In this study, regional frequency analysis is used to determine each subbasin drought frequency with watershed runoff which is calculated with Tank Model in Nakdong river basin. L-Monments methd which is almost unbiased and nearly normal distribution is applied to estimate paramers of drought frequency analysis of monthly runoff time series. The duration of '76-77 was the most severe drought year than othe rwater years in this study. To decide drought frequency of each subbasin from the main basin, it is calculated by interpolaing runoff from the frequency-druoght runoff relationship. and the linear regression analysis is accomplished between drought frequency of main basin and that of each subbasin. With the results of linear regression analysis, the drought runoff of each subbasin is calculated corresponing to drought frequency 10,20 and 30 years of Nakdong river basin considering safety standards for the design of impounding facilities. As the results of this study, the proposed methodology and procedure of this study can be applied to water budget analysis considering safety standards for the design of impounding facilities in the large-scale river basin. For this purpose, above all, it is recommanded that expansion of reliable observed runoff data is necessary instead of calculated runoff by rainfall-runoff conceptual model.

This study is daytime and nighttime runoff image data caused by heavy rain on May 27, 2013 at Oedo Water Treatment Plant of Oedo-Stream, Jeju to compute runoff by applying Surface image velocimeter (SIV) and analyzing correlation according to current. At the same time, current was comparatively analyzed using ADCP observation data and fixed electromagnetic surface current meter (Kalesto) observed at the runoff site. As a result of comparison on resolutions of daytime and nighttime runoff images collected, correlation coefficient corresponding to the range of 0.6~0.7 was 6.8% higher for nighttime runoff image compared to daytime runoff image. On the contrary, correlation coefficient corresponding to the range of 0.9~1.0 was 17% lower. This result implies that nighttime runoff image has lower image quality than daytime runoff image. In the process of computing current using SIV, a rational filtering process for correlation coefficient is needed according to images obtained.
The point rainfall measurements need to be converted to the areal rainfall by means of mean areal precipitation (MAP) estimation methods. And it is not appropriate to evaluate the areal rainfall with constant drift because of the geomorphological influences to rainfall field. Non-stationarity should be applied to the estimation of the areal rainfall, therefore, to consider these effects. Kriging methods with special functional would be a suitable tool in this case. Generalized covariance Kriging method is the most developed one among different Kriging methods. From this point of view this study performs the analysis of its applicability to distributed runoff model. For these purpose, distributed rainfall was created by Thiessen and Kriging method. And distributed rainfall of each method was applied into HyGIS-GRM. The result of applying, Runoff was different in the rainfall data form. Therefore, To apply Kriging method with physical meaning is that it is the useful method as distributed rainfall-runoff model.
In this studs, hydraulic routing model has been developed to predict the water level and discharge in each river section with considering the full interaction between surface runoff and river flow. It improved the computation of flood runoff by reflecting the shape of hydrograph that was determined by the geological and flood characteristics, and the excessive computation of the peak discharge was eliminated by considering the effect of infiltration. The Inflow from surface runoff to river flow was applied to the equation of continuity by implementing effectively the flow in a number of river section, and resulted in a numerical stability at the rapid variation of rainfall. Measurements were conducted during heavy rain in the watershed area of Yang-Yang Namdae-Chun. The present model was tested to the field, and the computed results were compared to the observed data. Its applicability was confirmed with its verification.
In situ particle size spectra are obtained from two sequent cruises in order to evaluate the physical consequences of suspended particulate matters caused by episodic storm runoff from the Santa Ana River watershed, an urbanized coastal watershed. Suspended particles from various sources including surface runoff, near-bed resuspension, and phytoplankton are identified in empirical orthogonal function (EOF) analysis and an entropy-based parameterization (Shannon entropy). The first EOF mode is associated with high turbidity and fine particles as indicated by the elevated beam attenuation near the Santa Ana River and Newport Bay outlets, and the second EOF mode explains the suspended sediment dispersal and particle coarsening at the near-surface plume. Chlorophyll particles are also distinguished by negative magnitudes of the first EOF mode, which is supported by the relationship between fluorescence and beam attenuation. The integrated observation between the first EOF mode and the Shannon entropy index accentuates the characteristics of two different structures and/or sources of sediment particles; the near-surface plumes are originated from runoff water outflow, while the near-bottom particles are resuspended due to increased wave heights or mobilizing bottom turbidity currents. In a coastal pollution context, these methods may offer useful means of characterizing particle-associated pollutants for purposes of source tracking and environmental interpretation.
The runoff characteristics of combined sewer overflow(CSO) in the urban area of Jeonju were investigated and analyzed by using the SWMM (Storm Water Management Model) and GIS. From August to November 2004, investigations on two rainfall events were performed and flowrate, pH, BOD, COD, SS, T-N and T-P were measured. these data were used for model calibration. Using GIS technique, watershed characteristics of study area were calculated. that is, divide into sub_basin, total width, slope, make soil map etc. On the basis of the measured data and the simulation results by SWMM, it could be known that the $80-90\%$ of pollution load are discharged in early-stage storm runoff. SMC(site mean Concentration) for combined sewer system area were BOD 28.1, COD 31.5, SS 186 ppm etc. this is shown that during the rain fall, high concentration of waste was loaded to receiving water. Unit loads of combined sewer system area were BOD 306, COD 410, SS 789, T-N 79, T-P 6.8 kg/ha/yr.
Stormwater runoff from urban road area as non-point source has a tendency of including lots of pollutants at initial rain period. Recently, there are several cases of having installed treatment facilities for reducing pollution discharge from the impervious cover in urban area to prevent watershed environment from getting worse. The filtration type among non-point source treatment systems has been known as one of the most efficient system for treatment of non-point source pollutants. Therefore, various kinds of filter media such as expanded polypropylene(EPP), granular activated carbon, zeolite, perlite, illite, sand, gravel has been developed. This study was conducted to verify performance and hydraulic characteristics of filter media as measures for non-point source. The experiment was carried out to evaluate applicability and variation of 4 kind of most popular filter media(EPP, GAC, Zeolite, Perlite) in headloss with elapsed time and influent flow rate and to obtain data base that could be used to establish management plan for road runoff treatment. In experiment by tap water, it showed that EPP and perlite those are floatable materials showed stable operating performance and lower headloss than the others.

Recently, runoff characteristics of urban area are changing because of the increase of impervious area by rapid increasing of population and industrialization, urbanization. It needs to extract the accurate topological and hydrological parameters of watersheds in order to manage water resource efficiently. In this paper, rainfall-runoff analysis in An-Yang stream basin was made using GIS(Geographic Information System) and XP-SWMM(Export Stormwater and Wastewater Management Model). The basin was divided into 13 sub-basins using GIS. The area, slope, width of each subcatchment and length, slop of each stream reach were acquired from topographic maps, and imperviousness rate, land use types, infiltration capacities of each subcatchment from land use maps and soil maps using GIS. We gave th runoff management method of urbanization area us ing XP-SWMM.
Apparent changes in the natural hydrologic cycle causing more frequent floods in urban areas and surface water quality impairment have led stormwater management solutions towards the use of green and sustainable practices that aims to replicate pre-urbanization hydrology. Among the widely documented applications are infiltration techniques that temporarily store rainfall runoff while promoting evapotranspiration, groundwater recharge through infiltration, and diffuse pollutant reduction. In this study, a laboratory-scale infiltration device was built to be able to observe and determine the factors affecting flow variations and corresponding solids removal through a series of experiments employing semi-synthetic stormwater runoff. Results reveal that runoff and solids reduction is greatly influenced by the infiltration capability of the underlying soil which is also affected by rainfall intensity and the available depth for water storage. For gravel-filled structures, a depth of at least 1 m and subsoil infiltration rates of not more than 200 mm/h are suggested for optimum volume reduction and pollutant removal. Moreover, it was found that the length of the structure is more critical than the depth for applications in low infiltration soils. These findings provide a contribution to existing guidelines and current understanding in design and applicability of infiltration systems.
The objective of this study was to compare the rainfall-runoff characteristics in streams of classified urban and rural watershed using land use and population density. EMC (event mean concentration) of BOD, COD, TP and SS increased significantly in urban and rural watershed, but that of TN remained unchanged. Although there were no significant differences in EMC of BOD, COD, TN, TP depending on the watershed characteristics, EMC of BOD and COD significantly increased in the urban watershed, while EMC of TP increased in the rural watershed. In the urban watershed, the first flush time was faster and the first flush effect was stronger in BOD, COD, and TP. However, the difference between cumulative mass and cumulative volume was found to be less than 0.2 in the rural watershed, indicating a weak first flush effect. The discharged masses of BOD (70 %), COD (64 %), and TP (66 %) in the first flush of runoff were higher in urban watershed, while TN (67 %) was higher in rural watershed. The reproducibility of first flush time and the strength of first flush using CV (coefficient of variation) was found to be more reproducible for first flush time in both watersheds. In rural watershed, the CV value of first flush time for TP out of water quality parameters was lower. Whereas the CV values of first flush time for BOD, COD and TP in urban watersheds were similar.
