  • Purpose - This study focused on the effect of mobile app information system quality on re-use intention in the medical service trade, and examined how the Chinese, currently the main consumer of Korea's medical service trade, obtained information through mobile apps, and the status of satisfaction felt by experiencing medical services. Design/methodology - The survey period was from November 2018 to January 2019, and was conducted on Chinese who voluntarily experienced medical services. The collected data verified causality of the study model through the statistical program, SPSS.24. The results showed that the most popular medical institution through the medical service mobile app is dermatology, and the quality of the app's information system plays a mediating role in influencing re-use intention. Findings - Overall, the current trade in medical services is first accessed and acquired through mobile apps, and as a result, consumers revisit medical institutions according to the reliability of information. Comments and likes, another new form of the word of mouth that has greatly influenced revisiting in the past, are seen to be spreading through the app's medical information. Originality/value - The previous market for the medical services trade was formed by very conservative word of mouth, but now we believe that the app's information system actively influences the revisit effect. This means that apps can be used in diverse areas in the medical service trade market. In addition, the medical service market needs to further develop a mobile app environment that can reflect consumers' diverse needs, behaviors, and culture from time to time in order to revitalize the service trade. Such an app environment development will have tremendous promotional effects on the trade market and provide directions for expanding trade in medical services.

  • One of the major requisites for the success of the smart-TV is to create a circumstance where smart-TV app's are produced and purchased on a large scale. However, the smart TV app's may succeed only under the condition that the user interface of the smart TV is greatly evolved from the typical TV remote controller. Several equipments have been devised to tackle the problem of the poor user interface of the smart-TV; however, they are not satisfactory in the aspects that they usually increase the costs of TV-set and they do not help practically the app developers. The equipments are pre formed so that it is hard for the app developers to design their own user interface using them. In the paper, sMartUX, a method for developing the smart-TV app is introduced. sMartUX provides a new paradigm and development environment for designing, implementing, and operating the user interface of the smart TV app using a smart-phone. With sMartUX, app developers can design their own user interface using the various facilities of a smart-phone, and they need not to care the details of various smart-phones and how to launch their user interface onto a smart-phone.

APP Tail 1 (PAT1) Interacts with Kinesin Light Chains (KLCs) through the Tetratricopeptide Repeat (TPR) Domain (APP tail 1 (PAT1)과 kinesin light chains (KLCs)의 tetratricopeptide repeat (TPR) domain을 통한 결합)

  • A conventional kinesin, KIF5/Kinesin-I, transports various cargoes along the microtubule through interaction between its light chain subunit and the cargoes. Kinesin light chains (KLCs) interact with many different cargoes using their tetratricopeptide repeat (TPR) domain, but the mechanism underlying recognition and binding of a specific cargo has not yet been completely elucidated. We used the yeast two-hybrid assay to identify proteins that interact with the TPR domain of KLC1. We found an interaction between the TPR domain of KLC1 and an amyloid precursor protein (APP)-binding protein PAT1 (protein interacting with APP tail 1). The yeast two-hybrid assay demonstrated that the TPR domain-containing region of KLC1 mediated binding to the C-terminal tail region of PAT1. PAT1 also bound to KLC2 but not to kinesin heavy chains (KIF5A, KIF5B, and KIF5C) in the yeast two-hybrid assay. These protein-protein interactions were also observed in the glutathione S-transferase (GST) pull-down assay and by co-immunoprecipitation. Anti-PAT1 antibody as well as anti-APP anti-body co-immunoprecipitated KLC and KHCs associated with PAT1 from mouse brain extracts. These results suggest that PAT1 could mediate interactions between Kinesin-I and APP containing vesicles.

  • The recent evolution of mobile devices and services have resulted in such plethora of mobile applications (apps) that users have difficulty finding the ones they wish to use in a given moment. We design an app recommendation system which predicts the app to be executed with high accuracy so that users are able to access their next app conveniently and quickly. We introduce the App-Usage Tracking Feature (ATF), a simple but powerful feature for predicting next app launches, which characterizes each app use from the sequence of previously used apps. In addition, our method can be implemented without compromising the user privacy since it is solely trained on the target user's mobile usage data and it can be conveniently implemented in the individual mobile device because of its less computation-intensive behavior. We provide a comprehensive empirical analysis of the performance and characteristics of our proposed method on real-world mobile usage data. We also demonstrate that our system can accurately predict the next app launches and outperforms the baseline methods such as the most frequently used apps (MFU) and the most recently used apps (MRU).

  • This study is to develop a basic life support (BLS) app using the android based smartphone and to evaluate the function of the app. Suggested app contains chest compression feedback function, the map of automated external defibrillator (AED), direct emergency call and the basic knowledge of BLS. Using the accelerometer of the smartphone, we implemented a real-time algorithm that estimates the chest compression depth and rate for high quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The accuracy of algorithm was evaluated by manikin experiment. We made contents which were easy to learn the BLS for the layperson and implemented a function that provides the AED location information based on the user's current location. From the manikin experiment, the chest compression depth and rate were no significant differences between the manikin data and the app's feedback data (p > 0.05). Developed BLS app was uploaded on Google Play Store and it was free to download. We expected that this app is useful to learn the BLS for the layperson.

  • Alzheimer's disease (AD) is neurodegenerative disease, characterized by the progressive decline of memory, cognitive functions, and changes in personality. The major pathological features in postmortem brains are neurofibrillary tangles and amyloid beta ($A{\beta}$) deposits. The majority of AD cases are sporadic and age-related. Although AD pathogenesis has not been established, aging and declining mitochondrial function has been associated. Mitochondrial dysfunction has been observed in AD patients' brains and AD mice models, and the mice with a genetic defect in mitochondrial complex I showed enhanced $A{\beta}$ level in vivo. To elucidate the role of mitochondrial complex I in AD, we used SH-SY5Y cells transfected with DNA constructs expressing human amyloid precursor protein (APP) or human Swedish APP mutant (APP-swe). The expression of APP-swe increased the level of $A{\beta}$ protein in comparison with control. When complex I was inhibited by rotenone, the increase of ROS level was remarkably higher in the cells overexpressing APP-swe compared to control. The number of dead cell was significantly increased in APP-swe-expressing cells by complex I inhibition. We suggest that complex I dysfunction accelerate amyloid toxicity and mitochondrial complex I dysfunction in aging may contribute to the pathogenesis of sporadic AD.
