An increase in the frequency and intensity of both floods and droughts has been recently observed due to an increase in climate variability. Especially, land-use change associated with industrial structure and urbanization has led to an imbalance between water supply and demand, acting as a constraint in water resource management. Accurate rainfall-runoff analysis plays a critical role in evaluating water availability in the water budget analysis. This study aimed to explore various continuous rainfall-runoff models over the Soyanggang dam watershed. Moreover, the ensemble modeling framework combining multiple models was introduced to present scenarios on streamflow considering uncertainties. In the ensemble modeling framework, rainfall-runoff models with fewer parameters are generally preferred for effective regionalization. In this study, more than 40 continuous rainfall-runoff models were applied to the Soyanggang dam watershed, and nine rainfall-runoff models were primarily selected using different goodness-of-fit measures. This study confirmed that the ensemble model showed better performance than the individual model over different flow regimes.

Accurate analysis of water budget and seawater exchange characteristics is essential for the improvement and management of the degraded water quality in Masan Bay. In this study, water budget is simulated for the four divided coastal zones on the monthly base, and watershed runoff discharges which are important as input parameters are estimated using the runoff coefficient(=0.7). The main results are as follows : The runoff-contribution rate due to water supply discharge is increased from 10% in 1978 to the equivalent amount at present. The reduction quantity due to the wastewater interception is about 25% of total inflow discharges, and the net effects of both precipitation and evaporation is about 10%. As the hydraulic detention time in Masan Bay is estimated about 3 months, water exchange rate is to be very low. From the analysis of the salinity variation on account of water mixing, it appears no temporal correlation between monthly average precipitation and salinity, whereas only regional correlation is apparent.

Due to climate change, increased heavy rainfalls result in flood damage every year. To investigate the storm-runoff reduction effects of Low Impact Development (LID), this study performed runoff analyses using the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) for past and future representative storm events of the Yongdu Rainwater Pumping Station basin. As a result, the infiltration loss for representative future rainfalls increased by 3.17 %, and the surface runoff and peak runoff rate increased significantly by 32.50 %, and 128.77 %, respectively. To reduce the increased surface runoff and peak runoff rates, this study investigated the applicability of LID approaches, including a permeable pavement, green roof, and rain garden, by adjusting the LID parameters and the ratio of installation area. We identified the ranges of LID parameters that decreased peak runoff rate and surface runoff, and increased infiltration. In addition, when the application ratio of permeable pavement, green roof, and rain garden was 2:1:3, best performance was attained, leading to a reduction of peak runoff of 26.85 %, infiltration loss 12.01 %, surface runoff 15.11 %, and storage 509.47 %. Based on analyzing the effect of storm runoff reductions for various return periods, it was found that as the return period increased, the proportion of peak runoff and surface runoff increased and the proportion of infiltration loss and storage decreased.
This study analyzed water quality data from a coniferous forest catchment in order to quantify the contributions of runoff components to stormflow, and to understand the effects of antecedent moisture conditions within catchment on the contributions of runoff components. Hydrograph separation by the twocomponent mixing model analysis was used to partition stormflow discharge into pre-event and event components for total 10 events in 2005 and 2008. To simplify the analysis, this study used single geochemical tracer with Na+. The result shows that the average contributions of event water and pre-event water were 34.8% and 65.2% of total stormflow of all 10 events, respectively. The event water contributions for each event varied from 18.8% to 47.9%. As the results of correlation analysis between event water contributions versus some storm event characteristics, 10 day antecedent rainfall and 1 day antecedent streamflow are significantly correlated with event water contributions. These results can provide insight which will contribute to understand the importance of antecedent moisture conditions in the generation of event water, and be used basic information to stormflow generation process in forest catchment.
The objective of this study is to estimate the load of pollutants caused from the forest area among non-point pollutants within the Juam lake. The surveyed forest area was classified into broad-leaved, conifer, mixed and herbage area by forest tree type. Water quality and flux were investigated under rainfall and non-rainfall, respectively. Then, pollutant loading was evaluated by using the values of unit pollutant loading factor of each point and area of forest zone. Water quality analysis results of runoff by forest tree types were as follows. - Annual BOD, $COD_{Mn}\;and\;COD_{Cr}$ concentration of runoff in conifer area was high, and particle and biological recalcitrant compounds were flowed highly. - SS, T-N and T-P concentration was high in runoff from broad-leaved area, and biological degradable compounds was flowed. - Water quality of water from valley was maintained good under non-rainfall and could be utilized as fresh drinking water. Through water quality standard investigation, a countermeasure establishment was necessary to secure a good quality of drinking water - BOD, $COD_{Mn},\;and\;COD_{Cr}$ concentration of Bo-sung river was higher 1.5 times than other 2 streams, and because of high T-N, and T-P concentration in Songgwang stream, the management for this was necessary.

This study is to analyse the hydrological behavior of agricultural reservoir using CAT (Catchment hydrologic cycle Assessment Tool). The CAT is a water cycle analysis model in order to quantitatively assess the characteristics of the short/long-term changes in watershed. It supports the effective design of water cycle improvement facilities by supplementing the strengths and weaknesses of existing conceptual parameter-based lumped hydrologic models and physical parameter-based distributed hydrologic models. The CAT especially supports the analysis of runoff processes in paddy fields and reservoirs. To evaluate the impact of agricultural reservoir operation and irrigation water supply on long-term rainfall-runoff process, the CAT was applied to Idong experimental catchment, operated for research on the rural catchment characteristics and accumulated long term data by hydrological observation equipments since 2000. From the results of the main control points, Idong, Yongdeok and Misan reservoirs, the daily water levels of those points are consistent well with observed water levels, and the Nash-Sutcliffe model efficiencies were 0.32~0.89 (2001~2007) and correlation coefficients were 0.73~0.98.
This study aims at the augmentation of reliability of the long-term rainfall runoff model. To do so agricultural water uses are evaluated by analyzing the effects of small scale irrigational hydraulic structures on long term runoff processes and thereby rainfall-runoff model is modified considering them. As a result the simulation results of the sub-basins having more agricultural reservoirs than the others are disagreed with the observations. The 2nd quarter simulation results show similar trend to it. Especially the farming seasonal results of the drought year as the year of 2008 have many negative discharge values due to the lack of agricultural water uses. This result come from the water uses input data corresponding to not real water uses but water demands. In this study the formulas are derived to estimate the discharges and return ratios and the long term rainfall-runoff model is reformulated based on these. It is confirmed that the errors of the simulation results could be reduced by considering the effects of small scale irrigational hydraulic structures and the reliability of the simulation results improved greatly.
