Epidural and Psoas Abscesses Recognized after Paravertebral Trigger Point Injection -A case report- (척추 주위근 통증유발점주사 후 발생한 경막외와 요근 농양 -증례보고-)

  • The trigger point injection technique is widely used in pain clinics for the treatment of acute and chronic pain. Yet it has a variety of complications such asvasovagal syncope, total spinal anesthesia, paralysis, root block, pneumothorax, needle breakage, skin infection, and hematoma formation. Among them, the simultaneous occurrence of psoas and epidural abscesses is extremely rare. We report here on a patient who was diagnosed with epidural and psoas abscesses after paravertebral trigger point injection.

THE CANAL SYSTEM OF MANDIBULAR INCISORS (하악 절치의 근관계에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to identificate root canal system including ideal access placement, root curvature, canal configuration, incidence of isthmus in mandibular incisors for success of endodontic treatment. 200 mandibular incisors were selected. The ideal access placement was determimed as follows. The teeth there radiographed from mesiodistal and buccolingual views using intraoral dental film. The image was divided into coronal, middle and apical third using the proximal film. Straight line access was determined by measuring the faciolingual canal width and placing points at midway point between the buccal and lingual wall at the junction of the middle and apical third and at the juntion of coronal and middle third of the root canal. A line was drawn connecting these two points extending through the crown of the tooth. The point at which the line crossed the external crown surface was recorded as facial, incisal, lingual. Degree of root curvature was determined by Schneider Protractor Method. Both section method and clearing method were used in this study. By section method, 100 mandibular incisors were embedded in clear resin and transeverse serial sectioned at 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0mm level from root apex. The resected surfaces were stained by methylene blue and examined under $\times$40 magnification with a stereomicroscope. By clearing method, 100 mandibular incisors were cleared in methysalicylate after decalcification with 10% nitric acid and evaluated under $\times$18 magnification with a stereomicroscope. The results were as follows ; 1. 29% had the center of the plotted straight-line access facial to incisal edge, whereas 71% had straight-line access at the incisal edge. When incisal wear classified as extensive, the straight-line access was plotted on the incisal edge 95.5%. When incisal wear classified as slight/none, the straight-line access was plotted on the facial 65.9%. 2. Degree of curvature of main canal was straight or almost straight, and only 10% in buccolingual direction had a degree of curvature greater than 20 degrees and 5.5% in mesiodistal direction had. 3. In section method, canal configuration analysis showed that 51% of the specimen classified as type I, 27% as type II, 12% as type III, 10% as type IV. For theses setions with two canals, the incidence of an isthmus was 36.7%, 64.3%, 79.2%, 96.3%, 97.4%, 97.6% at each level and highest in 3~5mm sections. 4. In clearing method, canal configuration analysis showed that 74% of the specimen classified as type I, 11% as type II, 6% as type III, 9% as type IV. These results suggested that traditional access from lingual should be moved as far toward the incisal as possible to locate and debride the lingual canal and root canal system should be cleaned, shaped completely and obturated three dimensionally for successful endodontic treatment.

Efficiency and Behavior of P32-labeled Phosphorus in Camellia japonica L in Blooming Stage (개화기(開花期)에 들어선 동백나무(Camellia japonica L)의 P32 표식(標識) 인산(燐酸)의 행동(行動)과 효율(効率)에 대(對)하여)

  • Traced observations were carried out for efficiency and behavior of Camellia japonica L in bloom stage by employing $p^{32}$-labeled phosphorus, growing in Southern Korea, and the results were as follows. 1) The percentage of phosphorus contained in flowerbud was double the value of the other parts, and the root and the stem were the same patterns in the course of the times. 2) The circulation of the phosphorus in the plant seems to occur within 24 hours, the proportions of the phosphorus at the growing-point and flowerbud had a half of the total phosphorus contained in other parts. 3) Specific activities of each part were notable on the growing-point where, after 24 hours it took more than 80 percent. On the other hand, the efficiency rate which derived from the phosphorus was shown as about 19 percents.

  • Dynamic stability problems have been experienced with a generator connected to an infinite bus through a long transmission line. Nuclear turbine-generator units #1 and #2 at the Winsconsin Electric Power Point Baech Station were found to be dynamically unstable when one unit is isolated on one of the lines to Milwaukee or when two units are isolaed on the lines to milwaukee. Power System Stabilizers(PSS) were applied to the excitation system to provide stable operation under these conditions. Suitable settings for the PSS were predetetermined analytically by computer method and root licus analysis of an equivalent single machine-infinite bus configuration. This procedure allows graphical approach to the design of power stabilizers and serves as assynthesis procedure when the design constraints are relaxed so the the speed stabilizer is required ro provide animprovement in system damping. A simplified model of the complete exciter generator system is shown to be adequate for this type of analysis.

  • Ethylene regulates numerous aspects of plant growth and development. Multiple external and internal factors coordinate ethylene production in plant tissues. Transcriptional and post-translational regulations of ACC synthases (ACSs), which are key enzymes mediating a rate-limiting step in ethylene biosynthesis have been well characterized. However, the regulation and physiological roles of ACC oxidases (ACOs) that catalyze the final step of ethylene biosynthesis are largely unknown in Arabidopsis. Here, we show that Arabidopsis ACO1 exhibits a tissue-specific expression pattern that is regulated by multiple signals, and plays roles in the lateral root development in Arabidopsis. Histochemical analysis of the ACO1 promoter indicated that ACO1 expression was largely modulated by light and plant hormones in a tissue-specific manner. We demonstrated that point mutations in two E-box motifs on the ACO1 promoter reduce the light-regulated expression patterns of ACO1. The aco1-1 mutant showed reduced ethylene production in root tips compared to wild-type. In addition, aco1-1 displayed altered lateral root formation. Our results suggest that Arabidopsis ACO1 integrates various signals into the ethylene biosynthesis that is required for ACO1's intrinsic roles in root physiology.

ANALYSIS OF TEMPERATURE RISE ON THE ROOT SURFACE DURING CONTINUOUS WAVE OF CONDENSATION TECHNIQUE (Continuous Wave of Condensation Technique으로 근관충전시 치근면 온도상승 분석)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the temperature rise on the root surface while the root canal is being obturated using continuous wave of condensation technique. Maxillary central incisor was prepared for repeated canal obturation. Ten thermocouples (Omega Engineering Inc., Stanford, USA) were placed at 1 mm increment from the anatomical root apex. The real temperature of Buchanan plugger was recorded before insertion into the root canal. The root canal was obturated with continuous wave of condensation technique as described by Buchanan and the root surface temperature was recorded during obturation at $150^{\circ}C,{\;}200^{\circ}C,{\;}250^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}300^{\circ}C$ temperature settings of System B HeatSource (Model 1005, Analytic technologies, Redmond, WA, USA). After completion of the temperature recording, the dentinal-cementum thickness at each sites was measured. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by Scheffe's test and linear regression test. The results were as follows. 1. When the temperature was set at $150^{\circ}C,{\;}200^{\circ}C,{\;}250^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}300^{\circ}C$ on the digital display of System B HeatSource, the real temperature of the plugger at the 1mm point from the tip revealed $130.82{\pm}2.96^{\circ}C,{\;}158.00{\pm}5.26^{\circ}C,{\;}215.92{\pm}6.91^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}249.88{\pm}3.65^{\circ}C$ respectively. 2. The position of 8 mm from the anatomical apex showed the highest temperature increase at each temperature settings and it was significantly higher than those of other positions (p<0.0l). The temperature rise was constantly increased toward coronal portion from apex of the root. 3. The maximum temperature increase on the root surface was $2.37{\pm}0.09^{\circ}C{\;}at{\;}150^{\circ}C{\;}setting,{\;}3.11{\pm}0.12^{\circ}C{\;}at{\;}200^{\circ}{\;}setting,{\;}3.93{\pm}0.09^{\circ}C{\;}at{\;}250^{\circ}C{\;}setting{\;}and{\;}5.69{\pm}0.15^{\circ}C{\;}at{\;}300^{\circ}C$ setting respectively. These results suggest that it be relatively kind to the supporting tissues of the root that the root canal is obturated using continuous wave of condensation technique at $150^{\circ}C,{\;}200^{\circ}C,{\;}250^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}300^{\circ}C$ temperature settings on digital temperature display of System B HeatSource.

A Study about the Change of Locations of the Center of Resistance According to the Decrease of Alveolar Bone Heights and Root Lengths during Anterior Teeth Retraction using the Laser Reflection Technique (Laser 반사측정법을 이용한 전치부 후방 견인시 치조골 높이와 치근길이 감소에 따른 저항중심의 위치변화에 관한 연구)

  • Treatment mechanics should be individualized to be suitable for each patient's personal teeth and anatomic environment to get a best treatment result with the least harmful effects to teeth and surrounding tissues. Especially, the change of biomechanical reaction associated with that of the centers of resistance of teeth should be considered when crown-to-root ratio changed due to problematic root resorption and/or periodontal disease during adult orthodontic treatment. At the present study, in order to investigate patterns of initial displacements of anterior teeth under certain orthodontic force when crown-to-root ratio changed in not only normal periodontal condition but also abnormal periodontal and/or teeth condition, the changes of the centers of resistance for maxillary and mandibular 6 anterior teeth as a segment were studied using the laser reflection technique, the lever & pulley force applicator and the photodetector with these quantified variables reducing alveolar bone 2mm by 2mm for each of maxillary 6 anterior teeth until the total amount of 8mm and root 2mm by 2mm for each of mandibular 6 anterior ones until the total amount of 6mm. The results were as follows: 1. Under unreduced condition, the center of resistance during initial displacement of maxillary 6 anterior teeth was located at the point of about $42.4\%$ apically from cemento-enamel junction(CEJ) of the averaged tooth of them and kept shifting to about $76.7\%$ with alveolar bone reduction. 2. The distance from the averaged alveolar crest level of maxillary 6 anterior teeth to the center of resistance for the averaged tooth of them kept decreasing with alveolar bone reduction, but the ratio to length of the averaged root embedded in the alveolar bone was stable at around $33\%$ regardless of that. 3. Under unreduced condition, the center of resistance during initial displacement of mandibular 6 anterior teeth was located at the Point of about $43\%$ apically from CEJ of the averaged tooth of them and this ratio kept increasing to about $54\%$ with root reduction. But the distance from CEJ to the center of resistance decreased from around 5.3mm to around 3.3mm, that is to say, the center of resistance kept shifting toward CEJ with the shortening of root length. 4. A unit reduction of alveolar bone had greater effects on the change of the centers of resistance than that of root did during initial Phase of each reduction. But both of them had similar effects at the middle region of whole length of the averaged root.

  • This paper presents the real-time implemented distance relay algorithm which the fault distance is estimated with only local terminal information. When a single-phase-to-earth fault on a two-parallel transmission line occurs, the reach accuracy of distance relay is considerably affected by the unknown variables which are fault resistance, fault current at the fault point and zero- sequence current of sound line The zero-sequence current of sound line is estimated by using the zero sequence voltage which is measured by relaying location Also. the fault resistance is removed at the Process of numerical formula expansion. Lastly, the fault current through a fault point is expressed as a function of the zero-sequence current of fault line, zero-sequence current of sound line, and line, and fault distance. Therefore, the fault phase voltage can be expressed as the quadratic equation of the fault distance. The solution of this Quadratic equation is obtained by using a coefficient of the modified quadratic equation instead of using the square root solution method. After tile accurate fault distance is estimated. the mote accurate impedance is measured by using such an information.

Implementing M-SIDH: Performance and Efficiency Evaluation (M-SIDH 구현 및 성능 평가를 통한 효율성 연구)

  • Due to the recent attack by Castryck-Decru, the private key of SIDH can be recovered in polynomial time so several methods have been proposed to prevent the attack. Among them, M-SIDH proposed by Fouotsa et al, counteracts the attack by masking the torsion point information during the key exchange. In this paper, we implement M-SIDH and evaluate its performance. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first implementation of M-SIDH in C language. Toward that end, we propose a method to select parameters for M-SIDH instantiation and propose a 1024-bit prime for implementation. We implemented the square-root Velu formula over the extension field for further optimization. As a result, 1129 ms is required for a key exchange in the case of MSIDH-1024, providing the classic 64-bit security level.

  • In this thesis, Improvisation of Jazz Vocal that can be characterized as Jazz music, namely practice of Scat suggest that way of applied approach that root position of chord and chord tones. Scat plays a solo using reproduced tunes of meaningless scat syllable that is not use the lyrics and melodies, which are written in a score. For this, Using the root position of chord is a reference point that Jazz vocal constructs a musical melody. Singing person can develop that reference point from simple scat to develop increasingly complex scat and can express that musical expression and communion. It analyzed the music functionally with a standard Jazz music 'All of me' as the center from composition of chord tone that improvise song to bass line, bass scat, analysis of chord tones arpeggio and expression. In this thesis, the improvisation of a Jazz vocal that may seem somewhat abstruse and complex could be relatively easy to construct through a gradual approach.
