Effect on Flow Boiling Heat Transfer of Minichannel Diameter for R-410A (R-410A 비등열전달에 미치는 미세관경의 영향)

  • Two-phase flow boiling heat transfer of R-410A in horizontal small tubes was reported in the present experimental study. The local heat transfer coefficients were obtained over a heat flux range of 5 to 40 kW/$m^2$ a mass flux range of 170 to 600 kg/$m^2s$, a saturation temperature range of 3 to $10^{\circ}C$, and quality up to 1.0. The test section was made of stainless steel tubes with inner diameters of 0.5 and 3.0 mm, and lengths of 330 and 3000 mm, respectively. The test section was heated uniformly by applying a direct electric current to the tubes. The effects on heat transfer of mass flux, heat flux, inner tube diameter, and saturation temperature were presented. The experimental heat transfer coefficients are compared with six existing heat transfer coefficient correlations. A new boiling heat transfer coefficients correlation based on the superposition model for R-410A in small tubes was developed with mean deviation of 10.13%.

Mesh selectivity of gill net for female Japanese sandfish (Arctoscopus japonicus) in spawning season (산란기 도루묵(Arctoscopus japonicus) 암컷의 자망에 대한 망목선택성)

  • The mesh selectivity of gill net for Japanese sandfish (Arctoscopus japonicus) caught in the East Sea, Korea was described. The experiment was conducted with five different kinds of mesh size (39.4, 45.5, 51.5, 53.0, 57.6mm) between November and December 2006 in spawning season. The catch was mostly Japanese sandfish (93.3%) and some others (6.7%), and almost all of the female Japanese sandfish were larger than the fork length at 50% maturity (16.7cm). The selection curve for the female Japanese sandfish caught from the experiments was fitted by the Kitahara's method to a polynomial equation which was $s(R)={\exp}\{(0.2584R^3-5.3445R^2+32.269R-59.868)-0.6585\}$ where R=l/m, and l and m are fork length and mesh size, respectively.

Effect of the Disinfectants on Microbes Changes in Piggery Slurry (가축방역용 소독제 처리가 액비내 미생물 변화에 미치는 영향)

  • The disinfectants are important to prevention of infectious diseases for livestock and have been used widespreadly in recent years. This study was conducted to determine the effect of the disinfectants on microorganisms with reference to disinfectants concentration and application period in piggery slurry. As material, chemically different four disinfectants were used and no disinfectant, as control. These four disinfectants were Acids, Basic, Aldehydes and Alkalis, respectively. The characteristics pH, moisture content and organic matter of the piggery slurry used in this study were 8.2, $98.6\%,\;0.4\%$, respectively. The initial total microorganisms of piggery slurry were $6.3\times10^5$ cfu/ml, and Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus were $1.2\times10^4,\;4.1\times10^4,\;1.7\times10^4 cfu/ml,$ respectively. The disinfectants were applied at $100\%,\;200\%\;and\;300\%$ concentrations on the piggery slurry surface. It was determined that the effect of disinfectants varied accordance to concentration and application time. The most sensitive microorganisms were Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, while Bacillus cereus was found to be durable. As a result of this study, the microorganinsms of the piggery slurry are on the decrease by all disinfectants during 2 weeks, but showed a tendency to increase in number after that time. Accordingly, the microorganisms which are concerned in the liquid composting of piggery slurry were not affected by the disinfectant after 2 weeks.

  • This experiment was conducted to find appropriate media in hydroponic Culture of Angelica keiskei. The mediaused were carbonized rice hull, perlite, vermiculite, mixture(carbonized rice hull (1) : perlite (1) : peatmoss (1)), mixture+peatmoss20%, mixture+peatmoss40%, mixtrue+peatmoss60%, perlite 40%+peatmoss40%+vermiculite20% and open field cultivation. The highest yield of Angeli ca keiskei was shown 4,428ka/10a at vermiculite. The yield of vermiculite was increased about 133 percent compared to that of open field cultivation. The highest germanium contents was shown 0.52ppm at mixture+peatmoss 40%. The contents of germanium increased about 108 percent at mixture+peatmoss40% compared to that of open field cultivation.

Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships in MAO-Inhibitor~' 2-Phenylcyclopropylarnines: Insights into the Topography of MAO-A and MAO-B

  • Ten (E)-and (Z)-isomers of 2-phenylcyclopropylamine (PCA), 1-Me PCA, 2-Me-PCA, N-Me-PCA, and N, N-diMe PCA and fifteen o-. m-, p- isomers of (E) PCA with substituents of Me, Cl, F, OMe, OH were synthesized in this laboratory and tested for the inhibition of rat brain mitochondrial MAO-A and MAO-B. The effects of substituents, their positions, and stereochemistry on the inhibition were assessed for the compounds with substituents at cyclopropyl and amino groups and QSAR analyses were performed using the potency data of ring-substituted compounds. The best correlated QSAR equations are as follows : pI$_{50}$ = 0.804 $\pi^2$-0.834 Blo-1.069 Blm + 0.334 Lp-1.709 HDp +7.897 (r = 0.945, s =0.211, F = 16.691, p = 0.000) for the inhibition of MAO-A;PI$_{50}$= 1.815$\pi$-0.825 $\pi^2$-1.203R + 0.900 Es$^2$ + 0.869 Es$^3$ + 0.796 Es$^4$-0.992 HDp + 0.562 HAo + 3.893 (r = 0.982, s =0.178, F = 23.351, p = 0.000) for the inhibition of MAO-B. Based on the potency difference between stereoisomers of cyclopropylamine-modified compounds and an QSAR cavity near para position, two hydrophobic carities interacting with Me group, a hydrophobic site near para position, and an amino group binding site and that in addition to the same two hydrophotic cavities, hydrophotic area, steric boundaries, hydrogen-acceptor site, and amino group binding site, another steric boundary near para position and a hydrogen donating site near ortho position constitute active sites of MAO-B.

  • The Bacillus KU801 strain, due to its potential in the field of probiotics for animal use, was isolated from chicken feces. Strain KU801 was identified as Bacillus amyloliquefaciens KU801 based on the results of 16S rRNA sequencing. Vegetative and spore cells of B. amyloliquefaciens KU801 were resistant to artificial gastric juice and artificial bile acid. B. amyloliquefaciens KU801 was found to inhibit the production of nitric oxide (NO) and increase the production of Interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1${\alpha}$). DNA damage induced by N-methyl-Ntion of ninitroso-guanidine (MNNG) was significantly inhibited, in a dose dependent manner, by preincubating MNNG together with B. amyloliquefaciens KU801. These results demonstrate the potential use of B. amyloliquefaciens KU801 as a feed additive.

A Field Survey on Concentration of Odor Compounds in Pig Buildings and Boundary Areas (돈사 내 및 부지경계에서 악취물질 발생 조사 연구)

  • A field survey was conducted to determine the concentration of odor compounds from pig buildings and that were 20 meters within the boundary area. The odor compounds were measured from large, medium and small farms with enclosed and open housing systems and slurry and sawdust manure fermentation treatment methods. Among the odor compounds investigated, ammonia ($NH_3$) had the highest concentration at 0.9 ${\~}$ 21.0 ppm followed by Hydrogen Sulfide($H_2S$) with a wide variation concentration of 51.9 ${\~}$ 6,712.4 pub, Uethylmercaptan($CH_3SH$) with non-detectable (N. D.) ${\~}$ 12.9 ppb, Dimethylsulphide($(CH_3)_2S$), with N. D. ${\~}$ 5.2 ppb and Dimethyldisulphide($(CH_3)_2S_2$) with N. D. ${\~}$ 2.6 ppb. Considering the prevailing wind direction and air velocity ranging from 0.23 to 0.73 m/s within the boundary area, the odorous matters; $NH_3$, $H_2S$, $CH_3SH$, $(CH_3)_2S_2$ and $(CH_3)_2S$ were 0.2${\~}$4.5 ppm, 0.01 ${\~}$0.06 ppb, N. D. ${\~}$0.009ppb, N. D.${\~}$0.002ppb and N. D. for $(CH_3)_2S$ respectively. These findings suggested that the Odor compounds $(CH_3)_2S_2$ had the lower detection in the boundary area whilst $(CH_3)_2S$ had no detection level within a 20-meter distance only. However, with these results odor compounds from pig buildings has to be further investigated under more controlled environmental factors.

  • P $b_2$S $r_2$( $Y_{1-x}$ C $a_{x}$)C $u_3$ $O_{8+}$$\delta$/ samples were prepared with x=0.4~0.6 and small $\delta$. To minimize the extent of oxidative decomposition reaction which occurs during the preparation of this phase, two annealing steps were adopted : First, sintered samples of P $b_2$S $r_2$( $Y_{1-x}$ C $a_{x}$)C $u_3$ $O_{8+}$$\delta$/ are oxygenated under 100% $O_2$, which leads to a large $\delta$(e.g., $\delta$=1.8). Second, the resulting samples are deoxygenated under 0.1~1.0% $O_2$in $N_2$, lowering $\delta$ to desired values. This two-step annealing procedure minimized the extent of oxidative decomposition. However, even with the two-step annealing procedure, the oxidative decomposition of P $b_2$S $r_2$( $Y_{1-x}$ C $a_{x}$)C $u_3$ $O_{8+}$$\delta$/ cannot be completely suppressed if $\delta$ is to be reduced to maximize $T_{c}$. Electrical resistivity data show that $T_{c}$(onset) is a function of hole concentration in the Cu $O_2$layer, and the optimum hole concentration for the maximum $T_{c}$ is achieved when $Ca^{2+}$is substituted for $Y^{3+}$between 0.5 and 0.6 A $T_{c}$(onset)=80K has been observed for one such sample, and this is the highest $T_{c}$(onset) yet reported for this compound.ed for this compound.nd.

Antigenicity Study of CFA-001, cefazolin, a cephalosperin Derivative Produced by an :Enzymatic Semisynthesis

  • The antigenic potential of CFA-001, cefazolin, a cephalosporin derivative produced by an enzy-matic semisynthesis, was determined in Hartley guinea pigs. A battery of tests employed consisted of active systemic anaphylaxis (ASA), passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA), and indirect hemagglutination test (IHA). The results were as follows: 1) In ASA, no signs attributable to anaphylaxis was observed in guinea pigs sensitized with CFA-001, whereas OVA-sensitized animals induced severe anaphylactic symptoms; 2) guinea pigs did not produce antibodies against CFA-001 when sensitized with or without Freund's complete adjuvant (FCA) in homologous PCA tests. Meanwhile, antibodies against ovalbumin (OVA) were clearly detected; 3) No CFA-001-specific hemagglutination was observed in the IHA using sera obtained from CFA-001- sensitized guinea pigs. These results suggest that CFA-001 has no antigenicity potential in guinea pigs.

  • The complex [Zn(L)₂(H₂O)₄] (1) (L = isonicotinate) has been prepared and characterized by X-ray crystallography. Compound 1 crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1, with a = 6.9062(4) , b = 9.2618(7) , c = 6.3313(3) , α = 104.986(6)°, β = 112.865(4)°, γ = 96.213(6)°, V = 350.41(4) , Z = 1, R₁(wR₂) for 1225 observed reflections of [I > 2σ(I)] was 0.0209 (0.0591). The coordination environment of the zinc atom can be described as an octahedron in which the isonicotinato ligands are mutually trans. Compound 1 is also connected into a two-dimensional chain via hydrogen-bonds.
