We propose an adaptive histogram stretching algorithm for application to a car's personal recorder. The algorithm was used for pre-processing to detect the license plate region in an image from a personal recorder. The algorithm employs a Probability Density Function (PDF) and Cumulative Distribution Function (CDF) to analyze the distribution diagram of the images. These two functions are calculated using an image obtained by sampling at a certain pixel interval. The images were subjected to different levels of stretching, and experiments were done on the images to extract their characteristics. The results show that the proposed algorithm provides less deterioration than conventional algorithms. Moreover, contrast is enhanced according to the characteristics of the image. The algorithm could provide better performance than existing algorithms in applications for detecting search regions for license plates.
While architectural patterns provide software development solutions by providing schemas for structural organizations of software systems based on empirical knowledge, Jackson's problem frames provide a method of analyzing software problems. Problem frames are useful to understanding the software development problem, by putting emphasis on the problem domain, rather than on the solution space. Research exists that relates problem frames and software architecture, but most of this research uses problem frames only to understand given problems. Moreover, none of the existing research derives architectural patterns by considering both problem frames and quality attributes. In this paper, we propose a software architecture design method for pattern-based architecture design, by matching problem frames and architectural patterns. To that end, our approach first develops the problem model based on the problem frames approach, and then uses it to match with candidate architectural patterns, from the perspectives of both functionality, and quality attributes. Functional matching uses the problem frame diagram to match the problem model of an architectural pattern. We conduct a case study to show that our approach can systematically decide the right architectural patterns, and provide a basis for fine-grained software architecture design.
The effects of strain rate and preferential diffusion of $H_2$ on flame extinction are numerically studied in interacting premixed syngas-air flames with fuel compositions of 50% $H_2$ + 50% CO and 30% $H_2$ + 70% CO. Flame stability diagrams mapping lower and upper limit fuel concentrations at flame extinction as a function of strain rate are examined. Increasing strain rate reduces the boundaries of both flammable lean and rich fuel concentrations and produces a flammable island and subsequently even a point, implying that there exists a limit strain rate over which interacting flame cannot be sustained anymore. Even if effective Lewis numbers are slightly larger than unity on extinction boundaries, the shape of the lean extinction boundary is slanted even at low strain rate, i.e. $a_g=30s^{-1}$ and is more slanted in further increase of strain rate, implying that flame interaction on lean extinction boundary is strong and thus hydrogen (as a deficient reactant) Lewis number much less than unity plays an important role of flame interaction. It is also shown that effects of preferential diffusion of $H_2$ cause flame interaction to be stronger on lean extinction boundaries and weaker on rich extinction boundaries. Detailed analyses are made through the comparison between flame structures with and without the restriction of the diffusivities of $H_2$ and H in symmetric and asymmetric fuel compositions. The reduction of flammable fuel compositions in increase of strain rate suggests that the mechanism of flame extinction is significant conductive heat loss from the stronger flame to ambience.
In this paper, we developed an efficient virtual experiment kit with creative and interactive multimedia contents, which can be used to enhance the quality of education in the area of digital logic circuits. Since our virtual experiment kit is implemented to describe the on-campus laboratory, the learners can obtain similar experimental data through it. Also, our web-based virtual experiment kit is designed to enhance the efficiency of both the learners and the educators. The learners will be able to achieve high learning standard and the educators save time and labor. The virtual experiment is performed according to the following procedure: (1) Circuit Composition on the Bread Board (2) Applying Input Voltage (3) Output Measurements (4) Checkout of Experiment Results. Furthermore, the circuit composition on the bread board and its corresponding online schematic diagram are displayed together on the virtual experiment kit for the learner's convenience. Finally, we have obtained several affirmative effects such as reducing the total experimental hours and the damage rate for experimental equipments and increasing learning efficiencies as well as faculty productivity.

This study is to investigate the phase changes and cold workability after isothermal transformation at $780^{\circ}C$ by using the high temperature gas nitrided (HTGN) STS 430 ferritic stainless steel specimens. The phase diagram of STS 430 steel obtained by calculation showed that the phase appeared at $1100^{\circ}C$ showed as ${\alpha}+{\gamma}{\rightarrow}{\gamma}{\rightarrow}{\gamma}+Cr_2N{\rightarrow}{\gamma}+Cr_2N+CrN$ with increasing nitrogen concentration. Also, the transformation of ${\gamma}{\rightarrow}Cr_2N$ during heat treatment isothermally at $780^{\circ}C$, nitrogen pearlite with lamellar type was fully formed at the nitrogen permated surface layer for 10 hrs. However, this transformation was not completed for 1 hr, resulting nitrogen pearlite plus martensite. The cold rolled specimen of isothermally transformed at $780^{\circ}C$ for 10 hrs after high temperature gas nitriding decreased the layer thickness of nitrogen pearlite inducing the deformation of hard $Cr_2N$ phase. the dissolution rate of $Cr_2N$ phase increased rapidly with increasing cold rolling ratio. Specimens with the microstructure of nitrogen pearlite (isothermally transformed at $780^{\circ}C$ for 10 hrs) were possible to cold rolling without crack formation. However, the mixed structures of nitrogen pearlite + martensite (isothermally transformed at $780^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr) were impossible to cold deformation without cracking.

The importance of service industries is growing as the portion of the service sector increases fast in the recent decades. This research deals with service prototyping and testing in a service laboratory. While products are generally tested through prototyping in new product development processes, services are difficult to test because of the characteristic of service, intangibility. A service laboratory, named s-Scape, is the experiment environment which has been developed to test services in virtual space for the purpose of analysis and improvement of real-world services such as hospitals and automobile show rooms. In this research, we present a service prototyping tool and language to support service test in the service laboratory. We first analyze key elements of service prototypes, and then design the service prototype diagram (SPD) and the service prototype description language (SPDL). SPD, which is a variant of the service blueprint, is a graphical tool to be used to generate SPDL. SPDL is an executable language of describing a service prototype of a real-world service in extensible markup language (XML) to experiment the service environment in virtual space. SPD reflects the control and interface of virtual reality devices, as well as key elements of service modeling. SPD represents a service process in which service providers and customers interact with each other in a service scape.
Data redundancy is problematic in that it not only induces heavy storage management cost but also could bring critical degradation of information systems. Unfortunately, to our knowledge, only few enterprises willingly afford time and efforts for the faithful conceptual design to prevent the degree of inappropriate data as much as they could, while most of enterprises pay rare attention to the notion of that sort of data quality. Wondering if there would be any other way to design the enterprise.wide data design without prior knowledge about business works is our major motivation for this study. In this paper, we present our data modeling methodology in which associations among objects in each sentences of a business job descriptions are treated as the focal point in database design. A proposed agent for automated design tool simply takes a business job description written in natural language as an input, and then designs an entity relationship diagram with some smart rules. We introduce the scope of the proposed agent and its detailed logics with several examples. And then, we verify the appropriateness of the resulted associations among objects. Lastly, we perform case studies to evaluate the devised agent's applicability to a business field.
in this paper, we imlemented design pattern retrieval system for efficient managemant and reusability of design patterns. Pattern is conssisted of property information and meta information id used for similarity measurement on classification and retrieval of patterns.Meta information od used for UML modeling of patterns. We classified design patterns with the empirical scope in addition to Gamma's basic classification. also we used E-SARM for retrieval represented UML diagram with pattern meta information, and simulated the environment so as to obtain best result on applying to retrieval of design pattern. This system is able ro resister new patterns through pattern viewer and manages these patterns with property informaiton and meta information. Thus this system supports efficient management of patterns, UML modeling, priority pattern retrieval, higher reusability and reduces pattern selection cost.

In UMTS terminal modem uses 3 step search procedure for initial cell search, which comprises 1) slot synchronization, 2) code group identification and frame synchronization, and 3) scrambling-code identification. The performance of initial cell search procedure depends on search parameters like observation time and threshold. The purpose of this paper is to get the optimal observation time and threshold of each step for minimum mean acquisition time. In this paper we induce mean detection time of each step and mean acquisition timefrom the model of 3 step search procedure using state diagram. Also we propose initial cell search algorithm which utilize window search method against initial oscillator error, and select an appropriate observation time and threshold of each step by the analysis of simulation and induced result. It is shown that the mean acquisition time in multipath fading channel can be shorter than 500ms by using the determined observation time and threshold of each step.
