  • To set out restoration plan of Evergreen Broad-Leaved Forests(EBLF), a case study was done at Wando arboretum, Sinjido and Jangdo(Island). Firstly, basic environmental survey was done and the degrade levels of EBLF was assessed. And the forest functions and restoration goal of vegetation have been established before considering and setting restoration types of vegetation and restoration techniques. Taking social demand and restoration goal etc. into consideration, the forest functions were classified into a ecosystem preservation, scenery conservation and timber production. Quercus acuta Forest, Castanopsis siebodii Forest, Persea thunbergii Forest, Cinnamomum japonicum Forest, Dendropanax morbifera Forest etc. were suggested as a restoration goal of vegetation. Restoration types of vegetation were classified into a preservation type, restoration type, reconstruction type and afforestation type. And restoration techniques were subdivided into a preservation, induction, improvement, and creation according to the degraded levels of EBLF.

  • In this study, we intend to integrate the database(DB) method into one logical structure that is related to damage such as cause and type of damages occurring in the DMZ area. We divided the DMZ members into two types, which are classified into qualitative and quantitative aspects based on the current status survey for three years as a study of database construction, So that the actual data can be utilized in future restoration. The database construction through each restoration direction regarding the type of DMZ corruption is as follows. First, we recognized the necessity of restoration of the damaged area of the DMZ, and approached it as a plan to select the damaged mark. Second, DMZ database reconstruction can be used as a restoration of damages, suggesting more information and restoration type through building an ecological database for education and research. Third, in order to maintain and restore restoration of damaged areas continuously at the national level, it is necessary to institutionalize guidelines for reasonable internal restoration in the national level as data that can be credited externally and can be acknowledged as the latest data.

  • The demand characteristics of the conventional 12 kinds of epoxy resins which have been used for restoration of the ceramic relics were investigated to provide standards of the effective materials in this study. The result of durability analysis showed that a liquid type is more effective in ceramic relics (low damage, high strength), and a paste type is more effective in earthenware relics (high damage, low strength). The result of workability analysis appears that the liquid type is higher than the paste type, and a slow curing type is higher than a fast curing type in surface hardness. Therefore, in the case of the liquid type which is hard to reprocess due to high surface hardness, it is necessary to conduct a study on improving physical properties by adding filler. The result of the gloss analysis on epoxy resins showed that the liquid type (colorless) has higher gloss than the paste type, and the slow curing type has higher gloss than the fast curing type in liquid types. CDK-520A/520B and Araldite SV 427-2/HV 427-1 showed the most similar gloss to $700^{\circ}C$ earthenware, Devcon 5 minute, EPO-TEK 301-2, and Quik Wood showed the most similar gloss to celadon and whiteware, Quik Wood, EPO-TEK 301-2, and Devcon 5 minute showed the most similar gloss to buncheongware. It is necessary for conservator to decide the range of the restoration surface by predicting the increase and decrease of the restoration surface because most of the epoxy resins caused the volume change in curing process.

  • Research was initiated to investigate vegetation coverage and growth of main herbaceous flowers under low maintenance condition like a wild state. Eleven entries were comprised of 1 annual, 2 biennials and 8 perennials from widely used herbaceous flowers in Korea. Vegetation coverage and germination rate were high on annual and biennials when compared to perennials. Callistephus chinensis showed high vegetation coverage but lasted only for a year in 2001 and disappeared in 2002 as an annual. Oenothera odorata and Oenothera lamarckiana were also high vegetation coverage species with persistent only for two years as biennials. Therefore, these species should not be used in a large amount for ecological restoration when mixed with perennials because of affecting the vegetation coverage of perennials. There were considerable variations in vegetation coverage with perennial herbaceous flowers : Lotus corniculatus and Taraxacum platycarpum-high vegetation coverage species, Platycodon grandiflorum, Aster tataricus and Aster koraiensis-medium vegetation coverage species, and Aster yomena, Patrinia scabiosaefolia and Chrysanthemum indicum-low vegetation coverage species. Growth types of herbaceous flowers tested in this research were divided into 4 types : Callistephus chinensis, Oenothera lamarckiana and Aster koraiensis-wide leaf and tall type, Aster tataricus, Patrinia scabiosaefolia, Oenothera odorata, Taraxacum platycarpum, and Aster yomena-medium leaf and medium tall type, Platycodon grandiflorum-fine leaf and dwarf type, and Lotus corniculatus-fine leaf and tall type.

  • The purpose of this research is to figure out the effects of media framing and image restoration strategies on the public's crisis perceptions. The literature review revealed that the public perceives crises through the media lens and image restoration strategies heralded by the organization interact with media frames in the process of the public's perceiving the crisis. The news content analysis and the experiment were conducted to accomplish the research purpose. Also food-related crises were selected for a research case because they have a great impact on the society. The content analysis showed that image restoration strategies designed by the crisis organization tend to be conveyed through anecdote-type news frames. Most image restoration strategies were close to defensive communications and not differentiated by the crisis type. The experiment outcomes demonstrated that the organization's image restoration strategies were not consistent with what the public preferred in the crisis situation. Such public perceptions also were changed according to media frames. Media frames and image restoration strategies have an interaction effect on the public's crisis perception.

  • Originally, Gyeongcheonsa pagoda was located in Busosan, Jungyeon-ri, Gwangdeok-myeon, Gaepung-gun, Gyeonggi-do,but it has suffered from being taken out to Japan illegally in 1907 and being returned to Korea in 1918. After returned to Korea, Gyeoncheonsa Pagoda had been neglected and restored in 1960. It had been exhibited outside the Gyeingbokgung Palace after restoration, but many problems were raised. It was taken to pieces in 1995 and it is conservation and restoring today. However, the top of pagoda is necessary to be researched about its archetype because the shapes of stupa in 1902 and in 1960(the shape of pagoda after restoration) are all different from its archetype. According to picture datum in 1902, the top of pagoda was a Korean building type on a 10 layered roof stone. On the other hand, when it was restored in 1960, cement suspected as a anda was taken place between Korean building type and a 10 layered roof stone. Therefore, I am going to examine Restoration of Gyeongcheonsa pagoda in this thesis. When we examine historical records of Geongcheonsa and datum of parts, we can know that the pagoda was established in 1348(Goryeo Dynasty) but it is difficult to know the truth of its establishment and demolition of Gyeongcheonsa-temple. Three ways to restore the top of the pagoda of Gyeoncheonsa Pagoda can be c o n s i d e r e d . First, Korean building type made by metals is located on a 10 layered roof stone, which is same to picture datum in 1902. Second, the shape of and a type, which is similar to the shape when it was restored in 1960's. Also it is similar to Lamapagoda type. Third, to restore the top of pagoda of gabled roof type, which is similar to the top of pagoda of Wongaksagi P agoda. However it is necessaray to exmamine functions about circle grooves hollowed out in a 10 layered roof stone in restoration. Also we need to find out the archetype of dragon sculpture through the dragon claws left on an edge of a 10 layered roof stone.

  • The virtual reality technology is currently used classifying functional types such as the observation operation type, the experimental activity type, the learning information type, the field problem-solving type, and other different types, based on the media's characteristics implementing 3D form of multi-sensory information. Using Virtual Reality, the restoration of the 'Doksu Palace' has been grafted onto J. Keller's ARCS model, suggesting a field restoration concept that reenacts the lives of the people that had been in the field with the cultural heritage and history based on a scenario based scene direction. This paper also summarizes 3 different types of implementation of the field restoration assorting multi-scene direction. Certain limitations exist, due to the fact that a completed prototype hasn't been suggested and that a detailed notion of the housing and 3D audio connection has been omitted.

  • The purpose of this study was to classify the types of degraded areas of Mt. Jirisan section in Baekdudaegan and survey the actual condition of each damage type to use it as basic data for the direction of the restoration of damaged areas according to damage type based on the vegetation information of reference ecosystem. The analysis of the Mt. Jirisan section's actual degraded conditions showed that the total number of patches of degraded areas was 57, and the number of patches and size of degraded areas was higher at the low average altitude and gentle slope. Grasslands (deserted lands) and cultivated areas accounted for a high portion of the damage types, indicating that agricultural land use was a major damage factor. The survey on the conditions of 14 degraded areas showed that the types of damage were classified into the grassland, cultivated area, restoration area, logged-off land, and bare ground. The analysis of the degree of disturbance (the ratio of annual and biennial herb, urbanized index, and disturbance index) by each type showed that the simple single-layer vegetation structure mostly composed of the herbaceous and the degree of disturbance were high in the grassland and cultivated land. The double-layer vegetation structure appeared in the restoration area where the pine seedlings were planted, and the inflow of naturalized plants was especially high compared to other degraded areas due to disturbances caused by the restoration project and the nearby hiking trails. Although the inflow of naturalized plants was low because of high altitude in bare ground, the proportion of annual and biennial herb was high, indicating that all surveyed degraded areas were in early succession stages. The stand ordination by type of damage showed the restoration area on the I-axis, cultivated area, grassland, logged-off land, and bare ground in that order, indicating the arrangement by the damage type. Moreover, the stand ordination of the degraded areas and reference ecosystem based on floristic variation showed a clear difference in species composition. This study diagnosed the status of each damage type based on the reference ecosystem information according to the ecological restoration procedure and confirmed the difference in species composition between the diagnosis result and the reference ecosystem. These findings can be useful basic data for establishing the restoration goal and direction in the future.
