  • Under the Korean mental health circumstances where familistic culture is predominant and social resources are limited, siblings are an important presence that effect chronically mentally ill people's lives. Despite this fact, our society in some aspect overlooks their importance. Therefore, this study is focused on the role of siblings as caregivers of chronically mentally ill adults and is conducted to understand the relevant process and types of how siblings fulfill the role of caregivers. In order to achieve this goal, data was collected from nine study participants through individual interviews and focus group interviews and its contents were analyzed according to Grounded Theory. The results revealed that the siblings' experiences as caregivers of chronically mentally ill people were mainly categorized as 'carrying painful memory, responsibility, and concern about the obscure future of the mentally ill sibling and finding a caring role different from those of parents.' Moreover three types of sibling caregivers were recognized: 'reality-adapting, obligation fulfilling' type, 'sacrificial self-responsibility fulfilling' type, and 'growing guardianship creator' type. This research aimed to vividly deliver the voices of research participants and proposed social support and permanent planning services based on the experiences and desires unique to siblings.

  • This study analyzed Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR hereafter) of construction companies, especially focusing on small-medium companies. Surveys on construction companies' CSR activities and intensive interview with experts were executed to analyze and draw some implications. The empirical results shows that most of construction companies feel keenly necessity of CSR. The level of small-medium companies' awareness is lower than that of large companies'. CEO and board members of small-medium companies are less concerned about CSR yet. Carrying CSR activities co-working with NGO is preferred because of expertise and network. This study also suggests future strategy for CSR in the construction industry, focusing on small-medium companies. First of all it is necessary for small-medium companies to enhance the level of awareness and encourage participation in CSR. Second, it is required to strengthen relation with NGO and share information for CSR. Third, it is really significant to strengthen budget support and secure personnel to activate CSR. The systematic support by gevernment is also important. Lastly, it is essential to mount a publicity campaign and develop various CSR program. The role of 'Construction Industry Foundation for Social Responsibility' is emphasized because small-medium companies have very little room for CSR.

  • In Korean society, church once witnessed the period of its being considered light and salt. After the liberation, Korean church bestowed Jesus Christ's love to underprivileged neighbors in the industrialization process and organized practical participation activities for human rights and democratization. Nonetheless, church was sunken into quantitative growth without having qualitative growth. As church was cited as the epicenter of the spreading COVID-19, the image of selfish church has started receiving attention and there has appeared a criticism for immoral church tendency, which brought low trust about church. These things are resulted from church's failure to undertake its role with responsibility, in society. Such as this, church has lost its identity as the model of the Kingdom of God. In such a situation, church needs to remind itself of the enlightenment of the Ecumenical Movement, in order to recover trust and perform its mission. The Ecumenical Movement means accomplishing unification of the universe through a renewed church. This movement is aimed to create the earth as 'where humans can stay' and to consider the sustainability of mankinds. This purpose of this study is to examine political activities conducted for responsible participation in the church world and to find the way for church roles in this world. This researcher will attempt to investigate educational methods to help Christians in this world take full responsibility given to them, through an educational discussion about Christianity made in this context. This educational attempt means, in other words, political affairs also.

  • Samsung Tesco is a representative company that is successfully enforcing 'sustainable management' through creative, systematic corporate responsibility (CR). The concentration on CR is because of the fact that the modern society expects companies to do a role as a social citizen. For this reason, Samsung Tesco emphasizes that the cost of carrying on CR is an important factor in business which leads to a positive cycle in business, and accordingly is rather an investment than a cost. The reason why Samsung Tesco proclaimed its resolution to make best efforts on CR is because Samsung Tesco thinks CR is a necessary task and responsibility of a company. Samsung Tesco is doing various activities continuously, and is investing by increasing its costs on CR and systemizing the organization. Consequently, Samsung Tesco is being evaluated as the first and best innovative company in the distribution industry. This case study firstly shows the actual conditions of domestic companies in doing CR. Secondly, it analyzes how Samsung Tesco is carrying out the cultural, sharing, and environmental CR. And lastly, it gives some strategic points on successful CR.

  • Consumers demand that corporates fulfill their social responsibility by exerting influence over not only economical values but also social values in markets. Given such a social mood, most corporates are actively engaging in Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) activities, and marketing scholars continue to study the effects of such CSR activities. Numerous such studies examined the relationship between CSR activity and brand equity. Moreover, virtually, a majority of these studies focused on consumer responses to CSR activity from an individual brand perspective. In a situation in which brand management must consider the spillover effects of brands, firms holding various brands should consider these spillover effects when they establish CSR activity strategies. Therefore, we examine the effects of CSR activity using a comprehensive approach that considers the hierarchy of brands. Additionally, we develop a new perspective on fit that has been used as a major influence on the effects of CSR activity. We argue that the mixed results of the impact of fit regarding the effect of CSR activities is attributed to the influence of connections among brands based on the hierarchy of brands. We then examine the effect of two types of CSR activity strategies that reflect the relativity of fit. The results reveal that there was no difference in impact of the two strategies based on unique roles and traits of corporate brand and effects of low fit. Also, we found that the corporate brand focused strategy creates a greater change in consumers' attitudes than does an individual brand focused strategy in the case of a particular brand. This finding is meaningful because it indicates that a hierarchy of brands may relatively reduce the impact of the role of fit, unlike general arguments from previous related research. Second, the spillover effects from the CSR activities of individual sub-brands belonging to the same corporate brand were confirmed. Therefore, we clearly verified the role of the hierarchy of brands. Although both strategies cause changes in consumer attitude toward brands engaged in CSR activity, overall, a corporate brand focused strategy turned out to be more effective than an individual brand focused strategy because of the spillover effects of brands. Third, this study verified the effect of a corporate brand focused strategy through a moderating effect analysis of the degree of association between individual brands and corporate brand. Given these results, we identified a moderating role in the degree of association and the changes in consumer attitudes toward both main brands engaged in CSR activities and other different individual brands, which were caused by the spillover effects of brands. Finally, this study addresses implications and limitations.
