Geomagnetic sensors are widely utilized for sensing heading direction of quadrotors. However, measurement from a geomagnetic sensor is easily corrupted by environmental magnetic field interference and roll/pitch directional motion. In this paper, a measurement method of a quadrotor heading direction is proposed for application to yaw attitude control. In order to eliminate roll/pitch directional motion effect, the geomagnetic sensor data is compensated using the roll/pitch angles measured for stabilization control. In addition, yaw-directional angular velocity data from a gyroscope sensor is fused with the geomagnetic sensor data using a complementary filter which is a simple and intuitive sensor fusion method. The proposed method is applied to experiments, and the results are presented to prove validity and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Thrust vector control system is control device which is mounted exit of the nozzle to generate pitch, yaw and roll directional force by deflecting flow direction of the supersonic jet from the nozzle. By obtaining control force, jetvane which is exposed in jet flow is working thermal and aerodynamic load. Axial thrust loss and side thrust is affected by shock patterns and interactions between jetvanes according to jetvane geometry and turning angle. In this study, we designed 6 types of jetvane to evaluate pitch, yaw and roll characteristics of ietvane in supersonic flow, and perform the cold flow test in range of turning angles of jetvanes between $0^{\cire}$ and $25^{\cire}$ by $5^{\cire}$ respectively. Also, calculation is going side by side to analyse flow interaction. Results show that there is no interactions between jetvanes upto turning angle 20$^{\circ}$, chord and lead length ratio is very important parameter to aerodynamic performance and maximum thrust loss is appeard to 17% of axial thrust in roll directional control.

Up to now, it has been common to treat the maneuvering motion of a ship as a 3-degree-freedom motion i.e. surge, sway and yaw on the sea surface, for the simplicity and mathematical calculation, and it is quite acceptable in the practical point of view. Meanwhile, considering the maneuverability of a ship under the special conditions such as in irregular waves, in wind or at high speed with small GM value, it is required that roll effect must be considered in the equation of ship motion. In this paper the author tried to build up the 4-degree-freedom motion equation by adding roll. And then, applying the M.M.G.'s mathematical model and with captive model test results the roll-coupled hydrodynamic derivatives were found. With these the author could make some simulating program for turning and zig-zag steering. Through the computer simulations, the effect of roll to the ship maneuver became clear. The effect of the wind force to the maneuverability was also found. Followings are such items that was found. 1) When roll is coupled in the maneuvering motion, the directional stability becomes worse and the turning diameter becomes smaller as roll becomes smaller as roll becomes larger. 2) When maneuver a ship in the wind, the roll becomes severe and the directional stability becomes worse. 3) When a ship turns to the starboard side, the wind blowing from 90 degree direction to starboard causes the largest roll and the largest turning diameter, and the wind from other direction doesn't change the turning diameter. 4) When a ship is travelling with a constant speed with rudder amidship, if steady wind blows from one direction, the ship turns toward that wind. This phenomenon is observed in the actual seaways.

In ship operation, the roll motions can seriously degrade the performance of mechanical and personnel effectiveness. So many studies for the roll stabilization system design have been performed and good results have been achieved. In many studies, the stabilizing fins are used. Recently rudders, which have been extensively modified, have been used exclusively to stabilize the roll. But, in the roll stabilization control system, the control performance is very sensitive to the ship speed. So, we can see that it is important to consider the ship speed in the rudder roll control system design. The gain-scheduling control technique is very useful in the control problem incorporating time varying parameters which can be measured in real time. Based on this fact, in this paper we examine the;$H_{\infty}$-Gain Scheduling control design technique. Therefore, we assume that a parameter, the ship speed which can be estimated in real time, is varying and apply the gain-scheduling control technique to design the course keeping and anti-rolling control system far a ship. In this control system, the controller dynamics is adjusted in real-time according to time-varying plant parameters. The simulation result shows that the proposed control strategy is shown to be useful for cases when the ship speed is varying and robust to disturbances like wind and wave.

This paper performs static and dynamic tests of a multi-leaf spring and a tapered leaf spring to investigate their hysteretic characteristics. In the static test, trapezoidal input load is applied with 0.1Hz excitation frequency and with zero initial loading conditions. In the dynamic test, sinusoidal input load is applied with five excitation amplitudes and three excitation frequencies. In these tests, static and dynamic hysteretic characteristics of the multi-leaf spring and the tapered leaf spring are compared, and, the effects of excitation amplitudes and frequencies on dynamic spring rate are also shown. In this paper, actual vehicle tests are performed to study the effects of hysteretic characteristics of the large-sized truck's handling performance. The multi-leaf spring or the tapered leaf spring is used in the front suspension. The actual vehicle test is performed in a double lane change track with three velocities. Lateral acceleration, yaw rate and roll angle are measured using a gyro-meter located at the mass center of the cab. The test results showed that a large-sized truck with a tapered leaf spring needs to have an additional apparatus such as roll stabilizer bar to increase the roll stabilizer due to hysteretic characteristics.
In this paper, a high performance underwater vehicle which can be manufactured at low cost is designed and fabricated, and its performance is verified through experiments. To improve efficiency, the Myring equation is used to design the appearance and the duct structure including the thruster is planned to increase the propulsion efficiency while reducing the drag force. Through various methods, it is secured stable waterproof performance, and also is devised to have high speed movement and turning performance. The developed underwater vehicle is equipped with a high output BLDC motor to achieve a linear speed of up to 2 m/s and can change direction rapidly with stability through four rudders. The rudders are driven by coupling a timing belt and a pulley by extending the axis of a servo motor, and are equipped at the end of the body to turn heading. In addition, for stable posture control, the roll keeps its internal center of gravity low and maintains its stability due to restoring force. By controlling the four rudders, pitch and yaw are handled by the PID controller and show stable performance. To investigate the horizontal turning performance, it is confirmed that the yaw rate controller is designed and stable yaw rate control is performed.
The field of robots is being widely accepted as a new technology today. Many robots are produced continuously to impart amusement to people. Especially the robot which operates with a wheelbarrow was enough of a work of art to arouse excitement in the audiences. All the wheelbarrow robots share the same technology in that the direction of roll and pitch are acting as balance controllers, allowing the robots to maintain balance for a long period by continuously moving forward and backward. However one disadvantage of this technology is that they cannot avoid obstacles in their way. Therefore movement in sideways is a necessity. For the control of rotation of yawing direction, the angle and direction of rotation are adjusted according to the velocity and torque of rotation of a motor. Therefore this study aimed to inquire into controlling yawing direction, which is responsible for rotation of a robot. This was followed by creating a simulation of a wheelbarrow robot and equipping the robot with a yawing direction controlling device in the center of the body so as to allow sideway movements.

In this study, the shapes of the wheel and rail are represented by using 3-dimensional surface functions with surface parameters and a 3-dimensional wheel-rail contact analysis is presented. A whole numerical solution of wheel-rail contact at tread and flange including 2-point contacts can be achieved with the proposed numerical algorithm. Kinematic characteristics such as variances of vertical displacement and roll angle, and variance of wheel radius difference for arbitrary yaw and lateral displacement of wheelset, are determined for the KTX wheel-rail pair as an example. The condition of yaw and lateral displacement occurring 2-point contacts to analyze derailment are compared between standard and worn wheels. Differences of contact characteristics between curved and straight rails are also analyzed.
Final aim of this paper is a study on simulation of automatic steering of a ship in random seas. In order to achieve this aim, we need excitation due to random seas. The excitation may be estimated from energy spectrum of irregular waves and response functions of manoeuvring motion of a ship in regular waves. This paper deals with response functions of manoeuvring motion of a ship in regular waves. We discussed New Strip Method(NSM) of sway-yaw-roll coupled motions in regular waves. NSM is defined in space axes system and that has been used to predict seakeeping performance of a ship in waves. But ship manoeuvring is defined in body fixed axes system. So we cannot use NSM theory itself in predicting manoeuvring performance of a ship in waves. We introduced relationship between space axes system and body fixed axes system. And we developed modified NSM which was defined in body fixed axes system and was able to be used in manoeuvring motion of a ship in waves. We calculated sway and yaw response functions of manoeuvring motion of a bulk carrier in regular waves.

This paper considers a fault tolerant control problem for a spacecraft using wheels which are momentum exchanging devices. The control of a satellite with only two healthy wheels has been studied and its result has been presented. Two different configurations have been considered. When the yaw rate cannot be controlled directly by any control input, the desired yaw rate can be obtained by using the roll rate as a pseudo control. As a result, all three angular speeds have been stabilized, and two attitude angles including pitch and yaw have been controlled to converge to the desired values.
