In this paper, for a spectrum sensing purpose, we heuristically established a test statistic (TS) from a sample covariance matrix (SCM) for multiple antennas based cognitive radio. The TS is formulated as a scaled-energy which is calculated as a sum of scaled diagonal entries of a SCM; each of the diagonal entries of a SCM scaled by corresponding row's Euclidean norm. On the top of that, by combining theoretical results together with simulation observations, we have approximated a decision threshold of the TS which does not need prior knowledge of noise power and primary user signal. Furthermore, simulation results - which are obtained in a fading environment and in a spatially correlating channel model - show that the proposed method stands effect of noise power mismatch (non-uniform noise power) and has significant performance improvement compared with state-of-the-art test statistics.

The Advanced Spent Fuel Conditioning Process (ACP) have been developed at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) as an alternative for the effective conditioning of spent fuel far long-term storage or/and eventual disposal. This paper addresses the safeguardability of a pilot-scaled ACP facility and its sensitivity analysis. For this, a conceptual process and its material flow are analyzed using experiences from conventional fuel cycles, and measurement methods and their uncertainties are assumed for calculating MUF (Material Uncounted For) standards deviation (SD), We concluded from the preliminary analysis of the MUF SD that the pilot-scaled ACP facility with capacity of 30 MTHM/year can meet the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards goals.
Wind tunnel test for the 12% scaled model of NREL Phase VI wind turbine was conducted in KARI low speed wind tunnel for $2006{\sim}2007$. The 1st and 2nd test was designed to find out the wind tunnel test method for the blade manufacturing accuracy and surface treatment method by using the composite and aluminum blades. And the 3rd test was designed to study the scale effect. The chord extension method which was used for Bo-105 40% scaled model was adapted for scale effect correction. Test results shows that the chord extension method works well for the torque slope but the maximum torque for scaled model is about 8% below than the real scale model. New correction method to correct this offset was proposed.

PSALI is referred to the supplementary lighting for the interior lighting under the daily lighting situation, and pursuant to the pertinent regulations in energy savings design standard and others in recent architecture works, the importance thereof has been increasing gradually coupled with the energy performance index (EPI), energy savings plan and the like as well as expansion of submittal and implementation policies. However, this type of PSALI studies indeed have a number of limitations since it has surrounding environmental conditions in direction, season, region, climate, time, opening rate, window area ratio, actual index, reflection rate of finishing materials and others in the architecture work as well as frequent changes in interior lighting environment for variables in daily light volume flowing into the interior, and others. Therefore, this study has analyzed existing advance research cases to produce the actual-sized model and scaled-down model, and installed the artificial lighting of LED light source possible to reproduce with same capability on both models. As a result of comparison and analysis of the artificial lighting with the key light, it has certain level of error rate from the scaled down lighting device in certain rate and actual model butit was noticeably significant within specific scope.

Energy problem has been issued in worldwide because fossil fuel has being almost exhausted. A lot of renewable energy have been received attention to replace the energy from fossil fuel. Among them, piezoelectric energy harvester is one of excellent candidates. In general, micro scaled small sized energy harvesters were usually based on the lithography process. However, these lithography process require complicated process and high cost. In this paper, a new process has been proposed for micro-scaled piezoelectric energy harvester. $0.2Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-0.8Pb(Zr_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})O_3$ composition was used as piezoelectric material due to excellent piezoelectric properties and also can be easily prepared by mixed oxide method.
Since Paris Climate Change Conference in 2015, many policies to reduce the emission of greenhouse gas have been accelerating, which are mainly related to renewable energy resources and micro-grid. Presently, the technology development and demonstration projects are mostly focused on diversifying the power resources by adding wind turbine, photo-voltaic and battery storage system in the island-type small micro-grid. It is expected that the large-scaled micro-grid projects based on the regional district and town/complex city, e.g. the block type micro-grid project in Daegu national industrial complex will proceed in the near future. In this case, the economic cost or the carbon emission can be optimized by the efficient operation of energy mix and the appropriate construction of electric and heat supplying facilities such as cogeneration, renewable energy resources, BESS, thermal storage and the existing heat and electricity supplying networks. However, when planning a large residential town or city, the concrete plan of the energy infrastructure has not been established until the construction plan stage and provided by the individual energy suppliers of water, heat, electricity and gas. So, it is difficult to build the efficient energy portfolio considering the characteristics of town or city. This paper introduces an energy mix optimization(EMO) method to determine the optimal capacity of thermal and electric resources which can be applied in the design stage of the real large-scaled residential town or city, and examines the feasibility of the proposed method by applying the real heat and electricity demand data of large-scale residential towns with thousands of households and by comparing the result of HOMER simulation developed by National Renewable Energy Laboratory(NREL).

The measurements of velocities of internal flow in a scaled-up nozzle were made by laser Doppler velocimetry in order to clarify the effect of internal flow on the characteristics of fuel spray. The investigated length to diameter ratio(L/d) of the orifice were 1, 3, 4, 5 and 8, and inlet radius to diameter ratio(r0/d) were 0 and 0.5. Mean and fluctuating velocities and discharge coefficients were obtained at various Reynolds number ranging between 15,000 and 28,000, and L/d ranging between 1 and 8 in sharp and round inlet nozzle. The turbulent intensity and turbulent kinetic energy at exit in a sharp inlet nozzle were higher than that in a round inlet nozzle. For sharp inlet nozzle, fluctuating velocities near exit were decreased with increasing L/d.

The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) has a scaled-down moderator test program to simulate the CANDU6 moderator circulation phenomena during steady state operation and accident conditions. In the present work a preliminary experiment using a 1/8 scaled-down moderator tank has been performed to identify the potential problems of the flow visualization and measurement in the scaled-down moderator test facility. With a transparent moderator tank model, a velocity field is measured with a Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) technique under an isothermal state. The flow patterns from the inlet nozzles to the top region of the tank are investigated using PIV for a 1/8 scale moderator tank.
Safety engineers should be reasonably assigned to construction sites in order to prevent accidents specially for large-scaled projects. More engineering-oriented safety engineers should be assigned to those large-scaled projects because accident causes are found to be due to more technical aspects rather than general safety problems. more experienced engineers should be assigned to larger scaled projects for covering more technical aspects. This one is analyzed by the existing accident results. This study is to find out some formulae to calculate how many safety engineers should be assigned to construction sites, by amounts, by project kinds, by project scales, by engineer grades. So that construction contractor can assign them to their site economically.
The most important advantages of atrium buildings are to allow the abundant natural lighting and outside views. However, the abundant lighting frequently causes to increase a cooling load in summer. The roof watering systems are useful to reduce the cooling load and save the energy. This study aims to investigate the effects of the roof watering system in atrium through the scaled model experiments. For the study, the 1/20 scaled model was made and tests were performed under the clear sky conditions through August 24 to september 7 in 2008. The model size was $45{\times}45{\times}60(cm)$ and depth of roof water was 3(cm). As results, the thermal effects of two types of atrium(roof opening, and roof and front opening,) were evaluated through the experimental points and conditions. It is expected to use the results for the next research to develop the practical roof watering systems for atrium.
