An Effect Analysis for Productivity Elevation by the System Improvement (시스템 개선에 의한 생산성 향상 효과 분석)

  • The goal of this study is to analyze an effect of productivity elevation. For the goal, the various methods of the productivity elevation were suggested and the system improvements were conducted. The S company was established in Ban-Wol Industrial Complex, Ansan-City, Kyonggi-Do on 2007. The company was hiring 22 employees. The main manufactures were heavy duty equipment parts and the amount of sale was two billion won on 2008. Problems which the company faced were ambiguous production target management and materials loss. To solve the problems, NCT work improvement and automatic welding were induced. There were steel saving of 3,780,000won/month and man-hour saving of 144,000won/month by redesign of the steel sheet for the NCT steel job. Also, changing from handwork to automatic welding, the man-hour saving for the welding job was 320M/H and saving of 4,225,600won/month. The others of systematic improvement for productivity elevation were usage of jig and daily equipment checklist.

  • A SIL(Safety Integrity Level) assignment method is used for preventing failure action. The goal of safety system for processing automation is to reduce the human fatal risk. Even if we have developed the processing automation according to developing technology, we are also realized on increasing the human fatal risk cause of unexpected accidents. This study is directed the solution of decision for safety level for safety system and the best architecture for safety system in process automation.

  • In this paper we present a safety plan to be applied to the development of the TCS(Train Control System). The safety plan that can be applied to the life cycle of a system, from the conceptual design to the dismantlement, shows the whole process of the paper work in detail through the establishment of a goal, analysis and assessment, the verification. In this paper we study about the making a plan, the preliminary hazard analysis, the hazard identification and analysis to guarantee the safety of the TCS. The process far the verification of the system safety is divided into several steps based on the target system and the approaching method. The guarantee of the system safety and the improvement of the system reliability is fellowed by the recommendation of the international standards.

  • The main purpose of the study is to reduce the accident death rate in the construction industry. To achieve this goal, the safety planning tasks were analyzed and assessed in terms of the importance and preventive effects of the tasks. Through the extensive literature reviews, the safety planning tasks were identified and reviewed by safety managers. Based on the data collected, a survey was conducted in order to receive responses by experts with knowledge on the effects and importance of preventive measures for safety. Then, the IPA method was employed to identify the safety manager's tasks that have an effect on performance indicators. The effective safety tasks identified are expected to have a critical role in reducing the accident death rate in the construction industry.

  • In past projects, the main goal has been to enhance efficiency by reducing cost and time. However, considering the current condition of safety management in many construction companies, it can be confirmed that safety management has not been a top priority for a long time. Current safety management, which is based on safety standards and rules, is very ineffective and only emphasizes management after an incident. As well, although fewer accidents occur compared to the past, because construction projects are increasingly large in scale and complex, these accidents tend to be more serious and involve greater monetary loss. Furthermore, as the severity of these accidents increases, so does the possibility of fatalities. Therefore, improving safety management is essential. This study proposes an effective program for safety management, focusing on the processes to connect studies and systems, and the basic techniques required for program development. To realize this program, technical tools are suggested, including systems such as BIM (Building Information Modeling); additionally, the coordination of other systems such as an RTLS, a server, and an alarm system is proposed.

An Effect of Safety Leadership Coaching Program on Safety Behaviors of Construction Workers: Based on Behavior Based Safety (안전 리더십 코칭 프로그램이 건설 현장 근로자들의 안전 행동에 미치는 효과 : 행동기반 안전관리(Behavior Based Safety: BBS)를 중심으로)

  • This study examined the effect of safety leadership coaching program on managers' safety management and workers' safety behaviors in construction site. Three or four managers and about one hundred workers at each site participated in this study. Safety leadership coaching program consisted of safety leadership education, goal setting, self-monitoring and feedback on workers' safety behavior, reward for three safety management behaviors; (1) safety observations of workers safety behavior and (2) providing positive feedback on safe behavior (3) providing corrective feedback on risk behavior and daily safety education for workers. Dependent variables were the percentage of safe behaviors of workers and frequency of managers' safety management behaviors. A nonconcurrent AB multiple baseline design across settings was adopted. After baseline(A), safety leadership coaching program (B) was introduced to each site. The results showed that safety leadership coaching program was effective to increase managers' and workers' safety behaviors. These results suggest that safety leadership coaching program developed in this study would be an alternative treatment technique to improve construction safety management. In addition, the implications, limitations of this study, and future studies are discussed.

Accordingly, in order to promote the details of the final challenge of providing real-time information and the usefulness of this information collection is clearly for the railway sector by function of the components is necessary to distinguish. In this paper, the details of the plan goals, promoting convenient rail-based real-time information, to promote optimal gohyoeuleul railways, railway safety and comfort, was defined as three. Selection of each goal, because the direction of vision and ITS around the railroad center of road users by highlighting the benefits of the railroad's traffic information center user switching, real-time delivery of information diversity (enhanced content) that can increase the capacity of line train operating systems, enhancing the safety management system introduced in the monitoring system and is a railroad crossing. Because urban railway project in accordance with the goal of decreasing the annual rate of the train support, and the average passenger wait time savings, increased future demand for railway, rail safety, including securing the expected effects may occur.

Analysis of Rock Slope Stability by Using GIS in Mt. Keumsu Area (지구정보시스템을 이용한 금수산일대의 암반사면 안정성 평가)

  • The goal of this study is to assess the spatial distribution of natural slopes and cutting slopes under would-be development. For this goal, a quantitative slope stability analysis method using GIS integrated with a computer program was developed. Through field investigations, the discontinuity parameters were collected such as orientation of discontinuity, persistence, spacing, JRC, JCS, and water depth. The distributions were interpolated from the ordinary kriging method in ARC/INFO GIS after variogram analysis. The layers showing all parameters needed for limit equilibrium analysis were constructed. The final layer using GIS works composed of 162,352 polygons, that is, unit slopes. The rock slope stability analysis program was coded by C++ language. This program can calculate geometrical vectors related to rock block failures using input orientation data and direction and dimension of strength to occur failure. Also, this can calculate shear strength of joints through empirical equations and quantitative factors of safety. This methodology was applied to the study area which is located in Jaecheon city and Danyang-gun of the northeastern Keumsu is about 135$km^2$. As a result, the study area was entirely stable but unstable, that is, factor of safety less than 1.0dominantly at the slopes near Keumsil, Daejangri, Keumsungmyun and Sojugol, Mt. Dongsan, Juksongmyun by the natural slope stability analysis. Assuming the cutting slope showing the same direction immediate, and quantitative analysis of factors of safety for a regional area could be conducted through GIS integrated with a computer program of limit equilibrium.

  • It is important to safety culture in railway industry because they variously refer to the safety-related values, attitudes, beliefs, risk perceptions and behaviours of railway employees. So this study tried to figure out the assessment criteria for safety culture at Korean National Railway. For the achieve the goal, we have the literature review, some assessment criteria have been founded by intensively comparing safety culture questionnaires in other industries to establish domestic railway safety. This study expects Korean railways to become a well-organized that as assessing safety culture with reasonable criteria or requirements.
