A Genetic Algorithm for Route Guidance System in Intermodal Transportation Networks with Time - Schedule Constraints (서비스시간 제한이 있는 복합교통망에서의 경로안내 시스템을 위한 유전자 알고리듬)

  • The paper discusses the problem of finding the Origin-Destination(O-D) shortest paths in internodal transportation networks with time-schedule constraints. The shortest path problem on the internodal transportation network is concerned with finding a path with minimum distance, time, or cost from an origin to a destination using all possible transportation modalities. The time-schedule constraint requires that the departure time to travel from a transfer station to another node takes place only at one of pre-specified departure times. The scheduled departure times at the transfer station are the times when the passengers are allowed to leave the station to another node using the relative transportation modality. Therefore, the total time of a path in an internodal transportation network subject to time-schedule constraints includes traveling time and transfer waiting time. In this paper, a genetic algorithm (GA) approach is developed to deal with this problem. The effectiveness of the GA approach is evaluated using several test problems.

  • Today, the location based service(LBS) is globally developing with the advance of smart phones and IOT devices. The main purpose of this research is to provide users with the most efficient route information, analyzing big data of people with a variety of routes. This system will enable users to have a similar feeling of getting a direct guidance from a person who has often used the route. It is possible because the system server analyzes the route information of people in real time, after composing the distributed processing system on the basis of map information. In the future, the system will be able to amazingly develop with the association of various LBS services, providing users with more precise and safer route information.

  • 차량 항법 시스템(Car Navigation System)은 요즘 많은 발전을 거듭하여 차량 이용시 사용자가 가고자하는 목적지까지의 길을 쉽게 안내하고 있다. 이런 기술의 발전은 단순한 정적인 길 안내(Static Route Guidance) 뿐만 아니라. 동적인 길 안내(Dynamic Route Guidance)를 함으로써 자동차 운전자가 쉽고 빠른 길을 안내 받을 수 있게 되었다. 그러나 이러한 교통정보는 매우 변화가 심하므로 최초로 경로를 전송 받은 후 그 경로상에 교통정보가 변화하였다면, 이미 전송 받은 경로는 실시간으로 적극적으로 대응할 수 없고 실제 막히는 길로 안내할 수 있다. 목적지까지의 거리가 먼 경우 이런 현상이 더욱 심하게 나타날 수 있다. 이런 경우 운전자는 실제로는 막히는 길로 안내 받을 수 밖에 없다. 이런 문제점을 해결하기 위해 교통정보를 수집하는 기존의 시스템에 Ad Hoc 네트워킹이 가능한 시스템을 탑재한 교통정보 수집 차량(Probe Car)을 이용한다. 정보 수집 차량이 극심한 정체를 발견하면 근처를 지나는 경로를 가진 차량에게 이를 전달하여 새로운 경로를 다운받을 수 있도록 한다. 이런 방법은 Ad Hoc Relaying System〔l〕을 이용하여 가능하며, 센터에 수집되고 가공되는 시간을 최대한 줄일 수 있으며, 센터의 통신 오버헤드를 최소화할 수 있다. 또한 기지국에 호가 집중되어 call blocking이 발생함 경우에 이를 해결할 수 있다.

  • This paper describes the mobile robot system to recognize the guidance tape, and presents the locomotion algorithm. This system converts video imago to binary image by setting an optimal threshold and obtains the parameters to move the robot. The mobile robot moves according to the programmed route in memory. But after recognized the obstacle on the locomotion routs, this system constructs the new route and the robot moves following the new route.

  • The ATIS(Advance Traveler Information System), as one part of ITS, is a system aiming to disperse traffic volume on transportation networks by providing traffic information to transportation users on pre-trip and en-route trips. One of tools in ATIS is usage of VMS(Variable Message Signs). It provides to the drivers with direct information about state of processing direction. which is considered as the most effective method in ATIS. The purposes of providing VMS information are classified two categories. One is to provide simple information to drivers for their convenience. The other is to manage traffic demand to improve transportation network performance. However, for more effective and reliable VMS information, several strategies should be taken into account. The main VMS management strategy is "Traffic Diversion Strategy for minimum delay" when traffic congestion or incident are occurred. For effective operation. firstly. reasonable diversion traffic volume is determined by network traffic condition Secondly, it is necessary to make providing information strategy which reflects driver response behavior for controling diversion traffic volume. This paper focuses on the providing real-time route guidance information by VMS when congestion is occurred by the incidents. This sturdy estimates time-dependent system optimal diversion rate that inflects travel time and queue lengths using traffic flow simulation model on base Cellular Automata. In addition, route choice behavior models are developed using binary logit model for traffic information variable by traffic system controller. Finally, this study provides time-dependent VMS massage contents and degree of providing information in order to optimize the traffic flow.

  • Hyundai Electronics Industries Corp has developed a navigation system which automatically computes the current position and displays it on the map using GPS(Global Positioning System). This system has such features as follow : searching of destination by means of digital mapping, locating of the present position on the map and detecting of guidance timing through signals from the artificial satellites and vehicle's sensors, and having a few of functions as TV & VTR monitoring, tracing the route, displaying service information which include hotels, restaurants, entertainments, et al. This paper describes the operations and construction of this navigation system.

  • Life and Property damage has increased during traffic congestion and isolation because natural disasters such as flood and landslide have occurred every year. When disaster occurs, if there is insufficient information in advance when entering the flooding areas which subsequently cause confusion. In this paper, we developed the system that could provide display of detour route using disaster information and evacuation route in disaster areas. User will receive result of analysis using smart phone application to prevent additional damages when disaster areas were entered by manager.

  • A bi-modal tram can travel in not only dedicated way but also road so as to reduce construction costs and increase vehicle operation efficiency, whose passenger capacity is 2,500 to 7,000 persons/direction/hour. A bi-modal has an electronic guidance system that knows the location and route of the vehicle, and uses magnetic markers in the road surface for reference. Since a bi-modal tram will be operated in the downtown area, there is some possibility that strong wind occurred between high-rise buildings can produce sudden lateral movement (displacement) of the vehicle to influence its automatic operation controlled by electronic guidance system. For bi-modal tram in the automatic operation mode, lateral movements occurred by strong wind were calculated and analyzed in the dynamic model developed by using the ADAMS. Some useful relations among vehicle speeds, wind speeds, and lateral behaviors were discussed in this paper.

  • We propose a smart parking space guiding system based on user preferences in a parking lot. This system guides each vehicle to the most suitable parking space in a parking lot to meet the user preferences such as the available parking spaces in the parking zones and the proximity to the destination by exploiting the traffic to each parking zone gathered at the sensors near each guiding display. For this purpose, this paper proposes the cost function for the optimal route guide based on the various user preferences. In addition, the paper reports the design and implementation results of an event based simulator to show the feasibility of the smart parking guidance system.

  • This study focused on offering a helpful information for the touring. To develop a tour route guidance tool, it is needed to use a GIS function, which can suggest a possible shortest path based on time and distance. A Traveling salesman problem algorithm, which was developed to solve multi destination problem in network analysis, was used to implement a tour guidance system. This system was developed using ArcObjects programming components within ArcGIS 8.3. Jeju city was selected for the case study to apply the tool and to test the effectiveness of it. This study demonstrated that this tool was considerably effective for finding a probable optimum tour path in the following aspects. First, it can help tourists to select several attractions from numerous tour sites in an area given limited time. Second, tourist can manage time efficiently by organizing their tour courses on the basis of the tool. Third, tourists can reduce the uncertainties that may happen under unexpected situations in unfamiliar places by obtaining specific spatial information using the tool. Fourth, the Graphic User Interface of the tool can be easily used to obtain visual information of spatial data.
