Performance Characteristics of High Speed Jetting Dispenser Using Piezoactuator (압전작동기를 이용한 고속 토출 젯팅 디스펜서의 성능 특성)

  • This paper presents a new jetting dispenser driven by a piezoelectric actuator at high operating frequency to provide very small dispensing dot size of adhesive in modern semiconductor packaging processes. After describing the mechanism and operational principle of the dispenser, a mathematical model of the structured system is derived by considering behavior of each component such as piezostack and dispensing needle. In the fluid modeling, a lumped parameter method is applied to model the adhesive whose rheological property is expressed by Bingham model. The governing equations are then derived by integrating the structural model with the fluid model. Based on the proposed model, dispensing performances such as dispensing amount are investigated with respect to various input trajectories.

  • For a fundamental study for high concentration pigment coating, the effects of alkali swellable emulsion (ASE) type rheology modifier and surface adsorption emulsion (SAE) type rheology modifier on both the stability and the viscoelastic behavior of a coating color were elucidated. The coating color prepared with SAE type rheology modifier showed superior thermal and mechanical stability than that with ASE type. In the high concentration and high speed coating process, the mechanical stability of a coating color was a key parameter since both impact force and shear force were increased with the increase of coating color concentration and coating speed, respectively.

  • A study that demonstrates how to investigate the molded part quality and the consistency of injection process based on the rheological concept is proposed. It is important for plastic material whose melt viscosity is variable with respect to the processing condition. The formulations to couple the melt viscosity with injection pressure and fill time are derived first. Taking calculations of the measured pressure and the time by using these formulations, the melt viscosity in injection process can be determined on machine. As the relation between the injection speed and the melt viscosity is constructed, the influences of the setting parameter of injection machine on the molded part quality can be investigated through evaluating the state of the melt viscosity. In addition, a pressure sensor bushing (PSB) designed with a quick installation feature is also provided and validated. The results show that a higher injection speed improves the tensile strength of the molded part but also the consistency of the molded part quality. This work provides an alternative to evaluate the molding quality scientifically.

  • Internal heat generation is one of the insidious conditions affecting the quality of an industrial product after it is cast, coated, molded, forged or laminated. Frequently, the product is pressed into service before the exothermic chemical reactions in the generic material has been completed. The heat liberated from this continuing chemical reaction or the residual deformation from the rheological activities in the materials must be adequately removed or prevented, or the product may be discolored, warped, weakened or even "ignited" spontaneously. Numerous instances of premature structural failures, product-recalls, and/or system-malfunctions have been recorded in recent history. The Coulee Dam was poured with pre-chilled concrete just to negate this freakish encore. It is well-known that concrete (a non-isotropic conducting medium), for instance, takes 28 days to develop its full strength.   • This paper presents performance analysis of two-linked robot system using ER (electro rheological) valve actuators. An ER fluid consisting of soluble chemical starches (particles) and silicone oil is made and its field-dependent yield stress is experimentally distilled using electro-viscometer. From this result, the design parameters of ER valve are determined. Based on parameter study, an ER valve system is designed and manufactured. Furthermore, the measured pressure drop is compared with predicted one obtained from the Bingham model. Following the evaluation of field-dependent pressure drop of ER valve, a two-linked robot system with two ER valve actuators is then constructed and its governing equation of motion is derived. From this equation, PID controller is established. Consequently, control performances of the proposed two-linked robot system featuring ER valve are evaluated.

  • This paper presents a position control of a platform at the seaport cargo handling system. After brief description of the operating principles of the cargo handling system, the governing equation of the moving platform is derived. The equation is described in the state space model, and a robust H$_{\infty}$ controller to achieve position tracking of the moving platform. which can carry 200ton of containers, is formulated. In the synthesis of the controller, the weight of the container is treated as uncertain parameter. Both regulating and tracking control responses are analyzed for the loading and unloading procedures of the proposed automatic cargo handling system.

  • In this study, a control method of MR(magneto-rheological) damper for a cruise bus is investigated. A virtual dynamic damper and a sky-hook algorithm are employed to control the damping characteristics of MR damper. Coefficients for a virtual dynamic damper are determined through the parameter identification. A quarter car model of a cruise bus is established by using ADAMS/Car program for the computer simulation. Sine wave excitation and random excitation are used to compare the controlled MR damper with the passive damper. From the simulation results, the performance of MR damper with a virtual dynamic damper is better than that of the passive damper.

  • This paper presents dynamic modeling and controller design of a tracked vehicle installed with the double-rod type ERSU(electro-rheological suspension unit). A 16 DOF(degree-of-freedom) model for the tracked vehicle is established by Lagrangian method. After showing the spring and damping characteristics of the proposed ERSU, equivalent 2 DOF 1/12 tracked vehicle model is then formulated by regarding the spring and viscous damping coefficients under the static state as constant values. A robust LSDP(loop-shaping design procedure) $H_{\infty}$ controller compensating spring and damping parameter variations is then designed in order to suppress unwanted vibration of the vehicle. The control responses such as vertical and pitch acceleration are presented in time domain.

  • Bovine hide and pig skin gelatins were prepared and their molecular weight profiles were examined by SDS-PAGE. The major molecular weights of bovine hide gelatin were 220 kDa, 140kDa, and 130kDa and the weights of pigskin gelatin were 210 kDa, 135kDa and 120kDa. Also , as a typical parameter of rheological property of the gelatin , viscosities of gelatin were measured under various conditions. Gelatin hydrolysates were prepared using typical commerical proteases and their angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitory activities were examined.

  • The aim of the investigation described in this paper is to study the nonlinear parametric vibrations and stability of a simply-supported viscoelastic beam with an intra-span spring. Taking into account a time-dependent tension inside the beam as the main source of parametric excitations, as well as employing a two-parameter rheological model, the equations of motion are derived using Newton's second law of motion. These equations are then solved via a perturbation technique which yields approximate analytical expressions for the frequency-response curves. Regarding the main parametric resonance case, the local stability of limit cycles is analyzed. Moreover, some numerical examples are provided in the last section.
