  • In this paper, we propose a classification model based on convolutional neural network(CNN) for predicting 2-year recurrence in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) patients using preoperative chest CT images. Based on the region of interest(ROI) defined as the tumor internal and external area, the input images consist of an intratumoral patch, a peritumoral patch and a peritumoral texture patch focusing on the texture information of the peritumoral patch. Each patch is trained through AlexNet pretrained on ImageNet to explore the usefulness and performance of various patches. Additionally, ensemble learning of network trained with each patch analyzes the performance of different patch combination. Compared with all results, the ensemble model with intratumoral and peritumoral patches achieved the best performance (ACC=98.28%, Sensitivity=100%, NPV=100%).

  • Annual production and redistribution of leaf litter were compared among three distinct understory patches in a temperate hardwood forest dominated by Quercus mongolica, Kalopanax pictus, Acer pseudo-sieboldianum, and Carpinus cordata. Two patches were located on a southwest-facing slope: one with an understory dominated by herbaceous plants (Patch S), and the other covered with evergreen dwarf bamboo, Sasa borealis (patch SS). The third patch was on the opposite slope with an understory dominated by herbaceous plants (Patch N). Annual leaf litterfall was averaged 330 g m$^{-2} yr$^{-2}$ in the three patches from 1994 to 1998. From mid-September 1996 to mid-September 1997, net transport of leaf litter over patch bound-aries was 1,824g m$^{-1}$ from Patch S to SS, 1,465g m$^{-1}$ from Patch S to N, and 886 g m$^{-1}$ from Patch SS to N. The amounts moving downslope out of Patch S, SS, and N were 2,548, 471, and 588g m$^{-1}$, respectively. When a mass balance approach was employed for the data of leaf litter transport, the results were relatively consistent with 216, 631, and 724g m$^{-2}$ of leaf litter stores in Patch S, SS, and N, respectively, in April 1997. This study suggests that leaf litter redistribution is largely regulated by aspect and understory type and exerts a significant effect on carbon processes in the forest ecosystem.

  • A S / X dual broad band patch antenna with shared aperture structure is fabricated. A $2{\times}2$ perforated patch is used for S-band operation and a $2{\times}2$ patch antenna array is integrated in the $2{\times}2$ perforation for X-band operation. The measurement results of a S / X dual broad band patch antenna with shared aperture structure show the broad band characteristics larger than 20 % in both bands.

  • Scopolamine patch is an effective anticholinergic and antiemetic agent for motion sickness in S. Korea. Since this medication is Over The Counter (OTC) medication and may cause serious side effects when misused. Therefore, we evaluate the safety and efficacy for scopolamine patch in this study. We selected and surveyed total 43 patients who purchased scopolamine patch from three different pharmacies located at S and C Express Bus terminals and P Port at Seoul, Cheongju, and Busan. In the result, 11 patients (8${\sim}$15 year old:25.6%) were correctly used scopolamine patch with a children dose and 2 patients were misused. 26 (15${\sim}$60 year old: 60.4%) and 4 (over 6o year old: 9.3%) patients were correctly used with a adult dose. 33 patients (69.9%)answered that they knew the directions well how to use scopolamine patch correctly. Only 24.2% (n=8) patients learned the directions by pharmacist's consultation. Most patients (45 frequencies with duplicate counts) had some experienced side effects and among those drowsiness is the most common one. In conclusion, scopolamine patch as a non-prescription drug (OTC) should be monitored by pharmacist with correct drug consultation.

  • In this paper, the patch antenna for 2.64GHz S-DMB applications has been studied. The patch antenna was designed by HFSS (High Frequency Structural Simulator) program and the optimized antenna was fabricated using photolithography method on the FR-4 substrate. To find optimal conditions of microstrip patch antenna, design parameters with different patch size, length of feedline and metal thickness were analyzed.

  • Transport of colored papers and decomposition of leaf litter of Quercus mongolica, Acer pseudo-sieboldianum, and Kalopanax pictus were investigated on three patches differentiated by aspect and understory in a temperate hardwood forest. Two patches are represented by dwarf bamboo (Patch SS) and herbaceous plants (Patch S), respectively, Iying on a south-west-facing slope. The other patch (Patch N) is located on a northeastfacing slope with herbaceous plants. Colored papers were placed on the patches to understand the pattern of litter movement on the ground. Papers were move dispersed in Patch S than in the other two patches. Some of the colored papers placed in Patch S moved upward. The results suggest that the litter movement is affected by aspect and that the leaf litter is retained by dwarf bamboo in Patch SS. Decay constant of Q. mongolica was significantly (p<0.05) lower than those of K. pictus and A. pseudo-sieboldianum. Decay rates of Q. mongolica were significantly different between Patches N and S and between Patches SS and S (p<0.05). On the other hand, decay rates of the other species were not significantly different among the three patches. The results suggest that aspect and understory exert an influence on redistribution and decomposition of leaf litter and that the effects could be different among the plant species.

  • In this paper, we have designed and fabricated microstrip antenna of S-band for the wireless LAN and the ISM. It array $2{\times}2$ circular patch antenna elements at plane instead of conventional rectangular patch antenna elements. It optimized to size calculated of single patch antenna. The radiation elements distance is array $0.24{\lambda}$. The fabricated circular patch antenna decreased 8% of size compared to the conventional rectangular patch antenna. In the E-plane, designed circular microstrip patch $2{\times}2$ array antenna gain is 12.7[dBi], half power beam width is $40^{\circ}$ and in the H-plane, antenna gain is 12.1[dBi], half power beam width is $45^{\circ}$. Bandwidth is 250[MHz] (VSWR < 2).

  • Recently, a repair method by bonding patch plates is being applied to corroded steel structures. However, one of the issues of patch plate bonding repair is the brittle debonding of the patch plates. Generally, when the delamination of the patch plates occurs, the composite effect acting between the steel members and patch plates abruptly decreases. Therefore, to prevent the brittle debonding of the patch plates, a repair method combining an adhesive and stud bolts is proposed. Till date, tensile and compressive tests have been performed for the proposed method. In this study, plate bending tests were conducted to verify the effectiveness of this method under bending conditions. Furthermore, two types of epoxy resin-based adhesives were prepared to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method with different adhesive properties. The test results show that the proposed method is able to prevent the brittle debonding of the patch plates in the case of both epoxy resins.

  • The complex resonant frequency problem of a superconductor patch is formulated in terms of an integral equation which is the kernel of a dyadic Green's function. To include the effect of the superconductivity of the microstrip patch, the surface complex impedance of the superconductor film is introduced using the two fluids model of Gorter and Casimir. The Galerkin procedure is used in the resolution of the electric field integral equation. Numerical results concerning the effect of the operating temperature of a superconductor patch on the characteristics of the antenna are presented.

  • In this paper, a modified feeding structure for microstrip patch antenna is suggested for improving the performances. The proposed antenna has a gap between the transmission line and the recessed part of the radiating patch which makes a capacitive coupling. It shows higher 511(-l4dB) and lower cross polarization level(-2OdB) compare with the conventional inset ftd patch antenna while having a similar characteristics in another evaluating items. Experimental results are examined and considered to apply to the S-Band application, and the effectiveness has been confirmed by FDTD simulation and measurement simultaneously.
