공기스프링 현가장치 성능해석 (Analysis of rear suspension using airspring)

  • This paper presents a method for evaluating the performance of a leaf spring suspension and an air spring suspension systems for trucks in terms of ride and handling. Leaf springs, which generally have non-linear progressive force-deflection characteristics, are modeled using beam and contact elements. The leaf spring analysis model shows good correlation with experimental results. Each component of an air spring suspension system, which is a single leaf, air spring, height control valve, compressor and linkages, is modeled appropriately. Non-linear characteristics of air spring are accounted for using the measured data, and pressure and volume relations for height control system is also considered. The wheel rate of the air suspension is taken lower but roll stiffness is taken higher than those of leaf springs to improve ride and handling performance, which is verified through driving simulations.

  • A time-varying nonlinear mathematical model was derived to consider the effect of change in roll radius on tension varation during winding and unwinding. A variable-gain PID controller was designed for tension control at start and stop in a multi-span continuous process system. The controller gains are updated at every control loop as roll radii continuously change. Computer simulation was carried out by using the mathematical model and the controller developed for a typical operating condition including acceleration and deceleration. When the variable-gain PID controller was used, the tension control performance was improved compared with that of existing control method during start-up and stop.

  • Sufficient energy charging during a day is essential for a solar-powered long-endurance aircraft. Variations of flight path that is superior to a basic circle path are sought in this study for more efficient charging. Flight path associated with roll and pitch attitudes are investigated. It seems that the pitch angle can play more important role than the roll angle for the solar charging efficiency. Thus, more energy charging is observed when the entire flight path is tilted toward the direction of the sun.

마이크로 피부침을 이용한 FITC-OVA의 경피흡수 (Transdermal Delivery of FITC-Ovalbumin with Microneedle System)

  • For transdermal delivery of large molecular drugs such as vaccine and protein drugs, novel microneedle treatment device with roll was designed. The roll dimension is 1.43 cm diameter and 2.8 cm perimeter. Total number of microneedle on the roll is 3,360 with $230\;{\mu}m$ height and $740\;{\mu}m$ distance. The pore with $150\;{\mu}m$ depth and $35\;{\mu}m$ diameter on the skin was made by the designed microneedle device. This system could be achieved without pain. The permeation rates of FITC labelled ovalbumin (FITC-OVA, molecular weight: 45,000 g/mol) as a model protein were determined by modified Franz diffusion cells using skins of hairless mice or SD rats which were treated by using microneedle device two or four times. The average penetration fluxes of model protein increased from 674 to $872\;{\mu}g/cm^{2}{\cdot}hr$ as the number of treatment to make pore increased from two to four times. In conclusion, we confirmed the possibility of using the designed microneedle treatment device for transdermal delivery of the large molecular drugs.

Moving Mass Actuated Reentry Vehicle Control Based on Trajectory Linearization

  • The flight control of re-entry vehicles poses a challenge to conventional gain-scheduled flight controllers due to the widely spread aerodynamic coefficients. In addition, a wide range of uncertainties in disturbances must be accommodated by the control system. This paper presents the design of a roll channel controller for a non-axisymmetric reentry vehicle model using the trajectory linearization control (TLC) method. The dynamic equations of a moving mass system and roll control model are established using the Lagrange method. Nonlinear tracking and decoupling control by trajectory linearization can be viewed as the ideal gain-scheduling controller designed at every point along the flight trajectory. It provides robust stability and performance at all stages of the flight without adjusting controller gains. It is this "plug-and-play" feature that is highly preferred for developing, testing and routine operating of the re-entry vehicles. Although the controller is designed only for nominal aerodynamic coefficients, excellent performance is verified by simulation for wind disturbances and variations from -30% to +30% of the aerodynamic coefficients.

안티롤링 진자를 장치한 선박의 점성감쇠계 해석에 대한 연구 (A Study on Viscous Damping System of a Ship with Anti-Rolling Pendulum)

  • 부유체의 횡동요는 승조원의 피로를 누적시키고, 심지어 구조물 전체를 전복시키기까지 하고, 또 선체에 반복적인 외력을 가하는 등 부유체의 안정성과 구조물의 안전에 심대한 영향을 끼친다. 그래서 거의 모든 선박의 경우에는 빌지킬을 설치하여 횡동요를 감소시키고 있고, 특수한 경우에는 안티롤링 탱크나 핀 스태빌라이저나 자이로스코프 등을 설치하여 횡동요를 줄이고 있다. 그러나 안티롤링 탱크는 설치하는데 용적을 많이 차지하고, 핀 스태빌라이저나 자이로스코프는 설치비와 유지 관리비가 많이 든다. 저자들은 안티롤링진자를 이용한 부유체의 롤링저감에 대한 연구를 하여 실험과 Runge-Kutta 해석에 의하여 그 유효성을 보인 바 있다. 여기에서는 선박에 안티 롤링 진자를 설치한 모델을 2자유도 점성감쇠계로 선형화하여 시스템을 해석하고 실험과 비교하여 수학 모델의 정당성을 보이고, 수학 모델의 정당성을 바탕으로 최적의 안티 롤링 진자를 제안한다. 7.7kg의 모형선의 경우 모형선 질량의 0.26%인 20g의 안티롤링 진자가 가장 효율이 좋음을 보였다. 또 안티 롤링 진자의 질량이 다른 몇 가지 경우에 대하여서 자유 롤링 실험을 하여 안티 롤링 진자의 유효성을 보인다.

토모테라피 치료 시 Bodyfix System에서 진공압박에 따른 환자 위치잡이오차(Setup errors)의 평가 (Evaluation of Setup Errors for Tomotherapy Using Differently Applied Vacuum Compression with the Bodyfix Immobilization System)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 토모테라피(Hi-ArtII, TomoTherapy, USA) 치료 시 Bodyfix system (Medical Intelligence, Ele-kta, Schwabmuchen, Germany)에서 진공압박(Vacuum compression)에 따라 환자 위치잡이오차(Patient's setup-errors)를 평가하고자 하였다. Bodyfix system와 진공압박을 적용한 토모테라피를 이용하여 치료를 시행한 흉복부 환자 21명을 선정하였으며, 모든 환자는 치료 전 촬영된 총 477개의 메가볼테이지 전산화단층촬영(Mega-voltage computed tomography, MVCT)영상을 얻었다. 이를 통하여 확인된 좌우방향(Medial-Lateral direction, ML), 앞뒤방향(Anterior-Posterior direction, AP), 상하방향(Superior-Inferior direction, SI)과 SI중심축 회전각(Rotational angle of SI axis direction, Roll)에 대한 오차를 기록하고, 분석하였다. 세 방향 및 Roll에 대한 상관관계와 진공압박 정도가 다르게 적용된 다섯 그룹에 대하여 setup-errors를 분석하기 위해 각각 Pearson's product-moment coefficient와 One-way ANOVA를 이용하여 통계적으로 분석하였다(p<0.05). 분석결과 Systematic errors의 평균은 AP에서 6.00 mm, 표준편차는 SI에서 5.95 mm로 큰 오차를 보였다. Random errors의 평균은 SI방향에서 4.72 mm로 큰 오차가 발생하였다. 관계분석에서는 상관계수가 ML-Roll과 AP-Vector는 0.485, 0.244이고, SI-Vector에서 관계가 제일 높았다(0.637). 또한, 진공압박 정도가 다르게 적용된 다섯 그룹(Pressure range: 30~70 mbar) 사이의 setup errors를 분석한 결과 ML, SI방향과 Roll에서 모두 p=0.00 (p<0.05)로써 유의한 차이를 보였으며, SI방향에서 진공압박에 따른 오차 평균은 40 mbar과 70 mbar그룹에서 4.78 mm, -0.74 mm였다. 본 연구에서는 진공압박과 setup-errors의 평가를 통계적으로 분석하였으며, 압박 정도에 따라 SI방향에서 setup-errors의 차이를 확인하였다. 최종적으로 setup-errors와 내부장기의 움직임을 고려하자면 Bodyfix system을 이용한 진공압박을 적용시 최소 50 mbar 이상을 사용해야 할 것이다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 진공압박의 정확성과 내부장기 및 종양의 움직임을 정량적으로 분석할 필요가 있다고 판단된다.

3-D Optimal Evasion of Air-to-Surface Missiles against Proportionally Navigated Defense Missiles

  • In this paper, we investigate three dimensional optimal evasive maneuver patterns for air-to-surface attack missiles against proportionally navigated anti-air defense missiles. Interception error of the defense missile can be generated by evasive maneuver of the attack missile during the time of flight for which the defense missile intercepts the attack missile. Time varying weighted sum of the inverse of these interception errors forms a performance index to be minimized. Direct parameter optimization technique using CFSQP is adopted to get the attack missile's optimal evasive maneuver patterns according to parameter changes of both the attack missile and the defense missile such as maneuver limit and time constant of autopilot approximated by the 1st order lag system. The overall shape of resultant optimal evasive maneuver to enhance the survivability of air-to-surface missiles against proportionally navigated anti-air missiles is a kind of deformed barrel roll.

The Effect of Roll and Pitch Motion on Ship Magnetic Signature

  • The roll- and pitch-induced eddy currents create a magnetic field that contributes to the total magnetic signature of naval vessels. The magnetic signature is of concern, as it exposes the ship to the threat of modern influence mines. It is estimated that the eddy current is the second most important source contributing to a ship's underwater magnetic field following the ferromagnetic effect. In the present paper, the finite element (FE) method is used to predict the eddy current signature of a real ship. The FE model is validated using the measurements of the Canadian research vessel CFAV QUEST at the Earth's Field Simulator (EFS) in Schirnau, Germany. Modeling and validation of the eddy current magnetic signature for a real ship represents a novelty in the field. It is shown that the characteristics of this signature depend on frequency. Based on these results, a ship's degaussing system could be improved to cancel both the ferromagnetic and the eddy current contribution to the magnetic signature simultaneously, reducing the susceptibility to sea mines.

포항2열연 조압연스탠드(RM) 유압연시스템의 개발과 적용 (Application of hot rolling oil lubrication on RM stands at Pohang Hot Rolling Mill No.2)

  • Application of hot roiling oil lubrication technology was broadened to the field of RM stands of Hot Rolling Mill at Pohang works. The primary object was to improve the quality of the strip sttrface and the rolls by oil lubrication in hot rolling process. Prior to the actual field application preliminary test was conducted to evaluate the effect of hot rolling oil lubrication at RM stands. From the test, it has been found that the use of oil lubrication tends to prevent the progression of the heat cracks and thereby increases the quality of the strip surface and the wear life of the rolls. New hot rolling oil lubrication system was applied to the RM stands VSB, R1, R2, R3, R4 and edger rolls. With the introduction of a rolling lubricant, the quality of the strip surface and rolls was improved and overall roll dressing has decreased. Also there has been a improvement of productivity from the long roll life.
