Recent Development of National Competency Standards in Korean Rubber Product Manufacturing

  • The national competency standards (NCS) is the national standard for standardizing the skills needed to successfully carry out the duties of industrial sites. It consists of competency units and their sub units. Two standards were developed for the manufacturing of Korean rubber products: rubber compounding and rubber product manufacturing. Each standard consists of ten competency units and their elements. Learning modules will be developed in the near future. It is expected that researchers and workers in the Korean rubber industry will utilize these standards.

  • 자동차 타이어의 트레드는 노면과 직접적으로 접촉하며 제동력, 구동력, 소음 등 중요한 역할을 한다. 트레드는 많은 그루브로 이루어져 있는데 고무의 형상을 형성하는 가류 공정에서 불량이 발생하게 되면 트레드의 기능이 저하되어 자동차 성능의 문제로 이어지게 된다. 본 논문은 CAE 해석을 통하여 가류 공정 중 구체적인 고무의 흐름을 분석하였다. 트레드 형상에 따라 고무 흐름의 편차가 발생하기 때문에 형상에 따른 트레드의 고무가 금형에 접촉되는 순서와 속도 그리고 고무의 흐름을 관찰하였다. 트레드의 형상에 따라서 고무가 금형에 안착되는 양상이 다르게 나타났으며 고무의 흐름에 큰 변화를 주는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

산업용차량 고무마운트 부품에 대한 내구성 및 신뢰성개선 (Durability and Reliability Improvement for the Rubber Mount of Industrial Trucks)

  • Predicting fatigue life of rubber components is an important issue in design procedure for industrial trucks to assure the durability and reliability. Main considerations in designing rubber components against fatigue failure are the compounding technology, shape design, and manufacturing process. Among them the rubber compounding technology is one of the most critical factor to determine more than 50% of component's quality. This paper presents how to improve the durability and reliability of industrial rubber mount during its design, development and prototype testing. The data presented illustrates explicitly the prediction of reliability growth in the product development cycle. The application of these techniques is a part of the product assurance function that plays an important role in rubber components reliability improvement.

  • The function and purpose of the marine rubber fender, to prevent the damage of the ship and the mooring while the ship is being attached to the pier. However, maintenance of the fender after installation is not enough, because it is generally handled as an attachment facility. Estimation the life of a marine rubber fender is important in the maintenance of a port. When manufacturers design and produce marine rubber fenders, they do so according to various conditions such as the reaction force acting on the hull and docking vessel and deformation after absorbing the kinetic energy of the ship. In this study, a method for predicting and evaluating service life from the product design and development stage was established, in order to evaluate the durability of the marine rubber fenders. The SSp-300H and HSP-300H models were used to predict the service life. The method developed in this study, is expected to predict the service life of the marine rubber fender accurately and in a comparatively shorter time, thereby contributing to the evaluation standard and quality stability of the product.

EPDM재질 CLIP고무제품의 유동해석을 이용한 최적 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Design for CLIP Rubber Product Made of EPDM Using Flow Analysis)

  • Many rubber products are used in industrial products such as various hoses, rubber belts and oil seals etc. Especially, more then 200 rubber parts are used in the automobile, but design technology of these is largely dependent on Held experiences. These methods brought about too much time and cost in the developing procedures. However, with the help of recent rapid development of non-liner computer analysis, we can develop new sound products at low cost. Therefore in this study, optimizations of design variables such as location and number of gate in order to develop CLIP rubber product made of EPDM were performed by CAE in which Cross-WLF equations are adopted. The validity of proposed variables is evaluated by comparison with real forming results.

Analysis of Indonesian Rubber Export Supply for 1995-2015

  • This study aims is to determine the factors that influence Indonesian rubber export supply based on the export destination countries. Indonesian rubber export supply is thought to be influenced by the variables like the volume of Indonesia rubber exports, the price of Indonesian natural rubber, the volume of domestic rubber production, the export volume of the previous period, the rupiah exchange rate against US$, the interest rate and real Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The data used is the annual time series from 1995-2015 based on export countries encompassing the United States, China, and Japan. Multiple linear regression with the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method is applied to analyse the data. The results showed that the volume of Indonesian rubber exports to China is not influenced by domestic natural rubber prices and the Rupiah exchange rate against the Chinese Yuan. The volume of Indonesian rubber exports to Japan is influenced by the volume of domestic rubber production. The volume of Indonesian rubber exports to the three destination countries is influenced by the volume of domestic rubber production, interest rate, and real GDP.

  • The application of rubber produt is a quite extensive field and has several problems in point of mass-production. The inhibitive factors at the general rubber mold are occurrence of flash, loss of raw material by curing for sprue and runner, environmental pollution by scrap junked after extraction of product and the unavailable mold structure for automation. The existence of flash at the rubber mold requires extra-process for removing or finishing it. As the reason, we can't help avoiding deterioration of quality and rising of cost. Hence we promptly need to research fur the efficient structure of mold and the preventive transforming technique of the flash without any loss of raw material in advance. This monograph is a study for Wasteless rubber mold that give us a solution for several problems happened at the general rubber mold.

Corrosion of Silver by Outgassing from Rubber

  • Corrosion of silver by outgassed sulfur species from rubber has been investigated by means of quartz crystal microbalance technique (QCM) and cathodic reduction technique. Silver specimens were placed together with a rubber of predefined quantity in an enclosed environment. Corrosion progressed linearly with time and silver sulfide was found as the corrosion product during all the tests. No significant dependence on RH was observed, while the corrosion rate increased as temperature rose. Furthermore the corrosion rate increased logarithmically with the quantity of the rubber placed in the exposure environment. It may be suggested that the corrosion rate of silver is determined by the amount of outgassed sulfur species which is a function of temperature and the quantity of rubber contained in the exposure environment.

대변형을 하는 고무 부품의 거동에 관한 해석 (An analysis about the behavior of rubber component with large deformation)

  • The non-linear finite element program of the large deformation analysis by computer simulation has been used in the prediction and evaluation of the behaviors of the non-linear rubber components. The analysis of rubber components requires the tools modelling the special materials that are quite different from those used for the metallic parts. The nonlinear simulation analysis used in this study is expected to be widely applied in the design analysis and the development of several rubber components which are used In the manufacturing process of many industries. By utilizing this method, the time and cost can also be saved in developing the new rubber product. The objective of this study is to analyze the rubber component with the large deformation and non-linear properties.

  • Rubber isolator has properties that can adjust easily stiffness and can be formed various shape. Also, it has high damping and is effective about structure-borne noise at high frequency range, So, rubber mount has widely used to isolate vibration at industrial equipment and construction field. However, rubber material is nonlinear and require enough consideration about shape factor whenever it is designed. The purpose of this paper is to develop conical rubber mount using compression and shear elasticity. The first, the dimension of mount is calculated by theoretical analysis considering design condition and static characteristics have been analyzed by FEM method. In addition, the fatigue test of rubber mount is performed to get reliability for product life and dynamic stiffness test is executed to get dynamic magnification factor. Finally, transmissibility test of vibration isolator has been carried out to suggest normal quantity data about vibration isolation.
