A Simplified Approach to the Analysis of the Ultimate Compressive Strength of Welded Stiffened Plates (용접된 보강판의 압축 최종 강도의 간이 해석법)

  • In this paper, a method to calculate the ultimate compressive strength of welded one-sided stiffened plates simply supported along all edges is proposed. At first initial imperfections such as distortions and residual stresses due to welding are predicted by using simplified methods. Then, the collapse modes of the stiffened plate are assumed and collapse loads for each mode are calculated. Among these loads, the lowest value is selected as the ultimate strength of the plate. Collapse modes are assumed as follows ; (1) Overall buckling of the stiffened plate$\rightarrow$Overall collapse due to stiffener bending (2) Local buckling of the plate part$\rightarrow$Local collapse of the plate part$\rightarrow$Overall collapse due to stiffener yielding (3) Local buckling of the plate part$\rightarrow$Overall collapse due to stiffener berthing (4) Local buckling of the plate part$\rightarrow$Local collapse of the plate part$\rightarrow$Overall collapse due to stiffener tripping. The elastic large deflection analysis based on the Rayleigh-Ritz method is carried out, and plastic analysis assuming hinge lines is also carried out. Collapse load is defined as the cross point of the two analysis curves. This method enables the utimate strength to be calculated with small computing time and a good accuracy. Using the present method, characteristics of the stiffener including torsional rigidity, bending and tripping can also be clarified.

  • This study examines the relationship of the industry-specific factors that effect innovation of manufacturing technology and the market share within the defense industry. Since the establishment of the basic defense industry framework in 1973, there were numerous interactions of the industry-specific factors of the defense industry structure with the technological innovation and market organization of the defense industry. During last three decades, the domestic defense industry has achieved the considerable level but the framework of the basic system has not developed much in areas of the military science and the defense manufacturing technology. Industry-specific factors were formed in the process and appeared in a variety of behavioral characteristics as subsystems. Currently, there IS a growing trend where the management of defense industry is gradually deteriorating due to limitation of the domestic industry-specific factor (e.g. defense technologies, amount of demand, etc.). If there is a prominent imbalance of the industry-specific factors. it can trigger the potential problem of conflict, lack of cooperation and control, slowing the growth of the manufacturing technology thereby diminishing the market and deteriorating the defense supply/demand relationship. In a research conducted by Joe S. Bain, Bain analyzed the relationship of the traditional industrial organization where industry-specific factor(S) not only impacts the conductor(C). And, conductor(C) influences the shaping of the performance(P) of relationship of the traditional industrial organization. Consequently, the researcher has identified the demand monopoly, barriers to entry, and market competition with comparison of defense industry issues. These defense issues were three industry-specific factors identified, which are 1) The demand monopoly and The entry barriers to new market competition, 2) the industrial technical factor to a production technical competitiveness and a market sharing competitiveness, 3) the probability factor to revolution for military affairs(RMA) and a R&D production. According to baseline with these factors, the following research model is established from the special companies group(Group A), the systematization companies group(Group B), and the general companies group(Group 0. The hypothesis is that if there are more industry-specific factors, then there will be more relationships of defense industry relation statutes. This research is an empirical study on the relationship that the industry specific factors effects the innovation of manufacturing technology and the shaping of the market in the defense industry. Moreover, the existing models to evaluate the industry specific factors of the defense industry IS much to be desired with the controlled statistical analysis of the result. It is vital to study on current situation with suggesting alternative strategy to the efficient strategy. The descriptive analysis approach analysis is conducted with SPSSWIN to conduct reliability test, factor analysis, correlation analysis, cross-tabulation analysis, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. However, there were some limitations of the survey such as the rigidity of concept about the technical factors and various market management factors. The wishes is that the decision-maker could be utilized these defence industrial factors to formulate efficient defence policy and strategy in the future.

P'ungbu(風府) is located 1 chon above the middle of natural line of the hair at the back of the head, in the depression below the occiptal protuberance(Governor meridian, 督脈). It connects (Liver meridian, 足厥陰肝經) and Yin Link Vessel(陽維脈). we can cure the rigidity and pain in head and nape which is related Yin Link Vessel(陽維脈). 5. P'ungshi(風市) is located on the lateral part of the thigh, 7 hon above the patella(From the greater trochanter to the knee joint is 19 chon, Gallbladder Meridian (足少陽膽經). we can cure the local area disease(leg, knee, etc). 6. P'ungji(風池) is located Below the occipital bone, in the depression on the outer part of the trapezius muscle(Gallbladder Meridian, 足少陽膽經) on a level with P'ungbu(風府) (Governor vessel, 督脈). we can cure the local area disease and also use to cure the pathway of the Leg lesser yang gall bladder which is attacked by P'ung(風) disease.

Thermodynamic Parameters of Complexation of Lanthanides by L-proline (Lanthanides-L-proline 착물의 형성에 관한 열역학적 연구)

  • The stability constants for lanthanides complexes with optically active L-proline (1 : 1) were determined in aqueous solution in the ionic medium of 0.1 M $NaClO_4$ at 25$^{\circ}C$ using a pH titration method. The results show called "gadolinium break" between lighter and heavier lanthanides. The linear relation between the stability constant (log$\beta$1) and the pKa values of ligands indicates that L-proline acts as a bidentate ligand in the complexation. The thermodynamic parameters (${\Delta}H$ and ${\Delta}S$) were also determined using an enthalpy titration method at the same condition. The positive endothermic enthalpy change and positive entropy change clearly indicate that the driving force for the complexation is an entropy effect. The comparison of the thermodynamic parameters of L-proline complexes with anthranilate complexes supports the conclusion that the heterocyclic nitrogen atom and carboxylate of L-proline are involved in the chleate formation. The enthalpy values for L-proline are more positive than the ones for anthranilate complex. The difference in enthalpy change for the complex formation between L-proline complex and anthranilate complex is explained in terms of the basicity of the nitrogen donor atom in the ligand. The relatively large entropy change may be described by the extra dehydration related to the rigidity of L-proline ring.

Stress Relaxation Coefficient Method for Concrete Creep Analysis of Composite Sections (합성단면의 콘크리트 크리프 해석을 위한 이완계수법)

  • The concrete creep deformation of a hybrid composite section can cause additional deformation of the composite section and the stress relaxation of pre-compressive stress on the concrete section due to partial restraint of the deformation. In this study, the stress relaxation coefficient method (SRCM) is derived for simple analysis of complicate hybrid or composite sections for engineering purpose. Also, an equation of the stress relaxation coefficient (SRC) required for the SRCM is proposed. The SRCM is derived with the parameters of a creep coefficient, section and loading properties using the same method as the constant-creep step-by-step method (CC-SSM). The errors of the SRCM is improved by using the proposed SRC equation than the average SRC's which were estimated from the CC-SSM. The root mean square error (RMSE) of the SRCM with the proposed SRC equation for concrete with creep coefficient less than 3 was less than 1.2% to the creep deformation at the free condition and was 3.3% for the 99% reliability. The proposed SRC equation reflects the internal restraint of composite sections, and the effective modulus of elasticity computed with the proposed SRC can be used effectively to estimate the rigidity of a composite section in a numerical analysis which can be applied in analysis of the external restrain effect of boundary conditions.

Changes in the Texture and Salt Content of Chinese Cabbage Using Different Salting Methods (절임 방법에 따른 배추 조직 및 염도 변화)

  • This study analyzed changes in the texture and salt content of Chinese cabbage after salting using different methods to determine the effects of low salt brining. To verify the possibility of brining under low salt concentration, Chinese cabbage was salted with 1%, 2%, 6%, and 10% salt solutions by pressing, pressure reduction, or steaming. After salting, the firmness (g, determined using the puncture test) of the Chinese cabbage changed according to the brining methods used, however, an increasing trend in rigidity was observed as the salinity increased. Because the power applied during pressing or pressure reduction treatments is higher, the firmness of and penetration time on the surface of the brined Chinese cabbages after these treatments increased more in the 6% salt solution cabbage. Additionally, the Chinese cabbages treated with steam showed significantly higher firmness and penetration time than those treated by pressing and pressure reduction. As a result of pressing the 6% salt concentrated cabbage with 1.35 $kg{\cdot}f/cm^2$, a pressure reduction from 250 mmHg, and steaming at 100$^{\circ}C$ for 1 min, the cabbage had roughly 2% of the salt concentration, ultimately. These physical treatments of pressing, pressure reduction, and steaming could be used as new methods for preparing salted Chinese cabbage with low salt concentrations for general use.

  • The subject of Abdominal syndrome in the field of Jin Kui Yao Lue takes a quarter of the whole research quantity, and has greatly contributed to the development of diagnoses due to the well-growth of syndrome differentiation through 'the differentiation of symptoms and signs based on prescriptions'-centered abdominal syndrome. Since then, while the diagnostic has been developed mainly in the field of pulse feeling and the inspection of the tongue, application of the abdominal diagnostic has not been continuously improved because of special historical and social environments. Recently, since interest in the differentiation of symptoms and signs based on abdominal syndrome has been raised by emphasis of Oriental diagnostic methods and. medical treatment which have led to the study of Abdominal Syndrome in Jin Kui Yao Lue. The following is the results of the study. 1. Jin Kui Yao Lue abdominal syndrome is categorized into all abdominal symptoms Epigastric symptoms, Hypochondrium symptoms, and Lower abdomen symptoms. 2. Subjective symptoms and Objective symptoms have been found in Abdominal syndrome, and Subjective symptoms have been more often than Objective symptoms. Both of the symptoms have been found more to co-exist in abdominal syndromes. 3. More cases of fullness of abdomen symptoms in All abdominal symptoms, a smaller number of cases in Taiyang disease, Yangming disease, disease involving all three yang, Tayin disease and Jueyin disease have been found, but there have not been found in Shaoyin disease. 4. More cases of Epigastric fullness and rigidity in Epigastric symptoms, Epigastric throbs in Palpitation symptoms, and sense of fullness-in-chest in Abdominal syndrome of chest and hypochondrium have been recognized. 5. Any regularity caused by abdominal symptoms has not been identified. 6. Diagnosis of the abdomen caused by abdominal symptoms has been identified in Epigastric fullness, Epigastric pain, Epigastric procrastination, Epigastric throb, fullness of abdomen and distension of lower abdomen.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the recognition of "Jung Pung(中風)" mentioned in "Jae-Byoung-Won-Hu-Ron(諸病源候論)" The conclusion would be summerized as follows. 1. "Pung Byoung(風病)" is a symptom that man was damaged by "Pung Chi(風氣)", which is a wide meaning inclusive of cloudiness of conscious, apasia and the limbs disorder of "Jung Pung(中風)", "Bi 痺symptom", "Yeuk Jeil Pung(歷節風)", the skin disease, psychopathy and leprosy. 2. In cause of "Jung Pung(中風)", this book was received the theory of invasion of "Pung Sa (風邪)" from outside claimed in "Nae Kyoung(內經)", "Kum Gaeu Yo Rak(金?要略)", but in a viewpoint of "Hyel Chi(血氣)", "Young Yui(營衛)" and "Bi Yui Heo Sil(脾胃虛實)", especially, insists on the weakness of "Bi Yui(脾胃)" function. 3. In the pathology of "Jung Pung(中風)", there was a recognition that symptoms appear following each "Jang Bu(臟腑)" invaided and changed by a way of "Kyoung Rak Jang Bu(經絡臟腑)", because "Pung Sa(風邪)" invades the space of the skin, disturbs the circulation of "Hyel Chi(血氣)" in a inner and isn't given out in a outer. 4. Thereare, , , , , in the symptoms of "Jung Pung(中風)" and ", , , , , , in the similar symptoms of "Jung Pung(中風)". 5. The principle of treatement is "getting sweating, helping the insufficent energy and diminishing the sufficent energy", but the presciption isn't mentioned and "Do-in Method(導引法)" was recorded after each symptom because of taking a serious view of "Bo-Yang-Sun-Do(補養宣導)" 6. The prognosis of "Jung Pung(中風)"is suggested in a view of pulse diganosis, symptoms and is bad in case of appearance of no sweating, rigidity, vomitting a bubble and apasia.

  • Metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD) is a progressive and degenerative neurological disease caused by a deficiency of the catabolic enzyme arylsulfatase A. Deficiency of arylsulfatase A results in accumulation of sulfatide in the white matter of the peripheral and central nervous system and it occurs demyelination as a result. The patient gradually goes through mental and motor failure. General symptoms of MLD include gait disturbance, mental deterioration, muscle rigidity and impaired swallowing. Inheritance of the disease is autosomal recessive. We report a dental caries treatment of a 3-year old boy with MLD. The patient underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) to slow the progression of the disease. He was suffered from difficulties of mastication and swallowing from the degenerative neurological symptom. He was ingesting food by both oral feeding and tubal feeding after he took percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG). The cause of multiple caries was mainly presumed as patient's prolonged time of meal. The treatment was performed under general anesthesia considering patient's incompliance. Severely affected lower primary molars were treated with pulp treatment and restored with stainless steel crown. Others were restored with composite resin. There were no postoperative complications. MLD is life threatening progressive disease and also has an impact on unfavorable condition for oral health. Routine home oral care and periodic professional dental care should be emphasized to the caregiver of patient considering the susceptibility of dental caries. Not only the medical care, but periodic dental office visit would benefit the quality of life of the patient.

Back Analysis Technique for the Estimation of Tension Force on Hanger Cables (역해석기법을 이용한 행어케이블의 장력 추정)

  • In general, the tension forces of hanger cable in suspension bridges play an important role in evaluating the bridge conditions. The vibration method, as a conventional one, has been widely applied to estimate the tension forces by using the measured frequencies on hanger cables. However, the vibration method is not applicable to short hanger cables because the fiequencies of short cables are severely sensitive to flexural rigidity. Thus, in this study, the tension forces of short hanger cables, of which the length is shorter than 10 meters, were estimated through back analysis of the cable fiequencies measured from Gwang-An suspension bridge in Korea. Direct approach to back analysis is adopted using the univariate method among the direct search methods as an optimization technique. The univariate method is able to search the optimal tension forces without regard to the initial ones and has a rapid convergence rate. To verify the feasibility of back analysis, the results from back analysis and vibration method are compared with the design tension forces. From the comparison, it can be inferred that back analysis results are more reasonable agreement with the design tension forces of short hanger cable. Therefore, it is concluded that back analysis applied in this study is an appropriate tool for estimating tension forces of short hanger cables.
