  • Formability and other mechanical properties of sheet metals are strongly dependent on the texture. It was studied to improve the formability of the Al alloy(AA3003) sheets which were rolled under the non-lubrication condition and subsequent heat treated. In the non-lubrication rolled and subsequent heat treated Al alloy sheet, the variation of the plastic strain ratios were investigated in this study. Non-lubrication rolled Al sheets showed a fine grain size and after subsequent heat treated specimens showed that the $\beta$-fiber texture component was increased. The plastic strain ratios of the non-lubrication rolled and subsequent heat treated Al alloy sheets were about two times higher than those of the original Al sheets. These could be related to the formation of $\beta$-fiber texture components through the non-lubrication rolling and subsequent heat treatment in Al sheet.

  • Drawability and other mechanical properties of sheet metals are strongly dependent on their crystallographic orientations. In this paper the formability of the AA 5052 Al alloy sheets was investigated after asymmetric rolling and subsequent heat treatment. In most cases, after asymmetric rolling specimens showed a fine grain size and subsequent heat treated specimens showed that the ND // <111> texture component were observed. The anisotropy of formability is often described by the plastic strain ratios (r-value) as a function of the angle to the rolling direction in sheet metal. For a good formability, a high r-value is required in sheet metals. In the asymmetry rolled and subsequent heat treated Al alloy sheet, the variation of the plastic strain ratios have been investigated in this study, The plastic strain ratios of the asymmetry rolled and subsequent heat treated AA 5052 Al alloy sheets were higher than those of the original Al sheets. • Cold rolled steel sheet for automotive was treated by Ar/$O_2$ atmospheric pressure plasma to improve the adhesive bonding strength. Through the contact angle test and calculation of surface free energy for cold rolled steel sheet, the changes of surface properties were investigated before and after plasma treatment. The contact angle was decreased and surface free energy was increased after plasma treatment. And the change of surface roughness and morphology were observed by AFM(Atomic Force Microscope). The surface roughness of steel sheet was slightly changed. Based on Taguchi method, single lap shear test was performed to investigate the effect of experimental parameter such as plasma power, treatment time and flow rate of $O_2$ gas. Results shows that the bonding strength of steel sheet treated in Ar/$O_2$ atmospheric pressure plasma was improved about 20% compared with untreated sheet.

  • In order to study the effect of lubrication during hot rolling, ferritic stainless steel (FSS) sheet were hot-rolled with and without application of lubrication. The effect of two hot rolling processes on the evolution of texture and microstructure after hot rolling, cold rolling and subsequent recrystallization annealing was studied by means of macro-texture analysis and microstructure observations. After hot rolling, the specimen rolled with lubrication showed rolling textures at the sheet surface, while the specimen rolled without lubrication displayed shear textures in the outer layers of the sheet. Hot rolling with lubrication was beneficial to the formation of strong recrystallization textures at sheet surface. However, hot rolling with lubrication led to the formation of orientation colonies in outer thickness layers of the recrystallized sheet.

  • This experiment was conducted to reduce the cost of orient leaf using izmir, samsun and basma scraps in cigarettes manufacturing process. We manufactured rolled and paper sheet tobacco using orient scraps and substituted orient leaf in Pine tree to the rolled and paper sheet tobacco using orient scraps. Orient scraps were lower in total sugar, total sugar/nicotine and total nitrogen/nicotine, higher in nicotine and crude ash than those of orient leaves. Izmir and basma scraps were higher of 2-methyl butanoic, 3-methyl butanoic and 3-methyl pentanoic acid, but the chemical contents in samw scraps were lower than those of orient leaves. The specific gravity thickness, flness index, filling value were similar between orient scraps blended sheet tobacco and present sheet tobacco. The physical characteristics of orient scraps blended sheet tobacco were within Present sheet tobacco quality specification. The sheet tobacco using orient scraps was higher 2-metal butanoic, 3-methyl butanoic and 3-methyl pentanoic acid than those of present sheet tobacco. The rolled processed sheet tobacco using orient scraps was higher 2-methyl butanoic, 3-methyl butanoic and 3-methyl Pentanoic acid than those of paper sheet tobacco using orient scraps. The sample cigarettes using orient scraps sheet tobacco were lower 2-methyl butanoic, 3-mettwl butanoic and 3-mettwl Pentanoic acid than those of control cigarettes. The result of sensory test showed no great difference compared with sample of orient scraps and control cigarettes. This result shows that we can possible to substitute orient leaf to orient scraps to reduce the cost of orient leaf.

  • As one way of weight saving of the vehicle, 1-piece typed lower control arm has been developed using high strength hot rolled steel sheet. In order to overcome the edge splitting problem during edge flanging or burring process, HER (hole expansion ratio) value of steel sheet was primarily considered. The strength grade of steel sheet and the shape were optimized utilizing Taguchi method.

  • The plastic strain ratio is one of the factors of the deep drawability of metal sheets. The plastic strain ratio of Al sheet is low value. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the plastic strain ratio in order to improve the deep drawability of the Al sheet. This study investigated the increase in the plastic strain ratio and the texture change of AA1050 Al sheet after the hot asymmetric rolling. The average plastic strain ratio of initial AA1050 Al sheets was 0.41. After 84% hot asymmetric rolling at $400^{\circ}C$, the average plastic strain ratio was 0.77. The average plastic strain ratio of 84% hot asymmetrically rolled AA1050 Al sheet at $400^{\circ}C$ is 1.9 times higher than that of initial AA1050 Al sheet. The ${\mid}{\Delta}R{\mid}$ of 84% hot asymmetrically rolled AA1050 Al sheet at $400^{\circ}C$ is 1/2 times lower than that of initial AA1050 Al sheet. This result is due to the development of the intensity of the ${\gamma}-fiber$ texture and the decrease of the intensity of {001}<100> texture after the hot asymmetric rolling of AA1050 Al sheet.

  • The Goss texture component of {110}<001> is well known as one of the best texture components to improve the magnetic properties of electrical steel sheets. The small amount of the Goss texture component is obtained at the surface of the steel sheet by shear deformation due to friction between the steel sheet and the roll during conventional symmetric rolling. This study aims to identify a method to obtain high intensity of the Goss texture component not only at the surface but in the whole layer of the steel sheet by shear deformation of asymmetric rolling. Low carbon steel sheets, which have different initial texture, were asymmetrically rolled by about 50%, 70%, and 80%. The pole figures of the top, center, and bottom layers of the initial and asymmetrically rolled low carbon steel sheets were measured by an X-ray diffractometer. Based on the measured pole figures of these samples, the intensities of the main texture components were analyzed for the initial and asymmetrically rolled low carbon steel sheets. As a result, the initial low carbon steel sheet with the γ-fiber component showed a higher intensity of the Goss texture component in the whole layer than the steel sheet with other texture components after asymmetric rolling.
