A new spary chrysanthemum(Dendranthema grandiflorum) cultivar 'Serapina' was developed from a cross between 'Relanse' and 'Yen' by selection of seedlings and lines at the Flower Research Institute, Gyeongnam Agricultural Research and Extention Services(ARES) from 2002 to 2006. Its characteristics were investigated three times from 2004 to 2006 under condition of forcing culture in spring and retarding culture in autumn. The natural flowering time of 'Serapina' was October 23th, and year-round production was possible by day length treatment. Its capitulum was 2.8cm in diameter, and had 43.4 ray florets and 28.9 head per stem in autumn. Its ray floret was yellow with green central zone. To flower in the short day condition, for 'Serapina' was about 46 days in spring, and 'Serapina' showed the vase life of 21.7 days in autumn. This cultivar was registered for a commercialization in 2007.

A new spray chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflorum) cultivar "Green Witch" was developed from a cross between 'S04161' and 'S04109' by selection of seedlings and lines at the Flower Research Institute, Gyeongnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services (ARES) from 2004 to 2008. Its characteristics were investigated three times from 2006 to 2008 under condition of forcing culture in spring and retarding culture in autumn. The natural flowering time of "Green Witch" was October 19th, and year-round production was possible by day length treatment. Its capitulum was 3.2cm in diameter, and had 15.9 head per stem in autumn. Its ray floret was green central zone. To flower in the short day condition, for "Green Witch" was about 44 days in spring, and "Green Witch" showed the vase life of 25.3 days in autumn. This cultivar was registered for a commercialization in 2008.

The natural flowering time of 'Eye Ball' was October 20th, but year-round production was possible by shading and lighting. Its flower was 3.1cm in diameter, and had 38.4 petals and 26.8 flowers per stem in autumn. Its petal was narrow (0.4 cm) and pink with green in color at the flower center. To flower in the short day condition, for 'Eye Ball' was about 47 days in spring, and 'Eye Ball' showed a vase life of 20.9 days in autumn. This cultivar was registered for a commercialization in 2007. 'Eye Ball' would be cultured under the greenhouse and rain shelter condition in Korea.

'Secret Pink' was released by National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science in 2008. The cross was made between '03B1-23' and 'Sei-Monaco in 2005'. After the evaluation of the characteristics under shade culture in summer and retarding culture in spring and consecutive selection from 2006 to 2008, 'Secret Pink' was selected finality. The natural flowering time of 'Secret Pink' was the middle of October, and it is possible to flower all year round by shade and light culture. It has single type flowers with pink petals. The growth of plant was very vigorous and response time was 6.5 weeks. The diameter of flower was 6.7 cm. Number of flowers per stem and petals per flower were 14.5 and 25, respectively. Days to flowering under the short day treatment was about 50 and its vase life was 25.5 days in autumn season.

A spray chrysanthemum cultivar 'Green Candy' was released by National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science, Rural Development Administration, in 2009. The cross between 'Yoko Ono', a spray chrysanthemum cultivar with light yellowish-green double type, and 'Green Bird', a spray chrysanthemum cultivar with vigorous and green double type, was made in Suwon in 2006. After the evaluation of the characteristics under shade culture in summer and retarding culture in spring and consecutive selection from 2007 to 2009, 'Green Candy' was selected finality. The natural flowering time of 'Green Candy' is October 28th, and it is possible to flower all year-round by shade and light culture. It has double flower type with green petals. The growth of plant is very vigorous and the color of the petals is stable when the variety is cultivated under high temperature conditions in summer season. The diameter of flower is 4.1 cm. The numbers of flower per stem and petals per flower are 12 and 217, respectively. The days for flowering under the short day treatment are about 58 and its vase life is 18.1 days in autumn season. 'Green Candy' was applied as No. 2010-212 on March 5, 2010 for variety protection and the plant variety protection rights have been registered as No. 3633 on August 2, 2011 at the Korea Seed and Variety Service.

Progenies were investigated from 2004 to 2006 under shading culture in spring and retarding culture in autumn and the promising line was selected based on the performance of year-round production, white rust resistance and vase life. Pinky flowered around 20 October, and year-round production was possible by shading and lighting. Its flower was 3.1 cm in diameter, and had 38.4 petals and 26.8 flowers per stem in autumn. Its petal was narrow (0.4 cm) and pink with green in color at the flower center. Days to flower from short-day start for 'Pinky' was about 47 in spring. 'Pinky' showed a vase life of 20.9 days in autumn. This cultivar was commercially registered in 2007. 'Pinky' would be suitable for culture under the greenhouse and rain shelter condition in Korea.

A new spray chrysanthemum(Dendranthema grandiflorum Ramat.) cultivar 'Yes Arang' was originated from a cross between 'NOA' and 'SP03-05-04'. This cultivar was tested on the characteristics from 2005 to 2007 for the evaluation and selection including shading and retarding culture. The natural flowering time of 'Yes Arang' is late October. This cultivar was yellow in color, single in flower type for the spray type cut-flower. The diameters of flower and flower center were 4.3 cm and 1.2 cm, respectively. Year round production was possible by shading or lighting treatment. Its number of flowers was 15.1 per plant. In natural and forcing cultivation, the days to flowering was 7 weeks after short day treatment. It has resistance to white rust and the vase life was about 17.2 days in autumn season.

A new cultivar $Dendranthema$ $grandiflourm$ 'Dream Water' was developed at Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research & Extension Services, Korea in 2009. The cultivar 'Dream Water' was initially derived from the cross in 2005 between 'Patra', a spray chrysanthemum cultivar with yellow single type, and 'Ruces', a spray chrysanthemum cultivar with white single type. The cultivar has single type with ivory petals. Trial evaluation was conducted from 2006 to 2009 for selection of this variety, including a shading culture in spring and a retarding culture in summer. The flowering time of 'Dream Water' was October 24th, and year-round flowering is possible by shading or lighting treatment. The diameter of the flower is 56.0 mm. Number of flowers per stem and petals per flower are 11.1 and 26.8, respectively. Its leaf color was green (Green Group 147A) and plant height was 89.7 cm. Days to flowering under the short day treatment is about 54 in spring, and diameter of flower center was 1.4 cm in the summer. The vase life was 16.7 days in autumn and consumer's preference of new spray chrysanthemum is high level than control.

A new cultivar Dendranthema grandiflourm 'Dream Round' was developed at Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research & Extension Services (GARES), Korea in 2010. The variety 'Dream Round' was initially derived from a cross in 2006 between 'Hebo' a seed parent, a spray chrysanthemum cultivar with white anemone type, and 'Samos' as a pollen parent, a spray chrysanthemum variety with white anemone type. The cultivar has anemone type with white petals. Trial evaluation was conducted from 2008 to 2010 for the selection of that cultivar, including a shading culture in spring and a retarding culture in summer. The flowering time of 'Dream Round' was October 24th, and year-round flowering was possible by shading or lighting treatment. The diameter of flower of 'Dream Round' was 34.1 mm. Numbers of flowers per stem and petals per flower of 'Dream Round' were 12.8 and 26.1, respectively. Its leaf color was green (Green Group 147A) and plant height was 92.4 cm. Days to flowering of 'Dream Round' under the short day treatment was about 54 in spring, and diameter of flower of 'Dream Round' was 34.2 mm in the summer. The vase life of 'Dream Round' was 21.7 days in autumn.

In 2000, domestic protected cultivation area was about 52,189 ha including 13,621 ha of heating greenhouses. Recently, heating cost accounts for 25 to 30% of total production cost which has been increased due to the rise of oil price, while the heating cost was about 15% in other advanced countries. To reduce the heating energy cost, the study of minimizing the heating space of greenhouse have been conducted from 1998 to 1999. The system was developed to control the heating space according to crop growth by moving horizontal curtain up and down. Installation of the heating space-control curtain in greenhouse decreased heating capacity to 264 m$^3$compared to 661.5 m$^3$in the traditional curtain, and consumpted fuel was saved about 56% point in semiforcing culture and 28% point in retarding culture of pepper. In addition, uniform distribution of air temperature and relative humidity in greenhouse environment resulted in earlier flowering and higher yields in hot pepper.
