New Min-sum LDPC Decoding Algorithm Using SNR-Considered Adaptive Scaling Factors

  • This paper proposes a new min-sum algorithm for low-density parity-check decoding. In this paper, we first define the negative and positive effects of the received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the min-sum decoding algorithm. To improve the performance of error correction by considering the negative and positive effects of the received SNR, the proposed algorithm applies adaptive scaling factors not only to extrinsic information but also to a received log-likelihood ratio. We also propose a combined variable and check node architecture to realize the proposed algorithm with low complexity. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves up to 0.4 dB coding gain with low complexity compared to existing min-sum-based algorithms.

  • A new voltage-scaled compensation pixel which employs 3 p-type poly-Si TFTs and 2 capacitors without additional control line has been proposed and verified. The proposed pixel does not employ the $V_{TH}$ memorizing and cancellation, but scales down the inevitable $V_{TH}$ variation of poly-Si TFT. Also the troublesome narrow input range of $V_{DATA}$ is increased and the $V_{DD}$ supply voltage drop is suppressed. In our experimental results, the OLED current error is successfully compensated by easily controlling the proposed voltage scaling effects.

  • 본 논문에서는 4-ary SWSK(4-ary scaling wavelet shift keying) 시스템에서 웨이브릿에 대한 성능을 분석코자 한다. 기존의 4-ary SWSK 시스템에서 비트 에러확률이 유도된 바 있다. 그래서 기존의 비트 에러확률과 부호 에러확률을 이용하여 Daubechies, Biorthogonal, Coiflet, Symlet 웨이브릿에 대한 비트 및 부호 에러확률을 실험적으로 구하였다. 또 웨이브릿의 탭 개수와 주기 변화에 대해서 그 성능을 분석하였다.

확장-보간/2D-DCT 기법을 이용한 영역 적응적인 이동보상 오차의 보호화 (Region adaptive motion compensated error coding using extension-interpolation/2D-DCT)

  • This paper presents a new motion compensated error coding method suitable for region based image coding system. Compared with block based conding, the region based coding improves subjective quality as it estimates and compensates 2D (or 3D) translantional, rotational, and scaling motion for each regions. although the region based coding has this advantage, its merit is reduced as bock-DCT (2D-DCT) is used to encode motion-compensated error. To overcome this problem, a new region adaptive motion compensated error coding technique which improver subjective and objective quality in the region boundary is proposed in this paper. In the proposed method, regions with large error are estimated using contour of the regions and contrast between the regions. The regions estiated as those with large error are coded by arbitrarily shaped image segment coding method. The mask information of the coded regions is not transmitted because it is estimated as the same algorithm in the encoder and the decoder. The proposed region adaptive motion conpensated error coding method improves about 0.5dB when it is compared with conventional block based method.

  • An adaptive maximum power point tracking (MPPT) scheme employing a variable scaling factor is presented. A MPPT control loop was constructed analytically and the magnitude variation in the MPPT loop gain according to the operating point of the PV array was identified due to the nonlinear characteristics of the PV array output. To make the crossover frequency of the MPPT loop gain consistent, the variable scaling factor was determined using an approximate curve-fitted polynomial equation about linear expression of the error. Therefore, a desirable dynamic response and the stability of the MPPT scheme were maintained across the entire MPPT voltage range. The simulation and experimental results obtained from a 3 KW rated prototype demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed MPPT scheme.

  • Fuzzy logic control(FLC) is composed of three parts : fuzzy rule-bases, membership functions, and scaling factors. Well-defined fuzzy rule-base should contain proper physical intuition on the plant, so are needed lots of experiences of the skillful expert. When membership functions are considered, some parameters on the memberships function such as function shape, support, allocation density should be selected well. The rule of scaling factors is 'scaling'(amplifying or reducing) for both input and output signals of the FLC to fit in the membership function support and to operate the plant intentionally. To get a better performance of the FLC, it is necessary to adjust the parameters of the FLC. In general, the adaptation of the scaling factors is the most effective adjustment scheme, compared with that of the fuzzy rule-base or membership function parameters. This study proposes the adaptation scheme of the scaling factors. When the adaptation is performed on-line, the stability of the adaptive FLC should be guaranteed. The stable FLC system can be designed with stability analysis in the sense of Lyapunov stability. To adapt the scaling factors for the error signals, the concept of the conventional MRAC would be introduced into slightly modified form. A tracking accuracy of the control system would be enhanced by the modified shape and support of the membership function. The simulation is achieved on the pilot plant with the hydraulic steering control of a UCT(Unmanned Container Transporter) of which modeling dynamics have lots of severe uncertainties and modeling errors.

Reduction of Current Ripples due to Current Measurement Errors in a Doubly Fed Induction Generator

  • This paper proposes a new compensation algorithm for the current measurement errors in a DFIG (Doubly Fed Induction Generator). Generally, current measurement path with current sensors and analog devices has non-ideal factors like offset and scaling errors. As a result, the dq-axis currents of the synchronous reference frame have one and two times ripple components of the slip frequency. In this paper, the main concept of the proposed algorithm is implemented by integrating the 3-phase rotor currents into the stationary reference frame to compensate for the measured current ripples in a DFIG. The proposed algorithm has several beneficial features: easy implementation, less computation time, and robustness with regard to variations in the electrical parameters. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified by several experiments.

Novel Wavelet-Fuzzy Based Indirect Field Oriented Control of Induction Motor Drives

  • This paper presents a wavelet-fuzzy based controller for indirect field oriented control of three-phase induction motor drives. The discrete wavelet transform is used to decompose the error between the actual speed and the command speed of the induction motor drive into different frequency components. The transformed error coefficients along with the scaling gains are used for generating the control component of the motor. Self-tuning fuzzy logic is used for online tuning of the scaling gains of the controller. The proposed controller has the ability to meet the speed tracking requirements in the closed loop system. The complete indirect field oriented control scheme incorporating the proposed wavelet-fuzzy based controller is investigated theoretically and simulated under various dynamic operating conditions. The simulation results are compared with a conventional proportional integral controller and a fuzzy based controller. The speed control scheme incorporating the proposed controller is implemented in real time using a digital processor control board. Simulation and experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

빈도해석과 지역 스케일 모델을 이용한 확률강우량 추정에 대한 연구 (A Study on Estimation of Quantile using Regional Scaling Model and Frequency Analysis)

  • 국내의 경우 수공구조물을 설계하기 위해서는 빈도해석을 통해 설계수문량을 산정한다. 일반적으로 실무에서는 지점빈도해석을 수행하게 되는데 설계빈도보다 대부분 짧은 기간의 자료를 이용하여 산정한다. 지역빈도해석은 이러한 자료기간이 가지는 문제점을 극복하기 위하여 확률수문량의 정확도와 신뢰도를 향상시키는 기법이다. 스케일 모델은 지속기간별로 관측된 강우자료를 이용하여 재현기간에 대한 지속기간의 함수로 표현이 가능하며, 이를 통해 강우의 IDF곡선을 제시할 수 있는 수학적 모델이다. 대상지역의 강우관측소에서 관측된 강우자료가 일단위이면, 기준지속기간이 24시간이 되며, 기준지속기간에 대한 확률강우량으로부터 임의의 지속기간에 대한 확률강우량을 스케일 모델을 이용하여 추정할 수 있다. 따라서 짧은 자료를 보유한 지역이거나 미계측 지역에 대한 확률강우량을 추정을 위해 지역빈도해석과 지역 스케일 모델을 이용하여 확률강우량을 추정하여 지점빈도해석과 비교하고자 한다. 본 연구를 위해 한강유역의 강우 관측소를 이용하였으며, 군집분석 중 k-means방법을 적용하여 수문학적 동질성을 확보한 후 지역을 구분하였다. 구분된 지역은 지점 및 지역빈도해석을 수행한 후 상대평균제곱근오차(relative root mean square error, RRMSE)를 비교하여 정확도를 판단하였고, 정확도가 높은 빈도해석에 지역 스케일 모델을 적용하여 미계측 지점에 대한 임의의 시간에 대한 확률강우량을 추정하고자 한다.

데이터 스케일링과 분할 방식에 따른 예측모델의 영향 분석 - 그라운드 앵커가 설치된 흙막이 벽체 대상 (Analysis of the Impact on Prediction Models Based on Data Scaling and Data Splitting Methods - For Retaining Walls with Ground Anchors Installed)

  • 최근 지하공간에 대한 수요가 많아지면서 대심도 굴착으로 흙막이 벽체가 활용되고 있다. 흙막이 벽체는 변위에 취약한 구조물로써 국토교통부에서 제시한 관리기준으로 계측관리를 수행하고 있으나 계측관리를 통한 대비는 후처리에 가깝다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 머신러닝을 이용한 그라운드 앵커가 설치된 흙막이 벽체의 수평변위 예측뿐만 아니라 머신러닝으로 계측데이터를 학습하는 과정에서 데이터 스케일링과 분할 방법에 따른 예측모델의 영향을 분석하였다. 이 연구의 분석결과에 따르면 사용자 지정분할방법이 적합하지 않은 경우도 있었으나 일정 조건하에서 데이터 학습 및 출력에 가장 우수한 성능을 나타냈다. 데이터 스케일링은 앵커의 인장력, 수압을 표준화하였을 때 오차 1 이내, R-Squared 값이 0.77로 우수한 성능을 나타냈으며 스케일링을 적용하지 않은 모델 대비 음의 변위를 예측하는 결과를 보였다.
