압밀특성에 관한 연구 (I) (선행하중이 압밀특성에 주는 영향) (A Study on the Characteristics of Consolidation of Soils (I) (The Influence of Pre-consolidation Load of Soils on Consolidation Characteristics))

  • The determination of the pre-consolidation load known to have a great effect on the consolidation characteristics of the soil have been researched and discussed in detail by many other researchers. A study was undertaken to investigate and compare the effect of pre-consolidation loads on the coefficient of permeability and the consolidation characterisics of soil through the consolidation test on the three types of soil samples. The results of this study are follows; 1. Large compression index is dependent on initial void ratio of the sample being used and the pressure-void ratio curve shows a curved linear relationship in over-consolidated area but a linear relationship in normally consolidated area.2. Settlement-time curve is S-shaped where the pressure is larger than pre-consolidation load and regardless of over-burden pressure, it is a similar straight line respectively in the secondary consolidation area. 3. Primary consolidation ratio of the sample increases almost linearly with the increase of over-burden pressure but the coefficient of volume compressibility decreases linearly with the increase of it. 4. Time factor of a certain degree of consolidation increases with over-burden pressure but the coefficient of consolidation decreases with it in over-consolidated area. There is a linear relationship between them in normally consolidated area. 5. The void ratio of completion point of primary consolidation decreases linearly with over-burden pressure. 6. The coefficient of permeability of sample decreases linearly with over-burden pressure in normally consolidated area, also it increases linearly with increment of the void ratio of the sample.

Sample Size Determination for the Estimation of Population Density of Marine Benthos on a Tidal Flat and a Subtidal Area, Korea

  • The requisite numbers of sample replicates for the population study of soft-bottom benthos were estimated from survey data on the Songdo tidal flat and subtidal zone in Youngil Bay, Korea. Large numbers of samples were taken; two-hundred-fifty 0.02 m$^2$ box corers and fifty 0.1m$^2$ van Veen grabs were taken on the Songdo tidal flat and in Youngil Bay, respectively. The effect of sampler size on sampling efforts was investigated by pooling the unit samples in pairs, fours, eights, etc. The requisite number of sample replicates (n$_r$) was determined by sample variance (s$^2$) and mean (m) function (n$_r$:s$^2$/P$^2$m$^2$), at P=0.2 level, in which s$^2$ and m were calculated from the counts of individuals collected. For example, seven samples of 0.02 m$^2$ corer for the intertidal and two samples of 0.1 m$^2$ van Veen grab for subtidal fauna were required to estimate the total density of community. The smaller sampler size was more efficient than larger ones when sampling costs were compared on the basis of the total sampling area. The requisite number of sample replicates was also predicted ($\^{n}$n$_r$) by substituting $\^{s}$$^2$ obtained from the regression of s$^2$ against m using the Taylor's power law ($\^{s}$$^2$:am$^b$). The regression line of survey data on s$^2$ and m plotted on log scale was well fitted to the Taylor's power law (r$^2$${\geq}$0.95, p<;0.001) over the whole range of m. The exponent b was, however, varied when it was estimated from m which was categorized into classes by its scale. The fitted exponent b was large when both density class and the sampler size were large. The number of sample replicates, therefore, could be more significantly estimated, if regression coefficients (a and b) would be calculated from sample variance and mean categorized into density classes.

  • 포인트 클라우드 데이터는 어떠한 형태를 표현하기 위해 무수히 많은 점들을 갖는 데이터 집합으로 특정 벡터 시스템에서 표현될 수 있으며, 일반적으로 3차원 좌표 공간에서 다양한 특성을 갖게 된다. 본 논문은 3차원 좌표 시스템의 포인트 클라우드에서 기존 방법(Hough Transform)보다 빠른 실린더 형태의 파이프 추정을 목표로 한다. 이를 위해 비교적 빠른 RANdom SAmple Consensus(RANSAC)를 사용한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 실린더 형태의 파이프 추정은 두 가지 형태의 수학적 모델을 근거로 파라미터를 계산하고, 결과를 조합하여 예측한다. 두 가지 수학적 모델은 구(Sphere)와 직선(Line)이며, RANSAC 적합을 통해 실린더의 축과 반지름이 될 수 있는 구의 파라미터(중심과 반지름)를 계산하고, 이를 직선화하여 실린더를 추정한다. 이는 법선 추정(Normal Estimation) 및 분할(Segmentation) 없이 비교적 정확도를 유지하며, 빠르게 실린더 매칭을 할 수 있게 한다. 빠른 실린더 매칭은 실시간 파이프 추정이 필요한 레이저 스캐닝 및 건설 역설계 분야에서 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

Quantitative Assay of Hepatitis B Surface Antigen by Using Surface Plasmon Resonance Biosensor

  • We performed a basic experiment for the rapid, on-line, real-time measurement of hepatitis B surface antigen using a surface plasmon resonance biosensor. We immobilized anti­HBsAg (hepatitis B surface antigen) polyclonal antibody, as a ligand, to the dextran layer on a CM5 chip surface that had previously been activated by N-hydroxysuccinimide. A sample solution containing HBsAg was fed through a microfluidic channel, and the reflecting angle change due to the mass increase from the binding was detected. The binding characteristics between HBsAg and its polyclonal antibody followed the typical monolayer adsorption isotherm. When the entire immobilized antibody had interacted, no additional, non-specific binding occurred, suggesting the immunoreaction was very specific. The bound antigen per unit mass of the antibody was independent of the immobilized ligand density. No significant steric hindrance was observed at an immobilization density of approximately $17.6 ng/mm^2$. The relationship between the HBsAg concentration in the sample solution and the antigen bound to the ligand was linear up to ca. $40{\mu}g$/mL. This linearity was much higher than that of the ELISA method. It appeared the anti­gen-antibody binding increased as the immobilized ligand density increased. In summary, this study showed the potential of this SPR biosensor-based method as a rapid, simple and multi­sample on-line assay. Once properly validated, it may serve as a more efficient method for HBsAg quantification for replacing the ELISA.

1-Nitroso-2-naphthol 침전제를 사용한 연속흐름 선농축법에 의한 코발트의 정량분석 (Quantitative Analysis of Cobalt with Continuous Flow Preconcentration Using 1-Nitroso-2-naphthol as an Organic Precipitant)

  • 본연구에서 유기 침전제를 사용하여 수용액중의 코발트를 on-line으로 연속 침전시켜 선농축하는 방법을 연구하였다. 침전제로 1-nitroso-2-naphthol을 사용하여 라인내에서 직접 침전시킨 뒤 MlBK(Methyl lsobutyl Ketone)로 용해시켜 불꽃 원자흡수 분광기로 보내어 분석하였다. 최적조건을 구하고 농축배율을 연구한 결과 대개 0.5 ppm의 코발트 시료 1.0 mL를 사용하였을 때 13배의 농축율을 얻었으며 시료 처리 속도는 시간당 I0개 정도 이었다. 부피를 10.0 mL로 증가시키면 시료의 처리속도는 늦어지지만 농축비를 68배로 높일 수 있었다. 본 연구의 정확성을 알기 위해 합성된 준 표준 생체시료를 분석한 결과 4%의 상대 표준편차를 가지고 예상치에 근접하는 좋은 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

ICP-AES에 의한 수중의 금속 산화물 직접분석을 위한 연속흐름 Microwave 용해장치 개발 연구 (The Development of Continuous Flow Method Through Microwave Oven for the Analysis of Metal Oxides in Water by ICP-AES)

  • 수중의 금속 산화물을 신속하고 간단하게 용해시킬 수 있는 연속흐름 마이크로파 용해장치를 개발하였다. 이로서 금속 산화물 입자를 용해시킴과 동시에 유도결합 플라즈마 분광기(ICP-AES)를 이용하여 ON-LINE으로 분석하는 완전 자동화 분석 장치의 개발이 가능토록 하였다. 연속흐름 마이크로파 용해장치는 개방형 튜브 장치와 억제형 튜브 장치로 구분하여 제작하고 최적화 시험을 수행하였다. 개방형 튜브 용해장치의 최적조건은 튜브길이가 30m, 마이크로파 출력 20%, 염산 농도 0.6N, 유속은 3.5ml/min였으며, 억제형 튜브 용해장치는 튜브 길이가 7.2m, 마이크로파 출력 30%, 염산 농도 0.6N, 유속은 3.1ml/min였다. 억제형 튜브 용해장치가 개방형 장치에 비하여 용해시간이 3배 정도 단축되었고 용해시킬 수 있는 시료의 농도 범위도 10배 정도 높았다. 제작된 용해장치의 정밀도는 베치식 용기 용해법과 거의 유사한 결과를 나타내어 Fe, Cu는 5% 정도의 상대 표준 편차값을 나타내었고, Zn,Co는 10%내외로 다소 높게 나타났다.

실리카 기반 컬럼의 세척, 재생 및 보관 가이드 (Column cleaning, regeneration and storage of silica-based columns)

  • This article provides comprehensive guidance on the maintenance, cleaning, regeneration, and storage of silica-based HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) columns. The general considerations emphasize the importance of using in-line filters and guard cartridges to protect columns from blockage and irreversible sample adsorption. While these measures help, contamination by strongly adsorbed sample components can still occur over time, leading to an increase in back pressure, loss of efficiency, and other issues. To maximize column lifetime, especially with UHPLC (Ultra-High Performance Liquid Chromatography) columns, it is advisable to use ultra-pure solvents, freshly prepared aqueous mobile phases, and to filter all samples, standards, and mobile phases. Additionally, an in-line filter system and sample clean-up on dirty samples are recommended. However, in cases of irreversible compound adsorption or column voiding, regeneration may not be possible. The document also provides specific recommendations for column cleaning procedures, including the flushing procedures for various types of columns such as reversed phase, unbonded silica, bonded normal phase, anion exchange, cation exchange, and size exclusion columns for proteins. The flushing procedures involve using specific solvents in a series to clean and regenerate the columns. It is emphasized that the flow rate during flushing should not exceed the specified limit for the particular column, and the last solvent used should be compatible with the mobile phase. Characteristics of MnxSi1-xTe Compound Studied by Electron Magnetic Resonance and Other Experiments

  • The magnetic and other physical characteristics of $Mn_xSi_{1-x}Te$ have been investigated by electron magnetic resonance (EMR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and other experiments. $Mn_xSi_{1-x}Te$ is found to have corundum structure for manganese contents up to 10% and also to be ferromagnetic for temperatures below 80 K. While ferromagnetic resonance signal coexists with the usual paramagnetic resonance signal, invariance of the g-factor inferred from the electron paramagnetic resonance signals throughout all temperature ranges clearly confirms that the manganese ions are in the electronic 3d5 state. The temperature dependence of EMR line-width is the same as other diluted magnetic semiconductors. From the EMR signals relaxation times $T_2$ and $T_1$ of $Mn_xSi_{1-x}Te$ compounds are estimated to be about $4.4{\times}10^{-10}s$ and $9.3{\times}10^{-8}s$ respectively and are found to vary slightly with temperature or composition change. Exchange narrowing of the EMR line-width becomes dominant for the sample in which the substitution ratio, x = 30%. For one sample, in which x = 0.5%, spin glass-like behavior is indicated by EMR signals for temperatures lower than 60 K. This behavior may authentic for samples within a certain range of x.

  • On the other hand, the fiber orientation at the surface and middle layer of the sheet controls the bending stiffness of paperboard. Therefore, a reliable measurement of paper surface fiber orientation gives us a magnificent tool to investigate and predict paper curling and cockling tendency, and provides the necessary information to fine-tune the manufacturing process for optimum quality. Many papers, especially heavily calendered and coated grades, do resist liquid and gas penetration very much, being beyond the measurement range of the traditional instruments or resulting inconveniently long measuring time per sample. The increased surface hardness and use of filler minerals and mechanical pulp make a reliable, non-leaking sample contact to the measurement head a challenge of its own. Paper surface coating causes, as expected, a layer which has completely different permeability characteristics compared to the other layers of the sheet. The latest developments in sensor technologies have made it possible to reliably measure gas flow n well controlled conditions, allowing us to investigate the gas penetration of open structures, such as cigarette paper, tissue or sack paper, and in the low permeability range analyze even fully greaseproof papers, silicon papers, heavily coated papers and boards or even detect defects in barrier coatings! Even nitrogen or helium may be used as the gas, giving us completely new possibilities to rank the products or to find correlation to critical process or converting parameters. All the modern paper machines include many on-line measuring instruments which are used to give the necessary information for automatic process control systems. Hence, the reliability of this information obtained from different sensors is vital for good optimizing and process stability. If any of these on-line sensors do not operate perfectly as planned (having even small measurement error or malfunction), the process control will set the machine to operate away from the optimum, resulting loss of profit or eventual problems in quality or runnability. To assure optimum operation of the paper machines, a novel quality assurance policy for the on-line measurements has been developed, including control procedures utilizing traceable, accredited standards for the best reliability and performance.

구면 지표에서 경사촬영을 이용한 위성 영상기의 고도 저하 성능 보정 (Performance Compensation of the Satellite Imager below Normal Altitude Using Line-Of-Sight Tilt over Spherical Earth Surface)

  • 구면 지표 위를 비행하는 위성 영상기의 경사 촬영에 대한 공간 해상도 특성을 분석하고, Time Delay and Integration(TDI) 기법을 사용하는 위성 영상기의 고도가 정상 운영 범위 이하로 저하되었을 때 TDI 불일치로 발생하는 기하 성능 저하를 구면 지표에 대한 경사 촬영으로 보정하였다. 영상기의 시선 방향을 서로 독립적인 두 방향의 각들로 정의하여 구면 지표상의 임의의 관측 점에 대한 경사 촬영 특성을 분석하였고, 임의의 2차원 방향 경사 촬영으로 TDI 영상기의 고도 저하에 대해 성능 보정이 가능함을 해석적으로 보였다. 성능 보정은 TDI 재일치를 통해 Modulation Transfer Function(MTF) 감소 없이 약간의 지상화소거리 증가로 이루어졌다. 연구 결과로 고도 저하 성능 보정을 위한 2차원 경사 촬영의 효과적 방법을 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 고도 저하에 대한 해결책은 TDI 위성 영상기의 실제 운영에 있어서 임무 수행 보장 및 유연성에 도움이 될 수 있으리라 기대한다.
