  • To perform long-term sewer monitoring, It is important to understand the nature of the wastewater flow that occurs at the point on early stage of the monitor and to prevent in advance a problem which may caused. We can infer the flow properties and external factors by analyzing the scatter graph obtained from the measured data flow rate monitoring data since an field external factor affecting the sewage flow is reflected in the flow rate monitoring data. In this study, Selecting the three points having various external factors, and we Inferred the sewer flow characteristics from depth-velocity scatter graph and determined the analysis equation for the dry-weather flow rate data. At the'point 1' expected non-pressure flow, we were able to see the drawdown effect caused by the free fall in the manhole section. At the'point 2', existed weir and sediments, there was backwater effect caused by them, and each of size calculated from the scatter graph analysis were 400 mm and 130 mm. At the'Point 3', there is specific flow pattern that is coming from flood wave propagation generated by the pump station at upstream. In common, adequate equations to explain the dry weather flow data are flume equation and modified manning equation(SS method), and the equations had compatibility for explaining the data because all of $R^2$ values are over 0.95.

  • This study considers the performance of students in Grades 5 to 10 on four tasks assessing students' ability to evaluate data presented in numerical form, for example, in a list or table, or in graphical form, for example, in a frequency graph or scatter graph. The ability to tell a story from data or a graph is an important aspect of statistical literacy. The samples provide the opportunity to consider the association of two pairs of items, one from each type of interpretation, numerical and graphical. Educational implications for the outcomes and the classroom use of the items are considered.

  • Graph is a major aspect of science textbooks. In this study, we investigated graph types and characteristics used in high school earth science subject by comparative analysis of science textbooks. The results of the analysis revealed that line graph and contour map was the most widely used graph types in earth science. Among line graphs, multiple line graph and YX graph was dominant. Comparing earth science graphs with other science graphs, earth science graphs exhibited superior in the number and variety. In earth science graphs, the portion of line graph was small, but the portion of contour map and scatter graph was larger than that of other science graphs. YX graph was the most specific graph type in earth science textbooks. The results of our study have implications for reform in function and structure of graph. We suggest that future studies be focused on students' ability of earth science graph interpretation.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the graph interpretation ability and perception of high school students and preservice secondary teachers in Earth science. We developed two different instruments; one was a graph interpretation ability inventory that consists of 9 graph types with 18 items, and the other one is two questionnaires to explore the participants' perception about Earth science-related graph. The results of this study are as follows: High school students and preservice secondary teachers demonstrated their remarkable ability in interpreting a line graph, but showed their limited ability with the graph of overlapped and directional change, which means the graph interpretation ability was affected by a graph type; two groups participated in this study revealed a considerable difference in the graph interpretation ability depending on the grade level; preservice teachers were superior to high school students in discriminating two graphs, the representation method, which are different with the same topic; and many participants in both groups considered that the property of Earth science graph was considerably different from that of other science subjects, especially in directional change graph, scatter graph, contour map, and domain graph. The results suggest that the effective graph instruction strategies be developed in Earth science learning.

  • The purpose of this paper is to determine the fuel change and weight change impact on the fuel economy and emission characteristic of ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicle. According to fuel type, fuel consumption and emission characteristics were measured and fuel used in this paper was gasoline, diesel, and LPG. Four vehicles with different weight were tested and the fuel economy were compared and analyzed by using scatter graph. Test was carried out using chassis dynamometer, CVS (Constant Volume Sampler), and emission measurement system. Diesel vehicle less emited $CO_2$ compared to gasoline and LPG. Even if same $CO_2$ between gasoline and LPG, there are difference fuel economy depending on carbon proportion of specific fuel. The heavier weight of vehicle, the worse of fuel economy and Better fuel economy performance on highway driving mode.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate IPA(Importance Performance Analysis) of the hospital choice factor between internal and external customers at S general hospital. This study was used 5 types of choice factors such as physical, interpersonal, accessibility, connection, and image. This study was used Importance Performance Analysis which can be applied to identify the strengths and weaknesses attributes from hospital customers' viewpoint. The sample was selected 116 patients and 97 internal employees for S hospital in Seoul. Data were collected with self-reported questionnaires from April 1 to 29 in 2012 and analyzed by paired t-test, scatter plot graph. The result of the study was that the perceptional gaps between internal and external consumers were existed in physical, connection and image factors, except interpersonal, accessibility. The "Keep up the good work" quadrant was interpersonal factor, and the "Low Priority" quadrant was accessibility. The findings of this study will be applied to make hospital strategic decision making and to improve marketing service quality in administrative department of hospital.

  • The purpose of this study is to measure IPA(Importance Performance Analysis) of the hospital choice factors between internal and external customers at rural general hospital. This study was used 5 types of choice factor such as physical, human, accessibility, connection, and external image. Also, this study was used IPA which can be applied to identify the strengths and weaknesses quality attributes from customers' viewpoint by simultaneously evaluating importance and performance. IPA was assessed using a sample of 98 patients and 96 internal employees who work at C general hospital in Chunkcheongbuk-do. Data were collected with self-administered questionnaires from February 13 to March 30 in 2012 and analyzed SPSS 18 by using frequency, paired t-test and scatter plot graph. The results of IPA show that "Keep up the good work" quadrant was human factor and "Low Priority" quadrant was physical and connection factors between internal and external customers. The finding of this study will be applied to improve human service quality in administrative department of hospital. Also, this study presents primary data for correct decision making to authorities of local hospitals that have concern about hospital strategy. The implications of this study are discussed and areas for future research are presented.

  • To clarify the distribution of joints and fracture zones in the Cheongju granitic mass, we analyzed drill-core and geophysical well-logging data obtained at two boreholes located 30 m from each other. Lithological properties were investigated from the drill-core data and the samples were classified based on the rock mass rating (RMR) and on rock quality designation (RQD). Subsurface discontinuities within soft and hard rocks were examined by geophysical well-logging and cross-hole seismic tomography. The velocity structures constructed from seismic tomography are well correlated with the profile of bedrock depth, previously mapped from a seismic refraction survey. Dynamic elastic moduli, obtained from full waveform sonic and ${\gamma}-{\gamma}$ logging, were interrelated with P-wave velocities to investigate the dynamic properties of the rock mass. Compared with the correlation graph between elastic moduli and velocities for hard rock at borehole BH-1, the correlation points for BH-2 data showed a wide scatter. These scattered points reflect the greater abundance of joints and fractures near borehole BH-2. This interpretation is supported by observations by acoustic televiewer (ATV) and optical televiewer (OTV) image loggings.
