  • A remote controlled mobile robot system has been developed and tested to monitor the radiation area in the nuclear power plant. The mobile robot system operates according to car-driving-like commands and is capable of radiation measurement and visual inspection in unmanned situations under radiation. The robot system is equipped with a radiation sensor and two cameras with appropriate illumination set-ups. The camera with auto-focus function and 8-times zoom lens is mounted on the pan/tilt rotational base and the other is mounted on the front panel of the robot system. All commands regarding the motion of the mobile robot and various sensors are given through the monitoring system which is designed to provide an integrated man-machine interface.

  • The Kalman filter has been used as a self-localization method for the mobile robot. To satisfy the assumptions inherent in the Kalman filter, we should calibrate the sensors of the robot before use of them. However, it is generally hard to find exact sensor parameters, and the parameters may change during the robot task as the environment varies. Thus we need to perform on-line sensor calibration, by which we can obtain more credible location of the mobile robot. In this paper, we present an on-line sensor calibration scheme which estimates the unknown sensor bias and the current position of the robot. To this end, first we find out the calibration errors of the sensor from redundant sensory data using the parity vector and recursive minimum variance estimation. Then we calculate the current position of the robot by weighted least square estimation without internal encoder data. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated through computer simulation.

  • When a task requires two robot arms to move in a cooperative manner sharing a common workspace, potential collision exists between the two robot arm . In this paper, a novel approach for collision-free trajectory planning along paths of two SCARA-type robot arms is presented. Specifically, in order to describe potential collision between the links of two moving robot arms along the designated paths, an explicit form of "Virtual Obstacle" is adopted, according to which links of one robot arm are made to grow while the other robot arm is forced to shrink as a point on the path. Then, a notion of "Coordination Chart" is introduced to visualize the collision-free relationship of two trajectories.of two trajectories.

  • In this research, we propose a path-planning algorithm for an autonomous mobile robot using geographical information, under the condition that the robot moves in unknown environment. All image inputted by camera at every sampling time are analyzed and geographical elements are recognized, and the geographical information is embedded in environmental map. The geographical information was transformed into 1-dimensional evaluation value that expressed the difficulty of movement for the robot. The robot goes toward the goal searching for path that minimizes the evaluation value at every sampling time. Then, the path is updated by integrating the exploited information and the prediction on unexploited environment. We used a sensor fusion method for improving the mobile robot dead reckoning accuracy. The experiment results that confirm the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm on the robot's reaching the goal successfully using geographical information are presented.

  • Robot control system considers various requirements. Firstly, it needs adaptation for unpredictable and dynamic environment. Secondly, it needs way to make do not injurious action to human because live with a person. Thirdly, it needs processing about aim of robots. In this paper proposed that these requirements effective robot control architecture. Robot control architecture can divide Deliberative, Reactive, Hybrid. Recently, robot control architecture that come Deliberative and use hybrid architecture that apply advantage of Reactive architecture is studied much. Hybrid control purpose to combine the real-time response of Reactive with the rationality of Deliberative. Our purpose is enhancement of hybrid architecture that is studied in these days. Proposed architecture that applied human's nervous system can reduce relativity between each module of existent architecture and drive response speed guarantee and safe robot action.

  • In this paper, we introduce biped walking robot which can static walking with 22 degree-of-freedoms. The developed biped walking robot is 480mm tall and 2500g, and 22 RC servo motors are used to actuate. Before made an active algorithm, we generated the motions of robot with the motion simulator which developed using by C language. The two dimension simulator is Based on the inverse kinematics and D-H transform. The simulator implements various motions as inputted the ankle's trajectory. Also we developed a simulator which is applied the principle of inverted pendulum to acquires the center of gravity. As we use this simulator, we can get the best appropriate angle of ankle and pelvis when the robot lifts up its one side leg during the working. We implement the walking motions which is based on the data(angle) getting from both of simulators. The robot can be controlled by text shaped command through RF signal of wireless modem which connected with laptop computer by serial cable.

  • This paper describes a control method of a robot cooperating with a human. A task in which a robot and a human move an object cooperatively is considered. To develop the force controller of the robot, the characteristics of human arm are investigated. The arm is forced to move along a trajectory in the experiment and the exerted force and the displacement are analyzed, It is found the force characteristics of the human arm is regarded as an optimal damper with minimizing a cost function. Then, the model is implemented to a robot and the cooperation of the robot and a human operator is examined. The effectiveness of the derived model is investigated and the experimental results show that the human moves the object supported by the robot with a minimum jerk trajectory.

  • This paper describes a fuzzy steering controller for an autonomous mobile robot with MR sensor. Using the magnetic field(Bx, By, Bz) obtained from the MR sensor, we designed fuzzy controller for driving on the road center. Fuzzy rule base was built to magnetic field(Bx, By, Bz). To develop an autonomous mobile robot simulation program, we have done modeling MR sensor, dynamic model of mobile robot and coordinate transformation. A computer simulation of the robot including mobile robot dynamics and steering was used to verify the steering performance of the mobile robot controller using the fuzzy logic Good results were obtained by computer simulation. So, we confirmed the robustness of the proposed fuzzy controller by computer ...

  • In this paper, a motion control algorithm is developed using a fuzzy control and the optimization of performance function, which makes a robot arm avoid an unexpected obstacle when the end-effector of the robot arm is moving to the goal position. During the motion, if there exists no obstacle, the end-effector of the robot arm moves along the pre-defined path. But if there exists an obstacle and close to the robot arm, the fuzzy motion controller is activated to adjust the path of the end-effector of the robot arm. Then, the robot arm takes the optimal posture for collision avoidance with the obstacle. To show the feasibility of the developed algorithm, numerical simulations are carried out with changing both the positions and sizes of obstacles. It was concluded ...
