  • Recently, consumers who prefer contactless consumption are increasing due to pandemic trends such as Corona 19. This is the driving force for developing the last mile-based logistics ecosystem centered on the online e-commerce market. Lastmile led to the continued development of the logistics industry, but increased the amount of cargo in urban area, and caused social problems such as overcrowding of logistics. The courier service in the logistics base area utilizes the process of visiting the delivery site directly because the courier must precede the loading work of the cargo in the truck for the delivery of the ordered product. Currently, it's carried out as automated logistics equipment such as conveyor belt in unloading or classification stage, but the automation system isn't applied, so the work efficiency is decreasing and the intensity of the courier worker's labor is increased. In particular, small-scale courier workers belonging to the sub-terminal unload at night at underdeveloped facilities outside the city center. Therefore, the productivity of the work is lowered and the risk of safety accidents is exposed, so robot-based loading technology is needed. In this paper, we have derived the top-level concept and requirements of robot-based loading system to increase the flexibility of logistics processing and to ensure the safety of courier drivers. We defined algorithms and motion concepts to increase the cargo loading efficiency of logistics sub-terminals through the requirements of end effector technology, which is important among concepts. Finally, the control technique was proposed to determine and position the load for design input development of the automatic conveyor system.

  • Household service robots should be able to provide their users with a variety of temporal reasoning services. In this paper, we propose an effective way of developing such temporal reasoning services using a domain-independent AI planner. Developing temporal reasoning services with a domain-independent AI planner, we have to address both the knowledge engineering problem of how to represent various real-world temporal constraints in a planning domain definition language, and the system design problem of how to realize the interface between the AI planner and the service consumer. In this paper, we introduce an example scenario and a set of typical temporal constraints for a household service robot, and then present how to represent them in the standard planning domain definition language. We also explain how to implement a service agent based on an AI planner in order to develop and provide new services efficiently.

  • Multi-agent systems can be utilized in various real-world cooperative environments such as battlefield engagements and unmanned transport vehicles. In the context of battlefield engagements, where dense reward design faces challenges due to limited domain knowledge, it is crucial to consider situations that are learned through explicit sparse rewards. This paper explores the collaborative potential among allied agents in a battlefield scenario. Utilizing the Multi-Robot Warehouse Environment(RWARE) as a sparse reward environment, we define analogous problems and establish evaluation criteria. Constructing a learning environment with the QMIX algorithm from the reinforcement learning library Ray RLlib, we enhance the Agent Network of QMIX and integrate Random Network Distillation(RND). This enables the extraction of patterns and temporal features from partial observations of agents, confirming the potential for improving the acquisition of sparse reward experiences through intrinsic rewards.

  • The logistics industry is converging with digital technology and growing into various logistics automation systems. However, inspection and loading/unloading, which are mainly performed in logistics work, depend on human resources, and the workforce is shrinking due to the decline in the productive population due to the low birth rate and aging. Although much research is being conducted on the development of automated logistics systems to solve these problems, there is a lack of research and development on load stacking stability, which has the potential to cause significant accidents. In this study, loading boxes with various sizes and positions of the center of gravity were set up, and a method for stacking that with high stability is presented. The size of the loading box is measured using a depth camera. The loading box's weight and center of gravity are measured and estimated by a developed device with four loadcells. The measurement error is measured through various repeated experiments and is corrected using the least squares method. The robot arm performs load stacking by determining the target position so that the centers of gravity of the loading boxes with unbalanced masses with a random sequence are transported in alignment. All processes were automated, and the results were verified by experimentally confirming load stacking stability.

  • The diversity of smart EV(electric vehicle)-related industries is increasing due to the growth of battery-based eco-friendly electric vehicle component material technology, and labor-intensive industries such as logistics, manufacturing, food, agriculture, and service have invested in and studied automation for a long time. Accordingly, various types of robots such as autonomous mobile robots and collaborative robots are being utilized for each process to improve industrial engineering such as optimization, productivity management, and work management. The technology that should accompany this unmanned automobile industry is unmanned automatic charging technology, and if autonomous mobile robots are manually charged, the utility of autonomous mobile robots will not be maximized. In this paper, we conducted a study on the technology of unmanned charging of autonomous mobile robots using charging terminal docking and undocking technology using an unmanned charging system composed of hardware such as a monocular camera, multi-joint robot, gripper, and server. In an experiment to evaluate the performance of the system, the average charging terminal recognition rate was 98%, and the average charging terminal recognition speed was 0.0099 seconds. In addition, an experiment was conducted to evaluate the docking and undocking success rate of the charging terminal, and the experimental results showed an average success rate of 99%.

  • In this paper, we develop the path planning algorithm using the improved Dijkstra algorithm and the particle swarm optimization. To get the optimal path, at first we construct the MAKLINK on the world environment and then make a graph associated with the MAKLINK. From the graph, we obtain the Dijkstra path between the starting point and the destination point. From the optimal path, we search the improved Dijkstra path using the graph. Finally, applying the particle swarm optimization to the improved Dijkstra path, we obtain the optimal path for the mobile robot. It turns out that the proposed method has better performance than the result in [1].

  • This paper describes an algorithm for minimal turning complete coverage Path planning for cleaning robots. This algorithm divides the whole cleaning area by cellular decomposition, and then provides the path planning among the cells employing a flow network. It also provides specific path planning inside each cell guaranteeing the minimal turning of the robots. The minimal turning of the robots is directly related to the faster motion and energy saving. The proposed algorithm is compared with previous approaches in simulation and the result shows the validity of the algorithm.

  • This paper suggests a hybrid path planning method of multi-robots, where a path deviation prevention for maintaining a specific formation is implemented by using repulsive function, $A^*$ algorithm and UKF (Unscented Kalman Filter). The repulsive function in potential field method is used to avoid collision among robots and obstacles. $A^*$ algorithm helps the robots to find optimal path. In addition, error estimation based on UKF guarantees small path deviation of each robot during navigation. The simulation results show that the swarm robots with designated formation successfully avoid obstacles and return to the assigned formation effectively.

  • An efficient urban outdoor localization and navigation system is proposed for car-like robots. First an accurate outdoor localization method is suggested using line/arc features and 2.5D map matching with LRFs (Laser Range Finders), which can reduce the number of singular cases and increase accuracy. Also, path generation, path tracking, and path modification algorithms are proposed for navigation. All these algorithms are implemented on an electric scooter to construct an autonomous urban outdoor localization and navigation system. Experiments reveal the practicality of the proposed system.
