result of multiple group analysis, the participating group had stronger influences on the paths of [emotional intelligence→self-resilience], [emotional intelligence→positive human relationship], [emotional intelligence→depression], [emotional intelligence→school adaptation], and [self-resilience→school adaptation] than those of non-participating group. Third, the participating group showed mediating effects from self-resilience, positive human relationships, and depression in the relationship between emotional intelligence and school adaptation. On the other hand, the non-participating group manifested significant mediating effects only from self-resilience and depression variables in the relationship between emotional intelligence and school adaptation.
The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of family mealtime and family functioning (family cohesion, family adaptability, and communication with father and mother) on early adolescent school adaptation. Data of 3,145 middle school students from the Survey on the Family Values and Lives among Adolescents(2010) conducted by National Youth Policy Institute(NYPI) were used. The findings are as follows. First, there were significant differences in the frequency of having breakfast and dinner with father and having breakfast with mother, family cohesion, and communication with father according to gender. Second, hierarchical linear regression analyses revealed that household economic status, mother's employment status and adolescents' gender among demographic characteristics, having breakfast with father and having dinner with mother in family mealtime frequency, and all the variables of family functioning predicted adolescents' school adaptation. Finally, economic status, having dinner with mother, family cohesion, and communication with father and mother were associated with adolescents' school adaptation for both boys and girls. Mother's education and having breakfast with father were found to be significant for only boys, while mother's employment status and family adaptability were found to be significant for only girls. These findings could provide grounds for making family and education policy.
This study aimed to find out how to support school adaptation among multicultural family youth from accompanied entry, specifically the children who came to Incheon, Korea to live with new stepfather because of their mother's international marriage. The objective of the study is to seek for counter-measurements against the problems of their high probability of leaving and quitting school. Based on grounded theory in qualitative studies, the study was to analyze various categories and dimensions in school adaptation process among the elementary students. Individual, family, and school related factors were involved in the school adaptation process, positively or negatively. Probing and speculating multi-dimensional aspects of the adapting process, the study paid attention to the followings. First, to extent to which the experiences of school adjustment among the multicultural youths were differentiated from those of other students. Second, how the youths responded to society and other people, directly or indirectly, and modified their actions and attitudes. Third, how we can help the youths out of school maladjustment and toward social integration. In conclusion, policy suggestions are given to assist the struggles of the disadvantaged youth, who are under acculturative stress and adapting problems at the new country.
The purpose of this study was to describe initial adaptation processing of North Korean refugee children & Adolescents. Four children, four adolescents and Five faculties were participated in depth-interview. Results indicate that North Korean refugee children and adolescents have difficulties in adaptation. They have problems such as insufficient learning proficiency, confusion in curriculum, cultural gap, difficulty in making a friend, destruction in the family. But at the same time, we found out their unique and positive aspect which might help to overcome their problems. In conclusion, specific concerns and policies should be provided to support their school achievement and social adaptation.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences in irrational faith and the school adaptation of elementary school students by experimental group and control group. To achieve these goals, the followings are setting the programs. The subjects are selected from grade 4, 5, 6 students from the elementary schools. The tools used for this study were Irrational faith Test and School adaptation Test. The followings are the results of the analysis of the collected data. First, in the analysis of irrational faith, there is no significant difference between experimental group and control group. Second, in the analysis of school adaptation, there is significant difference between experimental group and control group(t=.05, p<.05).

Methods: Data were collected by questionnaires from 172 nursing students in the month of December 2017. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: A positive correlation was found for school adaptation with positive thinking and self-esteem. Positive thinking, self-esteem, major satisfaction and interpersonal relationships were all significant predictors of school adaptation. The model explained 43.6% of the variables. The purpose of this study is to find methods to prevent and improve smart device over-dependence problems by analyzing differences in school life adaptation and academic performance according to children's dependence on smart devices. For this, the data of fifth grade elementary school students in the 12th year were extracted and utilized from Panel Survey of Korean Children. The data were analyzed using non-hierarchical cluster(K-means) analysis, T-test, one-way ANOVA, and Scheffé tests. The results of this study are as follows. First, It has been shown that dependence on smart devices, school adaptation and academic performance have a negative correlation. Second, students in potential and high-risk groups who are highly dependent on smart devices have significantly lower school adaptation compared to those in the safety group. Third, high-risk students showed significantly lower academic performance compared to those in the potential risk group and general group. Based on these findings, it was suggested that for elementary school students who rely on smart devices, various learning support and national efforts such as counseling for school life adaptation are needed.

Purpose: This study was conducted to describe stress, stress coping, and school adaptation according to Myers-Briggs type indicator(MBTI) personality type in freshmen nursing students. Methods: This study was a cross sectional survey and the data was collected from 267 freshmen nursing students by means of self reported questionnaires from March 3 to 30, 2012. Collected data were analyzed on SPSS win 18.0. Results: 16 personality types were all seen in this study participants. There were no significant differences in stress, stress coping, and school adaptation according to 4 functions and 4 temperaments of MBTI. Conclusion: Nursing students show various personality types and we need to understand their diversity and reflect it to a school curriculum or education program development. Further study is required to identify the effects of self-understanding program on stress management and school adaptation.
Methods for symbol-by-symbol channel feedback and adaptation of symbol durations have been recently proposed. In this paper, we quantitatively analyze the gain in error-constrained data throughput due to such an extremely rapid adaptation of symbol durations to fast-time-varying channels. The results show that a symbol-by-symbol adaptation can achieve a throughput gain by orders of magnitude over a frame-by-frame adaptation.
