  • There is no other accessaries that is loved unchangeably in our clothes's life. It is always used except very hot season and it is loved as a necessity item of fashion coordination item used by catholic age group. There are many smart dressers who match more than ten scarfs to clothes otherwise having one or two before. The more having scarf is better for giving new images with usual clothes. The scarf fashion is boomed in streets from last season. Especially, luxury scarf is that popularity accessories in twenties women with a tendency of emphasizing wealth. The popularity of scarf can easily be recognized on the streets and on the displays in department. And the character brand of new basic feminie style is suggested the scarf as an accessary for coordination. It is appeared that animal prints, ethnic flower pattern prints and geometrical patterns for scarf. As the trend of fashion trade is diversified with classic and vintage, the design and style of scarf is satisfied. So there is a purpose of studying fashion scarf presentation to use scarf more efficiently.

  • This study examined the relationship between the scarf angle and stress distribution, and estimated the strength recovery via a finite element analysis. The following conclusions were drawn from this study. Resin will fracture due to a tensile load with a high scarf angle, which is similar to the patch repair method. An applied stress can be loaded to a repaired laminate if the scarf angle is $5^{\circ}$. The Von-Mises stress increases with decreasing scarf angle, with the exception of a scarf angle of $30^{\circ}$, where the scarf angle can indicate the rates of shear and normal stresses. Strength recovery can be better if the scarf angle is decreased to a lower angle. However, scarf machining requires more time, a high skill level and considerable expense. Therefore, a scarf angle of $5^{\circ}$ is the most effective for a repair. These results may provide a guide for engineers wishing to formulate a standard for repair. The scarf angle needs to be carefully managed for a more efficient composite repair.

  • We studied about the strength characteristics of the FRP bonding method due to reduce accident on the oceans and protect life for my people. We test tension and bending strength of butt joint, lap joint, V-scarf joint, X-scarf joint. The result of test, it's pattern is similar both tension and bending strength. Tension strength and bending strength was excellent in order to X-scarf-butt joint-V-scarf-lap joint. The tension strength is the best properties X-scarf showed a 57% strength rate of the basic material, and bending strength showed a 77% strength rate of the basic material. Overall, the X-scarf 12t joint has most excellent properties of tension and bending strength. The lap joint has worst properties of tension and bending strength. We have to test having different over-lay of V-scarf and X-scarf joint each 12t, 16t, 20t. V-scarf of 20t over-lay has excellent character of tension and bending strength. But X-scarf of 12t over-lay has excellent character of tension and bending strength. The results are shown to the contrary. The ship is received a lot of stress. it's hard to compare a direction both actual and test. But we can acknowledge material basic characteristic of strength through tension and bending test. We give the four repair method; butt joint, lap joint, V-scarf joint, X-scarf joint and the reduced ratio in comparison with basic material; In addition give the separated data for V-scarf and X-scarf characteristic of 12t, 16t, 20t overlay length. For our study repair man can select good repair method in his work station.

  • In this study, nine scarf designs expected to be effective for accent design for the fashion style of new senior women were suggested by reflecting purchase behavior and scarf preference after conducting surveys and an analysis by targeting 136 new senior women in order to propose scarf design-matching with the preferences of new seniors. As a result of the study on the scarf purchase features of new seniors, it was revealed that the purchase time for scarves was mainly autumn and winter, even though it is regardless of season, and in spring and summer, they seldom purchased scarves. The purchase frequency was four times a year, and what they first thought of at the time of purchase was represented in the order of color, design, and the material of the scarf. They most preferred department stores, mixed and achromatic colors, cotton and silk fabrics, natural and geometric patterns, and long scarves of a rectangular shape. In the case of the consumer attributes of scarves, it was revealed that $50^{th}$ desired more individuality-oriented, unique scarf designs than $60^{th}$, and $60^{th}$ desired scarf designs with convenient management considering others' attention compared with $50^{th}$. As concepts for scarf designs, the aspects of individuality, co-existence, and maturity were extracted by reflecting the features of new senior women, and a total of nine scarf designs were suggested by developing three sub-designs for each concept.

  • Composite structures are generally pressurized at both sides when repaired by the scarf repair method. But single-face vacuum bag curing (SVC) may be used in some practical scarf repair of penetration damage due to the low accessibility of composite structures, which can decrease bonding quality and may reduce structural mechanical properties. In this paper, experimental investigations were conducted on tensile and compressive properties of scarf-repaired composite laminates using SVC and double-face vacuum bag curing (DVC) in four hygrothermal environments. Finite element models of composite scarf joints with voids were established to further explore the failure mechanism of scarf-repaired laminates. Results show that the curing condition hardly affects tensile and compressive properties of the repaired laminates though it significantly affects the bonding quality with adhesive inner voids. Failure loads of scarf joints almost keep unchanged with adhesive voids increasing.

  • In human history, scarf has acted not only as a protection for body but also as a symbolization of class. Today, scarf has become a whole field in fashion and an important accessory to express individuality in fashion. Hence, like other fashion item, it is very important to develop exclusive design for scarf by analyzing the current fashion trend. In this research, we have designed a scarf textile, accordance with the contemporary design trend, applying the floral pattern, designed by William Morris who was an artist considered as the founder of the 1800s arts and crafts movement. We selected four trend themes, "Salon de Archives", "Eco Tech", "Profound Nature", and "Neo Aristo" for the design of 2007/2008 Fall/Winter. The flower motifs in Pimpernel Wallpaper, Honeysuckle textile design, Acanthus Wallpaper, Garden tulip wallpaper, Evenlode printed cotton, Trellis Wallpaper, and Chrysanthemum Wallpaper, by William Morris who expressed an image of environment friendly and nature reversion, applied to develop new creative scarf through design after modifying and rearranging these flower patterns. After the pattern was drawn by hand, adjusting of color and repeating of the design was done with DTP (Digital Textile Printing). Through this research, the researchers hopes to be of assistance to the development of national scarf brand design, and to the recapturing of textile industry that once played a important role in Koreans economic development.

  • The aim of this work is to optimize the geometrical parameters as the adhesive thickness and the beveled angle to reduce the edge effect of the scarf and V bounded joint. A finite element analysis is done to define the generated stresses in the bounded joint. The geometrical optimum is obtained using the Experimental Design Method. Results show that the double scarf (V) joint is better than the simple scarf bounded joint.

  • The reinforcement effect of micro-bolt for a bonded scarf joint was investigated. Three scarf ratios of 1/10, 1/20, and 1/30 were considered to examine the effect of scarf patch configuration on joint strength. To maintain the same density of micro-bolt, 16, 32, and 48 bolts were installed in the scarf joint specimens with scarf ratios of 1/10, 1/20, and 1/30, respectively. Tests were also carried out on the joints that are bonded with only adhesive and that are fastened with only micro-bolts to obtain reference values. The average failure loads of the adhesive joints with scarf ratios of 1/10, 1/20, and 1/30 were 29.7, 39.6, and 44.8 kN, respectively. In case of micro-bolt reinforcement, the failure loads at the same scarf ratios were 28.4, 37.2, and 40.1 kN, respectively, which corresponds to 96, 94, and 90% of the pure adhesive joint failure loads. In the case of using only micro-bolts, the failure loads were only 13-25% of the average failure loads of pure adhesive joints. Fatigue test was also conducted for the joints with scarf ratio of 1/10. The results show that the fatigue strength of hybrid joints using both adhesive and microbolts together slightly increased compared to the fatigue strength of adhesive joint, but the rate of increase was small to 2-3%. Through this study, it was confirmed that the reinforcement effect of micro-bolt is negligible in the scarf joints where shear stress is dominating the failure, unlike in the structure where peel stress is dominant.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiographic results of the parallel-shaped modified Scarf osteotomy which is performed the Scarf osteotomy parallel to the shaft of the 1st metatarsal bone for hallux valgus deformities. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 43 patients who had been treated by the parallel-shaped modified Scarf osteotomy for hallux valgus deformities between January 2006 and March 2011. We evaluated the results after this Scarf osteotomy with respect American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) scores, radiologic results by comparing intermetatarsal angle between 1stand 2nd metatarsal bones and hallux valgus angle. Results: We checked out the pre-operational and post-operational radiologic evaluation of intermetatarsal angle and hallux valgus angle between 1st and 2nd metatarsal bones. The mean AOFAS scores improved from 63.5 to 88.5. At final follow up, The hallux valgus angle improved from $31.4^{\circ}$ (16-52) to $9.0^{\circ}$ (3-13) and the intermetatarsal angle improved from $18.6^{\circ}$ (12-30) to $9.3^{\circ}$ (6-12) postoperatively. There was no case of major complications included recurrence of valgus deformity, correction or fixation failure and stress fractures. Conclusion: Our results suggest the our parallel-shaped modified Scarf osteotomy produces improved AOFAS scores, and effective correction of hallux valgus deformities. Our Scarf technique of osteotomy which is performed in parallel to the metatarsal bone minimizes the need for skill while more reliable and obtaining good correction and avoids associated complications.
