  • While Defense Agency fur Technology and Quality(DTaQ) has been utilized a risk assessment method as a quality assurance activity for defense goods since 1999, a risk assessment method is known to be ineffective to identify defective items. The objective of this study is to propose the new evaluation method, that adjusts a relative priority of evaluation elements using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process). Newly evaluated scores have been applied to the risk assessment result of 2005 defective items to test a validity of the new evaluation model. The new model is capable to identify more high and medium risk-level items than the current method. The company risk-level gets more scores than the item risk-level in the new model.

  • Risk analysis model is systematic and structural process that considers internal security problems and threat factors of the information systems to find optimal level of security control. But, the risk analysis model is just only defined conceptually and there are not so many empirical studies. This research used structural equation modeling(SEM) research methodology with rigorously validated research instrument. Based on results of this study, risk analysis methodology was proved to be practically useful in e-commerce environment. Factors like threat and control were significantly related to risk. In conclusion, the results of this study can be applied to general situation or environment of information security for analyzing and managing the risk and providing new approach to comprehend concept of risk in e-commerce environment.

  • Purpose: To overcome the question that depends too much on expert's subjective judgment in traditional risk identification, this paper structure the multilevel generalized fuzzy comprehensive evaluation mathematics model of the risk identification of project, to research the risk identification of the project. Research design, data and methodology: This paper constructs the multilevel generalized fuzzy comprehensive evaluation mathematics model. Through iterative algorithm of AHP analysis, make sure the important degree of the sub project in risk analysis, then combine expert's subjective judgment with objective quantitative analysis, and distinguish the risk through identification models. Meanwhile, the concrete method of multilevel generalized fuzzy comprehensive evaluation is probed. Using the index weights to analyse project risks is discussed in detail. Results: The improved fuzzy comprehensive evaluation algorithm is proposed in the paper, at first the method of fuzzy sets core is used to optimize the fuzzy relation matrix. It improves the capability of the algorithm. Then, the method of entropy weight is used to establish weight vectors. This makes the computation process fair and open. And thereby, the uncertainty of the evaluation result brought by the subjectivity can be avoided effectively and the evaluation result becomes more objective and more reasonable. Conclusions: In this paper, we use an improved fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to evaluate a railroad engineering project risk. It can give a more reliable result for a reference of decision making.

  • The growing size and complex process in construction project recently leads to increase risk and the losses as well. Even though researchers have identified the major risk indicators, there is lack of comprehensive and quantitative research for identifying the relationship between the risk indicators and economic losses associated with construction projects. To address this shortage of research, this study defines risk indicators and create a framework to assess the influence of economic losses from the indicators. An insurance company's claim payout record was accepted as the dependent variable to reflect the real economic losses. Based on the claims, we categorized the causes and results of accidents. To establish framework, built environment vulnerability indicators and geographical vulnerability indicators were employed as the risk indicators. A Pearson correlation analysis was adopted to validate the relationship with loss ratio and risk indicators. Consequently, this framework and its results may offer significant references for under writers of insurance companies and loss prevention activities.

  • To assess the collapse risk of transmission line structures subject to natural hazards, it is important to identify what hazard may cause the structural collapse. In Australia and many other countries, a large proportion of failures of transmission line structures are caused by severe thunderstorms. Because the wind loads generated by thunderstorms are not only random but time-variant as well, a time-dependent structural reliability approach for the risk assessment of transmission line structures is essential. However, a lack of appropriate stochastic models for thunderstorm winds usually makes this kind of analysis impossible. The intention of the paper is to propose a stochastic model that could realistically and accurately simulate wind loading due to severe thunderstorms. With the proposed thunderstorm model, the collapse risk of transmission line structures under severe thunderstorms is assessed numerically based on the computed failure probability of the structure.

  • Airworthiness certification is a government certification for the military aircraft to safely attain, sustain and terminate flight and It is a mandatory process of qualifying the flight safety within the operational boundaries of a military aircraft. To save the manhour, time and cost for applying all the airworthiness certification criteria to the aircraft equipped with flight control switching mechanism development program, an identification of the risk and systematic assessment of risk is analysed. Airworthiness redesign actions so called software switching mechanism for the modified aircraft in the flight technology and electric system area are suggested to reduce the risk hazard index.

  • Nations, especially developing countries, hope to license the technology developed at the expense of government Research and Development (R&D) investment to the corresponding firms for commercial exploitation. Since commercial process is owing to lots of risk, firms have to grope the possibility of forming a partnership in order to reduce the risk. Therefore, a joint venture between firms would be needed to share the risk. This methodology suggests a way that probabilistic information of commercial project payoffs can be obtained using experts in project evaluation committee and the ratio of individual firm's investment size can be derived using risk sharing concept. Also simple examples are given.

  • Soil contamination in the United States is managed using a risk-based decision making process. In other words, we don't ask, 'how much soil contamination can be cleaned up\ulcorner' Instead we ask, 'how much contamination can be safely left in place\ulcorner' The determination of 'safe' levels of contamination is based upon the potential for exposure and the toxicity of the contaminants of concern in soil. Potential for exposure is determined by evaluating potential exposure pathways from source to receptor given current or reasonably anticipated land use. Soil cleanup goals are then calculated for any complete exposure pathways based upon toxicity and the route of exposure. In some cases, institutional or engineering controls are also used to limit the potential for exposure. In order to prevent a continuous degradation of environmental quality, risk-based cleanup approaches must be combined with strong contamination prevention programs. In addition, alternative risk management approaches should be incorporated into an overall risk reduction strategy.erall risk reduction strategy.

  • Risk assessment is the process of quantifying the probability of a harmful effect to individuals or populations from human activities. Mechanistic approaches to risk assessment have been generally referred to as systems toxicology. Systems toxicology makes use of advanced analytical and computational tools to integrate classical toxicology and quantitative analysis of large networks of molecular and functional changes occurring across multiple levels of biological organization. Three presentations including two case studies involving both in vitro and in vivo approaches described the current state of systems toxicology and the potential for its future application in chemical risk assessment.

  • In the most field of today's technology we can recognize that they are being developed faster than any other era. The common phenomena of the current technology are; large in scale, complicate in process, exposed to large number of people. Although it certainly has contributed to the welfare of humankind, we could realize that the technology has adverse effect to us. Actually we had to experienced numbers of disastrous accidents from many fields modern technologies are being adopted. Hundreds of people, sometimes thousands of people had to die without being noticed why and when. It is clear that we have to manage the risk existing in modern technology. In this paper I wanted to direct they way to adjust the public concerning to the public safety by introducing the method of risk assessment, acceptable risk criteria, and risk management model.
