Rock platforms and TTP (breakwater) are dangerous environments commonly subject to tidal and high wave energy on the open coast. This paper is a study on risk assessment to provide risk information, which is a representative method for preventing coastal safety accidents. Risk assessment based on geo-morphological information was conducted for the Halmi-Halabi rock platform in Anmyeon-eup, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. As a result of the risk assessment in 16 directions, the risk was evaluated high in the NE, ENE, S, SSW, and W directions, where there are many sections with slopes exceeding ±20°, and the NW direction was the lowest. Geo-morphology on rock platform is central to understanding what makes one stretch of complex coastline more hazardous than another, and it can be used to create site-specific morphological risk item. In particular, it will be assisting coastal managers in an effort to reduce the number of injuries and drowning incidents by providing hazard information to assess the relative risk.

As heavy precipitation rates have increased due to climate change, the risk of landslides has also become greater. Studies in the field of disaster risk assessment predominantly focus on evaluating intrinsic importance represented by the use or role of facilities. This work, however, focused on evaluating risks according to the external conditions of facilities, which were presented via debris flow simulation. A random walk model (RWM) was partially improved and used for the debris flow simulation. The existing RWM algorithm contained the problem of the simulation results being overly concentrated on the maximum slope line. To improve the model, the center cell height was adjusted and the inertia application method was modified. Facility information was collected from a digital topographic map layer. The risk level of each object was evaluated by combining the simulation result and the digital topographic map layer. A risk assessment technique suitable for the polygon and polyline layers was applied, respectively. Finally, by combining the evaluated risk with the attribute table of the layer, a system was prepared that could create a list of objects expected to be damaged, derive various statistics, and express the risk of each facility on a map. In short, we used an easy-to-understand simulation algorithm and proposed a technique to express detailed risk information on a map. This work will aid in the user-friendly development of a debris flow risk assessment system.
Haematuria is a common presentation of bladder cancer and requires a full urologic evaluation. This study aimed to develop a scoring system capable of stratifying patients with haematuria into high or low risk groups for having bladder cancer to help clinicians decide which patients need more urgent assessment. This cross-sectional study included all adult patients referred for haematuria and subsequently undergoing full urological evaluation in the years 2001 to 2011. Risk factors with strong association with bladder cancer in the study population were used to design the scoring system. Accuracy was determined by the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. A total of 325 patients with haematuria were included, out of which 70 (21.5%) were diagnosed to have bladder cancer. Significant risk factors associated with bladder cancer were male gender, a history of cigarette smoking and the presence of gross haematuria. A scoring system using 4 clinical parameters as variables was created. The scores ranged between 6 to 14, and a score of 10 and above indicated high risk for having bladder cancer. It was found to have good accuracy with an area under the ROC curve of 80.4%, while the sensitivity and specificity were 90.0% and 55.7%, respectively. The scoring system designed in this study has the potential to help clinicians stratify patients who present with haematuria into high or low r isk for having bladder cancer. This will enable high-risk patients to undergo urologic assessment earlier.
In this paper, a way for maximum use of cancer risk assessment software system CARA which can assess cancer risks by using health related information only without doctor's diagnosis is proposed. A way of maximizing the usage of CARA with use of nation wide internet network is described along with the general description of CARA. If CARA is used, the damage causing by cancer can be reduced since it is possible to sort a group of people with high risks (before diagnosis at a hospital). Also, CARA is helpful for medical research by used as a tool to reveal correlations between personal information and cancers practically. Unlike other preexisting systems, CARA is a new system which can consider 30 different cancers simultaneously and it is very efficient for early detection of cancer.
The safety of nuclear power plants is analyzed by a probabilistic risk assessment, and the fault tree analysis is the most widely used method for a risk assessment with the event tree analysis. One of the well-known disadvantages of the fault tree is that drawing a fault tree for a complex system is a very cumbersome task. Thus, several graphical modeling methods have been proposed for the convenient and intuitive modeling of complex systems. In this paper, the reliability graph with general gates (RGGG) method, one of the intuitive graphical modeling methods based on Bayesian networks, is improved for the reliability analyses of dynamic systems that have various operation modes with time. A reliability matrix is proposed and it is explained how to utilize the reliability matrix in the RGGG for various cases of operation mode changes. The proposed RGGG with a reliability matrix provides a convenient and intuitive modeling of various operation modes of complex systems, and can also be utilized with dynamic nodes that analyze the failure sequences of subcomponents. The combinatorial use of a reliability matrix with dynamic nodes is illustrated through an application to a shutdown cooling system in a nuclear power plant.

In this study, we conducted an assessment of the risks posed by the noxious chemicals often handled at the analysis centers of organizations involved in Work Environment Measurement (WEM) using the Chemical Hazard Risk Management (CHARM) system. For this purpose, six organizations involved in WEM located in Seoul and Gyeonggi, which conducted the risk assessment, were selected and, as a result, 29 materials were selected as chemical substances presenting a risk of exposure. In terms of their physical properties, there were 16 liquid and 10 solid materials, and for the special management materials (CMR), the findings were as follows: 'Carcinogenic' 1A - 11 and 1B - 1 (2 - 8); 'Mutagenic' 1A - 4 and 1B - 3 (2 - 8); and 'Repro-toxic' 1A - 0 and 1B - 1 (2 - 6). In the risk estimation, 30.4%, 66.1% and 3.6% of the materials presented 'low', 'average' and 'high' risks, respectively. In addition, two of these six institutions had materials presenting a 'high' risk. This study is significant in that the risk assessment was conducted using CHARM, a chemical substance assessment tool. It is expected that the results will be utilized as the basic data for safety assessment, the establishment of a plan for emergency measures and drawing up a safety management manual, and the institutional and legal management of accidents and risks in the analysis centers of organizations involved in WEM and the management of chemicals by drawing attention to the risks involved.
All u-Health system has security vulnerabilities. This vulnerability locally(local) or network(network) is on the potential risk. Smart environment of health information technology, Ad-hoc networking, wireless communication environments, u-health are major factor to increase the security vulnerability. u-health care information systems user terminal domain interval, interval public network infrastructure, networking section, the intranet are divided into sections. Health information systems by separating domain specific reason to assess vulnerability vulnerability countermeasure for each domain are different. u-Healthcare System 5 layers of security risk assessment system for domain-specific security vulnerability diagnosis system designed to take the security measures are needed. If you use this proposed model that has been conducted so far vaguely USN-based health information network security vulnerabilities diagnostic measures can be done more systematically provide a model.
Chemical plants should perform Quantitative Risk Assessment that evaluates types of accident, frequency and damage which can happen through using the hazardous equipment and the hazardous materials for preventing and preparing industrial disasters. It is necessary that Chemical plants should include the reliability database which efficiently evaluate the Quantitative Risk Assessment. So in this study, we suggest a which methodology applies Quantitative Risk Assessment on the basis of the constructed data to imply the reliability of industrial facilities and equipment, collection of reliability data, system analysis and development of software.

Fuel cell powered unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) are globally being developed for various application according to hydrogen roadmap. However, safety standards for hydrogen fuel cell for UAV have not been established. Therefore, in this study, we derive safety data based on risk assessment to develop safety standards for fuel cells for UAV. We use fault tree analysis method which is broadly used in hydrogen facilities as a risk assessment tool. We set hydrogen leaks and fires as top events and derived the basic events. Safety data for the basic events were derived by quoting overseas safety standards related to fuel cells. The safety data will be used for developing fuel cell inspection standard according to Act on Hydrogen Economy Promotion and Hydrogen Safety Management.

The continuous social development has led to increasing pollution in lakes. This study proposed the LVRI (Lake Vulnerability Resilience Indicator) based on the vulnerability assessment of climate change for an environmental risk assessment in lakes sufferign water pollution in an integrated aspect of the characteristics in lake watersheds. A total of 11 representative assessment factors were selected and constructed for 6 lake basins in the Geum River Watershed to calculate the exposure, sensitivity and adaptation indicators in a vulnerability assessment classification system. The weight coefficients for assessment factors of the LVRI were also calculated using the Entropy method. This study also compared the rank results of the lake environmental risk with/without the weight coefficients of assessment factors for the practical application of the proposed lake environmental risk assessment method. The lake environmental risk results estimated in this study can be used for long-term water quality analysis and management in lakes.
